A Star Destroyer hovers steadily above a gray looking planet, desolate of life, with an even larger ship, the Super Star Destroyer Avenger in the background. The large triangular behemoth of dura-armor observes the location of interest within the atmosphere, leading the fleet as additional Star Destroyers enter the area via hyperspace lanes. Admiral John Clark brings up his datapad and pushes metallic buttons on the device, displaying readings of the area.

“It appears our data is severely outdated. According to our imperial archives, this planet once was an imperial mining colony used to extract resources for construction of the death star, with 3,200 workers stationed here. However this entry dates back 12 years ago with no new data or communication submitted since then.”

“This is most troubling, we shouldn’t be left without intel on our own bases. Summon the Battlegroup Commanders, I want a full deployment on the surface to conduct an investigation on what’s happened here.” ordered TIE Corps Commander High Admiral Plif.

“Right away sir:”

Admiral Clark pulls up his communicator and summons Battlegroup Commanders, Admiral Marenta, Admiral Genie, and Admiral Stryker to the Star Destroyer’s bridge. All three admirals appear before him via hologram as he conveys the orders.

“Admiral Plif has ordered a full investigation on the surface of the planet. Your orders are to send a platoon of men down to the surface to inquire on what has happened to the inhabitants of this imperial mining colony. Be careful down there, readings show there are a number of civilizations in this sector, you may encounter factions who are undetermined to be friend or foe.”

The three commanders begin to rally their forces and send down Lambda Shuttles, TIE Fighters, and TIE Reapers to the surface, all loaded with fully armed troopers and pilots to conduct their operations. Each member of their respective battlegroups and squadrons have been fully prepped with the mission details by their leaders.

“Sir, we have begun to deploy a reconnaissance team to the surface, we will have boots on the ground momentarily.” said Clark

“Wonderful, keep me informed of any discoveries, the Grand Admiral will want to know the status of his unused resources here.” replied Plif.

As the shuttles approach the surface, they make their way to landing pads a few clicks from a local mining town. The troopers and officers disembark from the shuttles and form up in groups, led by their respective Squadron Commanders. TIE Fighters fly overhead, surveying the area for any signs of life and activity.

“This is Epsilon 1-1 to Admiral Genie, we’re approaching what appears to be the mining facility, there seems to be active factories ongoing here, there's a thick cloud of black smoke emanating from multiple factories.”

“That’s strange, we haven’t been informed of any imperial activity in this area. Do you have any readings on lifeforms in the area?”

“Affirmative sir, we are making a pass over the mining facilities and what looks to be mass residential housing. There is definitely an ongoing operation here, this isn’t one of ours?”

“Negative, we’re going to send in the troopers on foot to investigate. Return back to the landing pads for further instruction”.

Genie addresses the other two battlegroup commanders and informs them of the situation. They ready their platoons of troopers and begin to hike towards the mining facility. As they make their way from the landing pads, thick forested areas line their paths from either side, the road paved with a tough mixture of mud and gravel and the thickness of smoke envelopes their view. Moments later they approach a large town with nothing but housing surrounding them, a large crowd gathers before the troopers and the leader makes first contact.

“Halt, this area belongs to the Mining Guild. This area is no longer under imperial control and belongs to us. Turn away now, you have no business here!” A large man dressed in a green and white jumpsuit shouts at the group of Imperials. Admiral Marenta is first to respond to the Mining Guild Leader.

“I believe you’re quite mistaken, at no point did we ever relinquish control of our factories here. Tell me, what happened to our workers? We had over three thousand workers at these facilities, where have they gone?” The leader laughs at her response, followed by a roar of laughter from the group of miners.

“You imperials are a joke, you think that just because you once controlled this land that we would bend so easily? You think we would just let you walk away? Once the Emperor was dethroned we moved in and took over your “operation”. As I said, this entire planet belongs to the mining guild now. I suggest you return from where you came from, we do not want any trouble.”

Marenta and commanders laughed at their response. “That’s a good joke, but we’ll be reclaiming our factories now.” Marenta lifts a hand up and the troopers ready their blasters, taking aim at the workers. “Consider this your warning”. She motions the troopers to let loose a hail of weaponry.

A wave of blaster fire descends onto the crowd, sending the workers into a frenzy as they charge towards the troopers. Half of the workers retreated towards the factories while those foolish enough to attack were quickly disposed of. After a short engagement, the area is emptied as the troopers march toward the factories. Admiral Stryker pulls up his holo communicator and contacts Admiral Clark to report their findings.

“Sir, Admiral Stryker here. We’ve made contact, it seems the area was taken over by a mining guild faction. We are unsure how many more are in the area however we have made short work of a large number of them here. Requesting additional support and walkers to the area, it seems the local inhabitants are not willing to give up the territory quite easily.”

“Understood, we will deploy additional resources shortly, ETA not more than thirty minutes. Regroup at the landing pad and we will send in reinforcements”. Clark approaches Plif as he continues to gaze outward from the Star Destroyer Bridge.

“Admiral Plif, there is an update on the situation. It seems the planet was taken over at one point by a local mining guild, this would explain why we have lost contact with our colony here years ago. We’re sending reinforcements down to the surface to remedy the situation.”

“Magnificent, once we reclaim this area it will be a vital part of our ongoing efforts. See to it that this little problem is dealt with. I will relay this update to the Grand Admiral in person. Prepare my shuttle for departure.”

‘Right away, sir.”

High Admiral Plif heads to the hanger with his guards in tow where he boards the awaiting Lambda Shuttle. He sits and ponders about the discoveries made known to him.

“The Grand Admiral is not going to be impressed by this development”, Plif thought “but no matter, I will reassure him that everything went smoothly, he will appreciate the fact that we had no casualties and that…”

Plif was interrupted mid thought as he was approached by a small ewok wearing an imperial duty uniform, carrying a silver platter with refreshments. The selection consisted of Wookiee Cookies, Mantell Mix, Flash-Fired zuchii, and various beverages located in a cooler off to the side

“...Solohan50? What are you doing on my shuttle?”

“Yub nub? Yub yub nub nub” Solohan gestures to the various accouterments available for selection.

“Well don’t mind if I do, thank you good sir. It has been quite the day” Plif says. He picks up a few snacks and sets a drink on the tray table beside him. He flicks a few credits onto the platter and gives a wink to the furry little ewok. “Keep up the good work pal, I really needed this. I’ve got a pretty important meeting with the Grand Admiral”. Plif looks outwards and fixes his gaze towards the Avenger continuing to prepare for his impending arrival.
