SQUADRON NEWS

Ok, so this is awkward. But welcome to Typhoon Squadron Report #1! This will be relatively short as I don't have a lot of Typhoon business to report, but I did have some things I wanted to share and talk about.

For those in the fleet who don't know, Typhoon is one of the legacy squadrons of Wing X, and is a squadron associated with many well known names of the TIE Corps. Colonel Callista is probably one of the biggest of those names, at least to those of us old enough to remember her and the glory of Typhoon Squdron under her leadership.

But many other great pilots have occupied this office at various points over the years, including General Coranel Both, General Elwood the Brave (who wrote some GREAT fiction about being essentially a squadron of one for time, might have to dig those back out and share them Woody!), Colonel Dirty Vader, and even myself! Typhoon was in fact the very first squadron I ever commanded, and I lead them for almost a year in 2001 and 2002. It is my pleasure to once again take up this role, and I look forward to doing my part to help bring back some of that old school Typhoon and Wing X glory!

I am immeasurably thankful to General Master, Colonel Locke Setzer, and Major Prost Varsis for undertaking this adventure with me. I can't wait to see what we can accomplish!

Thanks to Colonel Locke Setzer and his Newsletter diving, we were able to recover a number of old rosters for Typhoon, and have decided to utilize some of the historic flight mottos (so they're done, and in record time too!) We also were able to recover the banner that Typhoon used when I was it's commander over 20 years ago. Unfortunately I don't know who to credit, but I have to say that for a two decade old graphic, it's held up surprisingly well, and still looks fantastic!

The old Typhoon patch left something to be desired though, and as such we have commissioned a replacement. There is an ongoing competition (see below) to come up with a design for Typhoon to use. We have received a few images so far, and are very pleased with what we've seen, but if you have an idea for an entry, it's not too late to submit! Submissions will be accepted through May 18th.

Since a new FirebirdCMDR has not been named yet, I wanted to take a minute to give those pilots some well deserved attention as well. During Imperial Storm 5 in the month of March, all twelve pilots of Firebird were active and on the board, a great feat! And not only were all 12 on the board, but 11 earned merit medals! So congratulations to Colonel Locke Setzer, Major Cade Tezo, Major Jaxx Nassin all earned Silver Stars! General Master, Major Prost Varsis, and Captain TI-40016 all earned Bronze Stars! Commander Iam Thinking earned their very first ever Palpatine Crescent! Colonel Niksa Vel, Lieutenant Commander Badkid, and Lieutenant Commander eriksen all earned Imperial Security Medals! A GREAT month for Firebird and I'm proud to have been a part of it!

Last little bit of Firebird news was the well deserved promotion of the Squadron Executive Officer, Jaxx Nassin to the rank of Major! Great work Jaxx and thank you for all your help during my time in Firebird.

Fleet News

The Battlegroups expanded! Which is what prompted this whole kerfluffle to begin with. Battlegroup I has grown with the addition of the ISD-II Grey Wolf and her escorts, and Battlegroup II picked up ISD-II Relentless and her escorts. Great to see another member of the old TIE Corps Battlegroup remaining active with the fleet! Battlegroup III elected to add the MC-90 Renegade and her escorts to the Challenge's contingent and has seen the transfer of the three Infiltrator Wing squadrons to her.

Yet another big announcement out of the Training Office! The very first Gruaduate Program, Graduate of Starfighter Operations is avaiable! Want to prove you know everything there is to know about Starfighter Operations (we are pilots, after all!)? This is your chance!

The Emperor's Hammer Recon Office, responsible for advertising and recruitment, has begun doing squadron highlights on social media! Follow them on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram!

TTT has a new version, 3.0.4! Yay!

I predicted a slower April and was happy to be proven wrong! We lead the SP killboard most of the month, which was fantastic seeing Typhoon as 1, 2, 3, 4 for much of the month. Keep up the great work gentlemen!

COL Triji Boliv signing off....
