TO Report # 54 (2000-11-04)

Administration coding is still ongoing. The news script has been finished and successfully used to update the news on the site. The rest of the administration code will be implemented in the coming weeks. I'm also looking into adding other courses to the new online format.

LCM Alex Foley will be taking over from AD Sarriss on the Graphics course, while CM Aylius Khan has written a Computer Basics course (http://wraith.squadron.org/CBX.html), which is now active (not added to the course list yet, because I haven't finished recoding the admin stuff on the site). The PHP course can be considered in the same boat at the computer basics course. However, the computer basics course uses the new automated test format, and I've given COL Mell access to update profiles for those who have passed the PHP course.

I've acquired Adobe Acrobat (the authoring version, not the reader). I'm planning on converting the course notes for my courses from MS Word 97 format to Acrobat (PDF) format. PDF is a bit more standard than Word and is supported on just about every major computing platform (Windows, Mac, Linux, most UNIXes from memory). Plus Internet Explorer and Netscape can view PDF via plugins, which makes the format a bit more flexible than Word.

Total graduate count is about 5400, with mIRC almost to 800 and IIC/1 just under 400.
