Description:
Pilots are to write a piece of fiction in English with at least 200 words. This year’s prompt:
As the First Recon Division prepares to leave the Aurora Sector, TIE Corps training was transferred off the M/PLT Daedalus in orbit of Ullyr to the SSD Avenger. A few days later, the Daedalus failed to complete several scheduled check-ins so a small task force was sent to make contact with the platform. When the platform was hailed, the response came from a group of hijackers! They claim that the station’s personnel are now hostages and any attempt to retake the station will result in their deaths. How had they known that most of the platform’s personnel had been transferred and what are they hoping to accomplish by taking control of the Daedalus? How will the TIE Corps retake the station without endangering the lives of the platform’s crew?
There is no maximum word limit and grammar will not be evaluated so that non-English native speaking officers can participate without any fear. Instead, the judging criteria will just be on the quality of the story being told. Works will be graded by the TCCS, submissions should be sent to tccom@emperorshammer.org. Humor is welcome but not necessary; the piece can have as serious a tone as you want it to. The four first places in this competition will be awarded for their squadrons and ships 200, 150, 100 and 50 points respectively, and the fictions grades will count towards each pilot and in the global Raise the Flag Fiction Competition. All other participants will earn their squadrons and ships 5 points. Deadline is Friday, September 11th. First place will be awarded an IS-GR, with an IS-SR and IS-BR for the second and third places.
