Wing II Commander's Escort Flight

Competition ID #: 3035
Status: Finished
Submitted by: AD Hav Antiel
Competition dates: 2019-01-01 - 2019-12-31
Subgroup: TIE Corps
Units involved: Wing II
Description:

GN Frown wants to recognize the pilots that pay close attention to his pre-flight briefings and successfully complete the most missions. While Frown hardly has any need to leave the ship, he's been told that naming pilots to an 'escort flight' is one way to acknowledge their status, so he's asked to have those pilots called out in each Warrior Report.

== OBJECTIVE ==

Each month, complete enough SP missions to place in the top four from Wing II.

== AWARDS ==

Each month a pilot is in the top four, they're awarded one point. Each point results in the pilot being awarded an Iron Star based on how many points they have:

  • Points 1 and 2: IS-BW
  • Point 3: IS-SW
  • Points 4 and 5: IS-BW
  • Point 6: IS-SW
  • Points 7 and 8: IS-BW
  • Point 9: IS-SW
  • Points 10 and 11: IS-BW
  • Point 12: IS-GW

In the event that two pilots are tied for the same number of missions, the tie will be broken by calculating each pilot's average score compared to the high scores for the missions they flew. The pilot with the higher average will keep their current position and the other will be placed one position lower.

Competition awards:

IS-BW/SW/GW at various intervals as described below

IS-SW CPT SL8c8 I'm pleased to be able to say that the report of my death was an exaggeration and I'm back to settle my debts to the pilots that guarded my briefing room while I was... otherwise engaged. Back in October, LCM SL8c8 completed a ninth month in the service of my escort flight and earned this IS-SW. 2020-04-04
IS-SW FA Pickled Yoda I'm pleased to be able to say that the report of my death was an exaggeration and I'm back to settle my debts to the pilots that guarded my briefing room while I was... otherwise engaged. Back in October, my fellow General with the ridiculous name completed a sixth month of service as part of my escort flight and earned this IS-SW. 2020-04-04
IS-SW LC Rando MAJ Rando just can’t get enough of escort flight duty, having now completed a ninth month as one of the top four pilots from the Warrior. Can he make it three more months for a complete set of twelve? He will if he keeps paying attention to my briefings! 2019-10-20
IS-SW GN Earnim Branet GN Earnim Branet completed a third month on my escort flight by being one of the top four pilots on the Warrior for July, earning him a slightly shinier medal this time. Still just a trinket compared to the recognition that being on my escort flight brings, but it’s something. 2019-10-20
IS-SW LC Rando Behold, the new model of Imperial efficiency! AUTO RECOMMENDATION SYSTEM ENGAGED, [MAJ RANDO] WAS AMONG THE TOP FOUR PILOTS FROM THE WARRIOR DURING [JUNE] FOR THE [SIXTH] MONTH THIS YEAR AND HAS EARNED THIS [IS-SW]. EXCELLENT WORK, [MAJOR]. 2019-07-24
IS-SW CPT SL8c8 So VA Antiel thinks I squirm them I’m writing these medal recommendations, does he? Let’s see what he thinks of AUTO RECOMMENDATION SYSTEM ENGAGED, [LCM SL8C8] WAS AMONG THE TOP FOUR PILOTS FROM THE WARRIOR DURING [JUNE] FOR THE [SIXTH] MONTH THIS YEAR AND HAS EARNED THIS [IS-SW]. EXCELLENT WORK, [LIEUTENANT COMMANDER]. 2019-07-24
IS-SW LC Rando Major Task from the Hammer thinks it’s hilarious to point out there’s some rando on the Warrior’s list of its top pilots every month, as if he’s being clever when he makes the same joke over and over again. How a simpleton like that rose to a Wing Commander position, I’ll never know. 2019-04-11
IS-SW CPT SL8c8 Leading my escort flight for March is LT SL8c8, who seems set on a career trajectory that flares brilliantly but then snuffs out swiftly. It’s not too late to choose a different course and become a staff officer like yours truly! Without the renown of being the hero, I suppose, but the satisfaction that comes from orchestrating a flawless combat engagement can’t be matched by any experience you could have in a cramped cockpit. 2019-04-11
IS-SW FA Pickled Yoda For a third month in a row, GN Pickled Yoda has been among the Warrior’s top pilots. I appreciate the attempt to keep us Generals in the Corps’ collective consciousness, but is traipsing through the galaxy in a starfighter really the best way to do that? Some of us prefer to aim a bit higher. 2019-04-11
IS-BW LC Rando Otherwise engaged, not dead, blah blah blah. December, eleventh month in my escort flight, IS-BW, here you go. Now let's forget this ever happened. 2020-04-04
IS-BW CM Jack Wynand I'm pleased to be able to say that the report of my death was an exaggeration and I'm back to settle my debts to the pilots that guarded my briefing room while I was... otherwise engaged. Back in December, LT Jack Wynand was among the top four pilots from the Warrior earning him a position on my escort flight and this IS-BW. 2020-04-04
IS-BW CPT SL8c8 Otherwise engaged, not dead, blah blah blah. December, eleventh month in my escort flight, IS-BW, here you go. Now let's forget this ever happened. 2020-04-04
IS-BW MAJ Coremy Jertese Otherwise engaged, not dead, blah blah blah. November, second month in my escort flight, IS-BW, here you go. Now let's forget this ever happened. 2020-04-04
IS-BW CPT SL8c8 Otherwise engaged, not dead, blah blah blah. November, tenth month in my escort flight, IS-BW, here you go. Now let's forget this ever happened. 2020-04-04
IS-BW FA Pickled Yoda Otherwise engaged, not dead, blah blah blah. November, seventh month in my escort flight, IS-BW, here you go. Now let's forget this ever happened. 2020-04-04
IS-BW GN Mark Schueler I'm pleased to be able to say that the report of my death was an exaggeration and I'm back to settle my debts to the pilots that guarded my briefing room while I was... otherwise engaged. Back in November, my fellow General was among the top four pilots aboard the Warrior earning him a position in my escort flight and this IS-BW. 2020-04-04
IS-BW LC Rando I'm pleased to be able to say that the report of my death was an exaggeration and I'm back to settle my debts to the pilots that guarded my briefing room while I was... otherwise engaged. Back in October, MAJ Rando completed a tenth month of service in my escort flight and earned this IS-BW. 2020-04-04
IS-BW MAJ Coremy Jertese I'm pleased to be able to say that the report of my death was an exaggeration and I'm back to settle my debts to the pilots that guarded my briefing room while I was... otherwise engaged. Back in October, LCM Coremy Jertese was among the top four pilots from the Warrior and earned a potion in my escort flight. As a token of my appreciation, he's been afforded this IS-BW. 2020-04-04
IS-BW LT Troy One of our newest Lieutenants came back for a second round of escort flight duty in September by claiming a spot in the top four pilots from the Warrior. The additional face time would probably help in most situations, but I still can’t quite visualize his name. The names all kind of blur together after enough time seeing pilots in the briefing room one day and then never again. Keep coming back and we’ll see if your name sticks someday. 2019-10-20
IS-BW GN Jarek La’an GN Jarek La’an came back for a second month of escort flight duty in September by placing in the top four pilots from the Warrior. I’m beginning to lose hope that he’ll ever see the light and start sending others to their doom -- er, I mean glorious destiny -- like I do, because he keeps jumping into a cockpit himself and blasting off to who knows where all the time. Well, not all the time. Twice a year, at this rate. 2019-10-20
IS-BW FA Pickled Yoda GN Pickled Yoda rocketed back onto the list of the top four pilots from the Warrior in September with 316 completed missions. As a result, he’s been serving a fifth month this year on my escort flight. I’m disappointed that being on my escort flight isn’t enough to keep him flying all year, but I’ll accept the pittance of having him back for a month. 2019-10-20
IS-BW LC Rando MAJ Rando completed an eighth month on my escort flight in August as one of the top four pilots from the Warrior once again. All these sorties aren’t the most cost-effective means of using our resources, hopefully the Major can try to wrap up more of these struggles with pirate and New Republic forces in fewer missions next time. 2019-10-20
IS-BW LT McCrea A new name appeared on my list of top pilots from the Warrior in July and he served on my escort flight, but as per usual I haven’t memorized his name. I’m sure I’d recognize it if I saw it. 2019-10-20
IS-BW CPT SL8c8 LT SL8c8 remained one of the top pilots from the Warrior in July, and one of two pilots dedicated enough to have been a part of my escort flight for seven months straight. It’s not much and it’s a bit late due to unforeseen circumstances, but here’s a small token of appreciation. 2019-10-20
IS-BW LC Rando Sadly, it took far longer to clear all the automation code from my system than I would have thought. Filling out forms by hand feels right anyhow. MAJ Rando was at the top of the list for the top pilots from the Warrior in July, which makes it seven months now and he’s earned this token of my appreciation for remaining a part of my escort squadron. 2019-10-20
IS-BW LT Troy Another new pilot was listed among the top four pilots from the Warrior in August and served on my escort flight. Note that we reward survivors because the admirals have directed us to avoid sending mixed signals by glorifying the idea of meeting one’s end in battle. But really, the pilots we lose are just the ones that paid the least attention to my briefings so I don’t miss them anyway. 2019-10-20
IS-BW CPT SL8c8 LT SL8c8 served an eighth month on my escort flight in August as one of the top four pilots from the Warrior. I appreciate his willingness to stay on the escort flight just so I wouldn’t have to learn new names, that’s very thoughtful. But I don’t spend much time learning the names of the new pilots anyway, so it’s kind of a wash. 2019-10-20
IS-BW MAJ Aldaric MAJ Aldaric reappeared on my list of the top pilots from the Warrior in August and spent the month on my escort flight, only to drop off again the following month. That’s how I like my pilots, tentative and sporadic. They’re far more likely to pay attention to a briefing instead of just jaunting directly to the hangar like the hot shots. 2019-10-20
IS-BW GN Earnim Branet AUTO RECOMMENDATION SYSTEM ENGAGED-- No! I said no! Stop this infernal macro! AUTO REC-- Disengage! End program! Quit! Sudo quit! Aaaugg-- AUTO RECOMMENDATION SYSTEM ENGAGED, [GN EARNIM BRANET] WAS AMONG THE TOP FOUR PILOTS FROM THE WARRIOR DURING [JUNE] FOR THE [SECOND] MONTH THIS YEAR AND HAS EARNED THIS [IS-BW]. EXCELLENT WORK, [GENERAL]. 2019-07-24
IS-BW MAJ Aldaric Oh no, it’s beginning to activate even when I don’t AUTO RECOMMENDATION SYSTEM ENGAGED, [MAJ ALDARIC] WAS AMONG THE TOP FOUR PILOTS FROM THE WARRIOR DURING [JUNE] FOR THE [FIRST] MONTH THIS YEAR AND HAS EARNED THIS [IS-BW]. EXCELLENT WORK, [MAJOR]. 2019-07-24
IS-BW LT Crane Baxa LT Cane Bana rounded out the top four pilots from the Warrior in May. Oh, that’s not his name? Well, I tried. That’s more than most new pilots get from me, there are just too many that cycle through to learn all of their names. 2019-06-26
IS-BW LC Nile Rosenau LC Nile Rosenau has been very successfully getting himself and his newest pilots to the briefing room early and often, and it shows when three Thetans were in the top four pilots from the Warrior for May. But could you please keep the damage to your fighters at a minimum? Replacement parts don’t grow on trees, after all. 2019-06-26
IS-BW LC Rando May was another month where MAJ Rando was the only non-Thetan among the top four pilots from the Warrior. He normally sits towards the back of the briefing room, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at his stats. He’s certainly front-row material, though I may have to institute assigned seating to make it happen. 2019-06-26
IS-BW CPT SL8c8 At the end of May, LCM SL8c8 was among the top four pilots from the Warrior and maintained his position as one of my four escort flight members. While there’s hardly ever a reason for me to leave my briefing room, much less the ship, it’s quite comforting to know that I have a group of competent pilots nearby in case something happened. Nothing ever does, but I prefer to think it’s because of all the precautions we take. 2019-06-26
IS-BW CPT SL8c8 LT SL8c8 isn’t the only cannon fodder, er, Lieutenant in my Escort Flight for April as there’s another greenhorn trying to make a name for himself that also made the cut. SL8c8 has a nice lead on the Kill Board for the year as well. Well done, Lieutenant. Keep following my briefings and you’ll keep coming back home. 2019-05-15
IS-BW FA Pickled Yoda If anything, GN Pickled Yoda is flying even more missions than he used to. I know he’s just doing it to spite me now, but I won’t give him the satisfaction of being offended by it. Fly all you want, General. Go ahead and earn a spot in my Escort Flight for April. It doesn’t bother me at all. 2019-05-15
IS-BW LT Crane Baxa One of our new pilots placed in the top four pilots in Wing II during April and has earned a position on my Escort Flight for the month. Time will tell whether I bother learning his name or not. In the meantime, keep coming back from missions without losing any of my precious fighters and we’ll see how it goes. 2019-05-15
IS-BW LC Rando MAJ Rando finds himself grouped up with two Lieutenants and a crusty General in my Escort Flight for April, on top of being the only non-Thetan. It’s looking like he might even have to pick up the pace to maintain his position in May. We may or may not see an Ugnaught fly by anytime now. 2019-05-15
IS-BW LC Nile Rosenau LC Nile Rosenau returned from the Reserves and immediately became one of the top four pilots from the Wing in March. That says less about aversion to danger among our pilots than it does about commitment to preparation, as many of our veterans spend far more time in the briefing room than flying. I wouldn’t have it any other way. 2019-04-11
IS-BW FA Pickled Yoda To my dismay, there were not just one but now two Generals on my list for my escort flight for February. And this one was actually on the list last month as well. I just don’t know how a proper General would have so much free time that he’d willingly take on a combat mission just to fill it. There are any number of situations aboard the Warrior that could use a General’s intervention, like this “dance off” I had to read about in a recent TCCOM report. Ridiculous. If there weren’t critical briefings to deliver in the way that only I can, I would’ve put a stop to that grievous lack of discipline myself. 2019-03-24
IS-BW LC Rando While processing the February award recommendations for my escort flight, I noticed that the rank on Rando’s profile is now Major, which I don’t remember having been consulted on let alone approving. Whoever’s routing these requests to the Commodore directly needs a reminder that there’s a chain of command around here. This is not how things are done! 2019-03-24
IS-BW CPT SL8c8 I guess my datapad had added SL8c8 to my personal dictionary now because I didn’t get that red zigzag under his name when I started typing out the February award recommendations for my escort flight. Grand. 2019-03-24
IS-BW GN Jarek La’an GN La’an hasn’t been a member of my escort flight before, meaning that up until now he’s been the perfect model of a modern General and spending all of his time here on the ship instead of being out there doing the drudge work himself. I’ll never understand what an officer, particularly a General, finds so fulfilling about risking his life in a starfighter when the real excitement is here on the ship giving briefings and attending meetings. 2019-03-24
IS-BW FA Pickled Yoda New year, new Frown. Somebody told me I should try turning over a new leaf in the new year. As such, I'm here to congratulate GN Pickled Yoda for starting off the new year as a member of my Escort Flight for being one of the top pilots from the Warrior in January. His contribution to the Corps is... measurable, and his flying skill is... sufficient. You could even say that his achievements... meet expectations. Well, I tried. New year, same Frown. 2019-02-10
IS-BW GN Earnim Branet COL Earnim Branet started another year as a member of my Escort Flight, having been one of the top pilots from the Warrior in January. Maybe I should procure a nameplate for him for one of the seats in my briefing room, seeing as he's always here with me. But that'd be showing that someone other than myself has ownership of something in my briefing room and I can't have that. Just a passing thought, pay it no mind. 2019-02-10
IS-BW CPT SL8c8 LT SL8c8, who I realized might just be living out some fondness for the golden age of the Empire, was among the top pilots from the Warrior in January and has been named a member of my Escort Flight. Possibly just some wishful thinking on my part, as otherwise it just looks like my datapad generated some random characters. 2019-02-10
IS-BW LC Rando CPT Rando was among the top pilots from the Warrior in January and has been named a member of my Escort Flight for the month following. I really should just create some sort of script that does this for me every month at this point, it's not like this isn't a routine now. I'm surprised I didn't think of that before. 2019-02-10
