“Combat log. Battlegroup Commander for Battlegroup III, Vice Admiral Locke Setzer reporting. It has been four days since the Kilji Illumine invaded this system. Four days since we divided up our fleet, sending the Challenge, the Renegade, and the Roost in different directions, all in search of the enemy.

Four days since I passed down clandestine instructions to fellow members of the Secret Order.

Pilots have been eager… excited. Impatient, to be honest. Members of the Secret Order have their duties to carry out, but for the rank and file… there is nothing to do but wait. And waiting is the last thing any of them want to do.

Fortunately, today has been fortuitous. We have met the enemy in the space above world G5406. The MC-90 Renegade, combined with a host of support ships from Battlegroup I and Battlegroup II, pulled together in a united front to face down… a single enemy corvette.

Riveting.

I suppose I should be thankful. Some action is better than no action for the fleet, and I know that the pilots of the Challenge are jealous of the Renegade’s fight, however lopsided it may be. They’ll get their chance soon enough though. We will soon be in orbit over NE256, where reports of a Kilji invasion has reached our ears. Whether we will find a substantial force or another mid-class ship, I cannot say. But my senses tell me that we will be forced to look elsewhere for a larger battle.

All my concerns now are for the MC-40 Roost and its support vessels, tasked on the other side of this system, caught in competing gravity wells with a Kilji force we have not yet located, but will be upon us soon enough. What awaits them, I wonder? For every small engagement we have, a larger force looms elsewhere, unseen… and I worry, before long, we will find ourselves as the ones outnumbered and outgunned.

May the whispers of the Secret Order travel with all available haste.

End log.
