TAC Report # 83 (2003-04-05)

This report was submitted by AD Marcin Szydlowski

Life gives you suprises everyday. At least, it gives me. I've been alone, and sudenly I'm not alone anymore. Again, I've got someone I care about. That gives me strenght to move on. However, I start to realize that my life changes and soon it will change even more. I am not happy teenager anymore. I think about more serious things like family and children. :)
Some people may ask: "Mike. Why the hell you annoy us with your babbling?". Well. It's just to inform you that I am changing. I am going to dedicate less time to EH and more time to my life. "What? You loooser, you can't resign!". Fear not. I am not going to resign anytime soon. "Gah, you stupid little..., so why's this speech?". Well. To let you know, that's TACman is going to be less on IRC, and can be a bit slower.
I used to be on IRC, 10 or more hours / day. Now, I am going to reduce this time to 2-3 hours. Of course there will be exceptions. Sometimes I will be at home, doing some work, so I will be online, sometimes I will be away, so you won't see me.
Few months ago I've sent my plan to GA Ronin and SA Astatine. And I am not going to leave my post until my work is done here. I have many projects to do, cheaters to catch, CA to train and other things. However I will be taking leave from time to time. My CA is ready to take over when I'm gone, so you won't see a change :)
And one more thing. Whenever you see or think, I start slacking, my performance is very low, let me know. I will try to do my best, but let me know, when you think, something is wrong. So I will try to improve :)
If you've completed reading this stuff, then you should be proud of yourself :P

New battles and missions
I've released many new battles this week. Finally, we have released XWA-CAB #5 by Xavier Sienar, so check it out. Also, we have 9th XvT-DB, 100th XWA-F and many other missions. And of course, more coming soon. Battles from MCW Round 1 and many others. Stay tuned for more :)

TAC3K countdown!
TAC2,8k is here. Now we need to hit TAC2,9k We need only 196 to reach TAC3K! Good work Tactical Staff, keep it up!

Mission Creation Wars Round 1 - "First Blood"
Unfortunatelly, some people decided not to send their battles though I've been waiting for them till today, so we move to the next round. All people from round 1st, who sent their submissions, will proceed to the next phase: "Unexpected encounters". It will be cup-style round. Expect your plotlines soon. Meantime, congrats and well done, to all who sent battles!

Golden Tug Awards - 2003 Edition!
Started by HA Striker, 1 year ago, GTAs will be continued by me, however it will be real Oscar style. So expect winners announced by EH celebrities (I hope GA Ronin will find time to join IRC and announce best mission designer and SA Astatine will announce best battle). At the moment, I am compiling list of battles, created in 2002. This list should be published very soon, I will try to attach it to next TAC report :)

New rule about pilot file naming
It is rule already onboard few ship, but I am going to make it TC wide. All pilot files' names must consist your PIN. Especially when flying for HSs. I give you 1 month to learn this rule. On may 1st, all HS BSFs without PIN in plt file will be rejected.
We all want to make our lifes easier. That's why I set this rule. It will grealy increase speed of HS processing. Ultimately you can use the following format (most welcommed): TIE-TC 001 - 3203 Mike.zip, so in other words its BattleID battlenumber (if lower than 100, then add 0s) - PIN nickname.zip. Anyone using this (DarkEagle already does) will get cookie from TAC.

Tactical Office Person of the Week:
This week I've selected Ernest Penfold, as Person of the Week. As recommended by TCC:TIE:
Ernest Penfold, for not stopping bugging me for an assigment. Good work Pen ;)
Great job Penfold. You have earned 2 points. I remind all TCCs to send their PotW recomendations. So current standings look as follows:
  • Penfold - 2
  • Kalith Jaenus - 1
  • Abel Malik - 1
Winner of this round is Abel Malik! He gets IS-GR and we start again!

Cheating cases:
Kat Lyons has been sent to HCI last week, and his trial started. I didn't see any response from him so I guess verdict will be simple. Also, I should receive files from SSL1, so we will see if any cheating occured there. But I doubt it since Tod and Arti know what they are doing. Behave people. The great eye of TAC is watching :)

Final word:
My office is always open. I don't do any businnes on IRC, but I ALWAYS reply to questions and suggestions. What do I mean by EH bussiness. Here's example: "Mike, please award me my mission MoT-rh", and other things like that.
If you have question and I am not available, try joining #tac and ask there or use mail. Ultimately you can use Mission Creation Forum :)
