TAC Report # 49 (2002-06-12)

1. Jedi Knight Compendium

The Tactical Office, being responsible of all custom levels for all official EH game platforms, is going to build a Level Compendium for all the games of the Jedi Knight series, namely:

  • Dark Forces
  • Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight
  • Mysteries of the Sith
  • Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
For each of these games, the compendium will be divided in
  • custom Single-Player Levels
  • custom Multi-Player Maps
SP Levels will be classified by sugroups, depending on the plotline of these (the same way battles for TIE,XvT,XWA are separated in the Battle Compendium). MP Maps, will be grouped together (like free missions for TIE,XvT,XWA). The EH standards for these levels and maps are still to be clearly defined, but they can be approximated for now to:
  • Good overall design quality
  • EH-oriented plotline
  • Installation Instructions, Author credits (ID-line+email), LEC Licence Agreement about Addon Levels in a readme.txt file
If you happen to have designed some custom EH-oriented levels, feel free to submit them to the Tactical Officer Fleet Admiral Striker, with the subject "Custom Level Submission". Attach the levels or give a location where it can be downloaded. The levels must involve the EH (at least for SP Levels).

A similar Compendium should be built as well for Star Wars: Galatic Battegrounds, the Hammer Fist has already a small compendium of custom levels for this game.

2. New TACA Position open

In order to supervise the construction of the JK Compendium, the Tactical Office is looking for a new TACA to deal with JK business. The duties involved are:

  • Help the Tactical Officer with the building of EH standards for custom JK levels
  • Help the Tactical Officer with the approval of EH custom JK levels
  • Be on the lookout for news about JK Custom Level Design
The required criteria for the position are:
  • Must have JK,MotS,JK2 (Dark Forces as well if possible)
  • Must have some custom level design skills for these games
  • Minimum rank of CM (TIE Corps), JH (Dark Brotherhood) or equivalent, OR two recommendations from commanding officers
Some other criteria may be an asset for an application:
  • Some commanding experience (to eventually lead a small team of testers)
  • Have TIE,XvT,XWA and some knowledge about custom mission design
  • Good HTML Skills
  • Some knowledge in ASP,PHP, database design
Send your application to the Tactical Officer Fleet Admiral Striker with the subject "TACA Position application".

3. Golden Tug Awards: vote !

The Golden Tug Awards are new annual rewards for the best of the best of battles released over the past year. You can vote for the best battles made over the year 2001 at the TC Survey Center. There may several rounds for some categories if there are more than two nominees, final decision by the Tactical Officer.

4. Golden Tug Awards: design the trophies !

The winning battles and free missions will have the awards added to their profiles. I am STILL looking for people with graphic skills to design the several awards, ie a Golden Tug trophy and small certificates with a tug on it. If you are interested, contact the Tactical Officer Fleet Admiral Striker. There will be of course a reward...

5. Hammer's Pride Competition concluded

Results should be released soon, I have been quite busy lately.

6. FCHG Battle Creation Contest #3: Enemies of the Hammer

The third edition begins on June 15th, and will last until August 7th. Best submissions will become FCHG Battles. Plotlines will have to involve a confrontation between the Emperor's Hammer and one of our enemies (which can be a fleet, a character, or whatever you can think of !)

7. BSFs

The BSF system should work perfectly now, some elements of the server have been upgraded. BoP files are now supported as well ! CMDRs and pilots, don't forget skipping any mission is NOT allowed, BSFs with missions skipped woud be removed from profiles later even if the database auto accepts them (for now).
