Section 3: Lists

Lists allow for elements to be sorted and formatted easily. They can include basic text, links, and images (the latter two will be covered next), and can use the same formatting already covered. Note that lists are not supported by Discord.

Unordered Lists

An unordered list, also known as a bulleted list, is a very common form of text formatting which you will likely want to use at some point. Creating a list only requires that each entry in the list be preceded by an asterisk character and a space *:

List of some good games:
* X-Wing
* TIE Fighter
* X-Wing Alliance

List of some good games:

  • X-Wing
  • TIE Fighter
  • X-Wing Alliance

Ordered Lists

If you wish to use an ordered list, also known as a numbered list, the process is a bit different. You will have the line number, followed by a dot, followed by a space 1.. Then, you can place your list entry:

Top three Bean episodes:
1. Mr. Bean
2. The Curse of Mr. Bean
3. Merry Christmas, Mr. Bean

Top three Bean episodes:

  1. Mr. Bean
  2. The Curse of Mr. Bean
  3. Merry Christmas, Mr. Bean

Note that formatting for text needs to come after the initial number, dot, and space. Here, we will demonstrate how formatting for text can be used in entries in a list:

List of Emperor's Hammer Fleet Commanders:
1. Ronin
2. ~~Astatine~~
3. Cyric
4. **Rapier**

  4. Rapier (current Fleet Commander)
