Hello sirs. I am sorry about this coming only after three months of being the LA. I do believe that my time for the AG office is up, and I am not fulfilling my duties to the best of my abilities. I've been in admiralty now for 9 months, and this summer, I knew that my time will be limited as I will be gone at my fathers, rarely checking e-mail. Through my 6 months as CA:RO, and 3 months as LA, I had learned much, and I'm grateful of that. After talking with a few people, I would like to be placed in wing V on the SSSD Sovereign, I would like to be placed in Mem Squadron, with the demotion to COL. I thank you again for allowing me to serve in this great position, and God Speed, hopefully you will see me again someday 8-)

These awards are given for the best technical realization for each platform; it includes the good use of ingame features, of special effects within a battle, etc.

Welcome to Science Office report #34. More or less a slow week but I was able to get some things done for TIE95.

First off and probably the biggest is a new Rebel fighter patch for TIE95. This new patch overcomes the problems of earlier ones, i.e. fighters behave the way they are supposed to. All of the alphabet fighters (except the T-wing), Z-95, and R-41 are included. The T-wing has not be
included because of some unresolved technical difficulties. I'm not really sure why myself, but its more then likely related to its odd number of
lasers. Also another thing I have noted is for some reason neither the T/F or T/B cockpits are usable for the Rebel fighters. But the patch can be
downloaded from this location:

http://files.scienceoffice.net/updates/RebelFlyAll.zip. Depending on how well this received a TIE disk and CD version will follow.

The other TIE95 update is a shuttle/transport fly all patch. This enables all of the shuttles and transports in the game for player use. It still
needs some fine tuning but it is avaible for download now and can be found here: http://files.scienceoffice.net/updates/ShuttleFly.zip. Now it is to be noted that not all of these ships are very player friendly. The most usable ships of this patch are the SHU and TRN. As with the Rebel fighter patch a TIE disk and CD version will be released later.

And lastly I have finally completed a EH version of the E-W. The only problem is XvT and XWA don't work on my XP box since I tried the XP fix to
play TIE95. So I can not test either of the patches and so I have not released them. I have a copy of System Command and Win98 sitting here so this won't be a problem for long. By next week the E-W should be ready for download.

Star Wars Celebration II is the greatest thing for Star Wars fans - I just wish I could have been there. At the convention, you have the chance to meet with other Star Wars fans, talk to actors/actresses, and even get a few autographs... :)

The newest addition to the Reconnaissance Office Staff, ROA/LC Joe (Noon001@aol.com) has recently returned from Star Wars Celebration II bringing gifts! :) He has been able to get a autograph of the beautiful young lady whom plays Beru in Episode II, Bonnie Piesse. Miss. Piesse is best known for her role in the TV series, High Flyers.

I must make a side comment, and if Bonnie Piesse is reading this, please e-mail me! :) I think that Lucas picked the right person to play Beru. Miss. Piesse is very beautiful in the role, and I'm looking forward to seeing the movie - since I already read the book. :)

I would greatly like to thank ROA Joe (Noon001@aol.com) for his great work in getting the fleet this autograph! He's only been on the Reconnaissance Staff for a week, and is making a great impression! :) Great work!

Greetings sir,

I would like to recommend my former-CA:RO to be awarded the Grand Order of the Emperor. Recently Admiral Maverick has been accepted into the High Court of INQs, and I feel that perhaps he hasn't been awarded as much as my should have while serving in the Recon Office. While he was my CA, he helped me out in coming up with new competitions for the office, I really believe that without him the Recon Office wouldn't have as many competitions. He came up with so many competitions that I could almost have enough for one a month, but some are still on the line for later use.

Maverick has also been there anytime I needed someone to take my place while I was on leave and was always willing to take my place if he felt I may need a break.

Admiral Maverick has been a member of the EH for more than five years, he has been an excellent CA while in my service and I feel that he deserves a Grand Order of the Emperor.

Cutest EH Baby Competition: 05.07.02

This will be the longest Recon Office Comp to date. I'm not sure if we need all this time, but I'm giving a few extra weeks just to that we do. :)

The competition is called: The Cutest EH Baby Competition. This parallels the Mr./Miss EH Comp. In this comp, we want to find out who is is cutest EH baby. I'll try to break this comp down by the three month timespan. :)

Month 1:
Photos submitted for three weeks
Last week, they will be posted on the RO page for view, and in preparation for the voting to begin.
Submissions being taken until May 30, 2002

Month 2:
Rounds of voting will begin. Most likely one round per week, or perhaps every two weeks, depending on how many votes we get, as well as the amount of pictures

Month 3:
Voting continues until there are a Cutest EH Boy and Girl. Which will be announced later that month.

Rules:
You must submit a picture of yourself as a child, from 0 - 6 years old. Please try to select a clear picture so it is easy to view. Try to keep your submissions to just one, only one will be accepted. Also, please send them in .jpg or .gif. And include your full ID line. Thank you! :)

The voting will be done by the members of the Emperor's Hammer...

XO Report #9: 05.11.02

The TO site (and related materials) has moved over EH.net and is now located at www.emperorshammer.net/to/ Please update your address
books. Sometime in the next few days I'll be assigning a FTP login and password to the TO and then it's "his problem". :P

LO and CHS are open for applications. Spare yourself the pain and suffering and only apply if you really want the job. Being a CO is not
"fun". The Flight Members are the ones that have fun. COs work. Being a CO is all about responsibility and watching people complain about
something you spent 5 months working on. So, next time you think about stepping up for the challenge, keep that in mind. Being a CO is about being selfless, not selfish.

The NLs will be out soon. My poor CA is being worked to death by real life stuff at the moment and will have them done "when they're ready".
However, this doesn't mean you should stop sending in submissions. They'll end up in a NL eventually. Also, owing to the fact that the
"Jedi Knight 2" NL has been delayed, this gives everyone a chance to sneak in a review for it if they want. Mail reviews to
jpboyce@indigo.net.au.

One interesting point of discussion that's come up is some sort of EH-wide policy for the unspeakable scum that cheat in competitions and other such things. Cheating sucks, whether you're the guy running the competition or the one participating and cheaters need to be sent a clear message that their behavior won't be tolerated in the club. Hopefully, we'll come up with a system that will make it very unattractive for people to cheat.

Subgroup Person of the Week (as written by GMF Keldorn) "I would like to nominate Directorate member, Nyssa Ardile, the Deputy Grand Moff of the Directorate for 'Subgroup Member of the Week'. This most talented lady has worked tirelessly with myself in the development and implementation of the acclaimed 'GalaxyQuest' and has happily implemented many changes that I had requested, despite the complicated nature of many of them. Throughout my initial stages as GMF, she was been an incredibly helpful individual to bounce ideas off, giving much appreciated feedback while throwing in her own perspective as well. Her dedication to duty is astounding, and I am incredibly pleased to have such an individual within the Directorate."

High Court of Inquisitors News: 05.09.02

Well since Paladin is on leave till May 12th I though I'd give some news on what's what in the HCI right now so you don't think we just sleep around here... (but bear with me as I'm writing this down just before I go to sleep so forget any typos and my English ;)

1) Welcome to new Inquisitor AD Maverick.

2) As in my Intro Paladin is on leave till May 12th. You can see that information on the HCI web site on the INQ Profile pages. Don't forget
people if you leave to set it so we don't assign you to cases.

3) Others on LoA : Khyron return May 13th. White Tiger should have return from her honeymoon.

4) Cases 142 and 143 were done last week. No current cases but some might come our way.

5) Always tons of new features are added to the HCI web site and more are to come to ease the "bureaucratic" stuff should be much easier. If you got any news ideas to help for the HCI web site send it to us (Paladin, Chi Long and me) (and if it's for the internal part cc: INQ Moreco since he's the programmer of it ;)

6) When assigned to a case don't forget to vote and if it's a vote of Guilty don't forget your recommendation for sentencing, We don't need a 3000 pages essay but some details for your reasoning help the P-INQ in deciding the final verdict.

Since Sunday, EHNet.org has been down. I've contacted the host and they've informed me of some not-so-good tidings. The server on which EHNet was being hosted had some problems, and they've lost our data. They are currently trying to recover it, but honestly, it doesn't bring me much hope. Absolutely anyone who is affected by this, I need you to e-mail me immediately at ari@tiecorps.org. If you had an e-mail address, send it to me along with a new password that you want. If you had web hosting, let me know too; I will give you hosting temporarily, or better yet, you can sign up at MinosNIC ( http://www.minos.net ) which now supports MySQL too. If for some reason you require more than 5 MB, the quota can be extended for those who had sites hosted previously on EHNet. I will work as hard as I can to get some sort of interim site up ASAP. I realize how much this affects the majority of you, and if there is anything you need that you think I can accommodate you with, please e-mail me. Please, this is a hectic time for me, so don't ask me "what happened to EHNet?" if you see me on IRC.

Message boards: Yes, I know they were the biggest hit. If the host is unable to recover the database, there is simply nothing we can do. You must understand that things like these happen many times and the data is not recoverable. No one is at fault - don't go around saying "how terrible the IO is cause they took down the mbs." These things happen with computers and servers. We will try as hard as we can to get MBs up and running as soon as possible. I guarantee you, all IO effort, as well as tremendous help from LO AbsoluteK, is being devoted to this full-time to this.

This is a hard and trying time for us, and many of you as well; we ask you to please bear with us while we rebuild and lend us your cooperation. We will probably hold mini-competitions for graphics or things of the sort for EHNet. Most likely, we will have to rebuild the site from scratch. The GCC will still be there, since I happen to have all the code saved on my machine and it's just a matter of importing the data into the database. The Webring is currently being recoded by IOA Turtle for incorporation into the MinosNIC network. As the rebuilding occurs, I hope to have a unified login system between the EHNet and MinosNIC networks. Any additional ideas you have for EHNet version 3.0, feel free to e-mail to me.

The full reconstruction may take a while, but we definitely hope to have some sort of interim site and definitely message boards ASAP. Once again, we greatly appreciate your cooperation with us. Command Officers, please ensure that this e-mail is forwarded down your chain of command - that includes every subgroup. We apologize for this tremendous inconvenience, and we are working as fast as we can on solutions.

It is with great pleasure I announce the release of the Directorate's sequel to the critically acclaimed "Conquest", an incredibly addictive and rather enjoyable Planetary Management Simulation entitled EH: GalaxyQuest! This game, pioneered by Deputy Grand Moff Nyssa and myself allows any individual to sign-up and simulate the operations and actions of a Planetary Governor within one of three era's in the Star Wars Universe; The Old Republic, the Galactic War, and the Post-Endor timeframe.

The simulation works on 'turns' that operate once every 10 minutes, and allow a Governor to manage everything from military production to a savings account with the Galactic Bank. Have fun!

Raven Software, creators of Jedi Knight 2, have released the editing tools for that game. It seems LucasArts is finally waking up and
realising that having a community built around their games, a community that can easily edit and add to those games, is a Good Thing(tm). I've had a play around with the editor and it isn't too hard to use. The biggest challenge is coming up with your level design first.

I've created a page on the TIE Corps site, listing all the currently active Executive Orders. These are listed at:

and updated with the latest rank, position and medal images. Over the coming week, the rest of the Training Office site will migrate over so the TO can manage the site with greater ease.

It seems we're entering the silly season in more than one way. First we have had an email virus outbreak on a mailing list. I've posted a quick
and dirty guide to computer security and good practices to stop this happening to yourself. You can check it out at:

Also, there's been a lot of incidents of people doing things they shouldn't really be doing according to their position and bypassing chain of command. The chain of command and the duties structure in the EH is what makes it work. If every man and his dog decided to step outside those boundaries, the EH would descend into chaos, with numerous people competing for the same "patch of dirt". This structure also ensures that people in specialist positions (such as the CS) remain on task and don't wander too much (thus degrading their performance).

Subgroup Person of the Week

A new feature in my report, I'll try to highlight the achievements of a subgroup member in each one. The first one is Primarch Koral
(adam_ashley@softhome.net), of the Bounty Hunter's Guild. Koral runs the server that hosts, from memory, the BHG site, the Image Archive and now, a mirror for the TIE Corps' battles. For setting up the mirror and other contributions to web hosting services, I've decided to award him the Silver Star. Congratulations.

Dance Into May

I have entered the EH into a Battlestats Competition with a number of clubs that regularly participate in XvT WoW events. The Competition is called "Dance Into May", and will be held May 3rd to 10th on the Zone, hosted via Battlestats. The redesigned Emperor's Hammer System Manual is now online at: http://sysman.minos.net/ and contains the details of every Planet and System currently found within EH Territories. This is an excellent source of information for any member who might like to include details of any EH Planet within a fiction, competition, graphic or any other related item.

The System Manual currently contains details of every System except the Lyarna System, which is still being transferred into the new format. Over the next few months, myself and Chancellor Slegr will be fully revising and expanding the content of the System Manual, and will be cooperating with respective areas of the Emperor's Hammer on their specific Home Planets and Systems. We have just received a transmission from another portion of the outer rim. It is rumored that Star Wars author, Aaron Allston, has mentioned the Emperor's Hammer in his newest book, Rebel Dream. Although these reports are very scarce at the moment, the Doomsday is heading to investigate further.

If you are interested in seeing Mr. Allston's mention of the Emperor's Hammer, it is on pages 264, 280, 284-285 of Rebel Dream. He mentions it as:

"Operation Emperor's Hammer, and it was a tactic used by the Empire, and is still used by us for bombardment purposes. This bombardment area is very small to cause the most amount of damage to an area."

Just recently, many of our members have read your newest book, Rebel Dream, and noticed that you mentioned Emperor's Hammer numerous times. I was curious if you were referring to us, because if you were we are so very honored and very grateful!

The fact that there was an extensive fan group by the name of Emperor's Hammer didn't actually occur to me while I was writing the novel -- but, of course, I had been aware of the group, so it's certainly possible that this awareness did result in a subconscious influence. Either way, I'm pleased that the members are pleased.

1. Project Segway

2. Mission Creation Contest: Hammer's Pride Competition

The goal is to design a single free mission, in order to advertise the Emperor's Hammer. This mission should be designed for non-EHers, and should introduce the EH, the TIE Corps, subgroups etc. The winning submissions would be spred through the mission creation community in order to advertise the Emperor's Hammer. The plotline of the missions is up to you, as long as it introduces the EH.. remember the missions will be flown by non-EHers. There is three categories, TIE, XvT/BoP, XWA, top3 submissions for each will be rewarded (up to IS-GR), deadline is May 15th. All submissions should follow the EH standards of the Tactical Manual, avoid the use of patches due to the advertising nature of the missions. 3. XWA Combined Arms Battle released

Attack of the Clones Novel Released: 04.23.02

Today, the official Episode II novel has been released. It is written by R.A. Salvatore. I expect this book to be very well done!

Here is a summary of the book, taken from the inside cover:

Today, with all the Star Wars books, soundtracks, and stuff being released, Wizards of the Coast has decided to release the new Star Wars card game. Personally, I always enjoyed Decipher's Star Wars CCG, but I'm looking forward to giving this a try as well! :)

Attack of the Clones Soundtrack Released: 04.23.02

May 23 is the day for Star Wars! :) I have recently bought the soundtrack to Episode II, and I find it very enjoyable. It has a very mellow tone to it at times, but it never loses the Star Wars experience! :) Definitely a must buy, in my opinion! :) It also comes in four different covers!

The companies behind the X-Wing and TIE Fighter games are working together once again on a World War II flight combat game.

LucasArts Entertainment has announced that it has resumed its relationship with Lawrence Holland and his game development company, Totally Games, to develop a World War II flight combat game for the PC and console systems. Previous partnerships between the companies resulted in the popular X-Wing and TIE Fighter Star Wars games, as well as the World War II flight combat games Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe and Their Finest Hour: The Battle of Britain. The new game, scheduled for release in 2003, will let players assume the role of an elite pilot on a series of secret missions. "Lawrence Holland single-handedly defined the fun, accessible flight action genre with his groundbreaking trilogy of World War II air combat games," said Simon Jeffery, president of LucasArts. "Adding the sophisticated storytelling style Holland developed for the award-winning X-Wing series, this new game promises exhilarating gameplay with a rip-roaring story of adventure and intrigue. The legions of fans who have been clamoring for a new game in the vein of Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe should be very happy with this announcement."
