TAC Report # 5 (2000-10-13)

This report was submitted by FA Striker

Greetings,

Weekly news from the Tactical Office once again...

1/ Sector Admiral Kawolski has just finished the TIE part of the new BSF
Approval system, coupled with an online pilot viewer
(http://www.tiecorps.org/pilotviewer/). This should make easier CMDR's life (and
mine ;)) about BSF recommendations. You can now directly upload the pilot file,
scores are automatically extracted from the file; it will even save time for
audits as the file is then directly available for my review. You can still use
the old system if needed. This new system only applies for TIE missions and
battles, XvT and XWA will be supported later, once the TIE part has proven
itself :-)

2/ The Tactical Manual has been updated and has moved to
http://www.tiecorps.org/tac/tac-man/ . Mission standards have been made stricter
concerning briefings and debriefings.

3/ A reminder about skipping missions: "If you encounter a battle that has a
fatal bug in it that prevents you from playing the rest of the battle, you may
edit your pilot file ONLY to skip the mission. However, if you edit a pilot file
to skip a mission, you MUST notify your superior that you skipped a mission, you
MUST fill out a Bug Report on the Battle Center to explain why you skipped a
mission, and you cannot receive any high scores for your pilot file."

4/ Some new battles have been released this week, two TIE Battles and a XWA free
mission, expect some XvT ones next week.

5/ The Mac compatibility problem with custom TIE missions has been solved thanks
to VA Wlodek! The Mac version of Tie Fighter does not support more radio
messages in custom misisons than in the original ones they replace. Thus, all
custom battles should be moved from the Battle 1 slot to the 13th one where all
missions have 16 radio messages each. Soon, all needed TIE Battles will be
updated with an additional battle13.lfd file and a pilot file for use by Mac
pilots (only).

6/ The "Phoenix" should be back soon...

7/ Congratulations to the first three graduates of the XWA Misison Design
Course: LCM Cray Mikalen, MAJ Tarkin and MAJ Jeffery Domm ! Course available at
http://xam.tsx.org

8/ Congratulations to the two newly promoted Admirals ;)

Did I miss something ? :P
