Ok. Today's topic is : "Hints for Multi Player Combat"
Basic Dogfight (1 on 1):
Because basic dogfight is the most common type of multi player matches in fleet sponsored competitions i'll start from this one. Dogfighting is rathers easy, no matter what craft you got. Of course there is a slight difference between shielded and unshielded craft, but there's only one goal to achieve: Kill enemy. Because of shields, i'll split this topic into 3 parts: "Shielded fighters, unshielded and other"
Shielded:
Well. I must say i am not so experience with shielded fighters, but i can say i participated in several those kind of matches. When you're flying T/A, T/D, GUN, MIS or rebel fighters, you've to uses different tactics. No kamikaze attacks. You must keep your shields ballance and try to inflict the most damage to enemy. First you fly straight level. Don't evade. If you enemy is rookie he'll start firing from 2 clicks. Don't worry, combat fighters firing range is about 1.5 - 1.6 click. Fly straight, and when you're at 1.6 fire first blast and then evade. Try to hit enemy. Then evade. Hit and evade. Always use quad lasers. Direct hit will reduce enemy shields to low level. Then you need additional hit to win. If enemy is using single lasers. Well.. You must learn how to evade. Every opponent use schemes, only Top Aces fly without schemes. If you'll learn enemy scheme, you'll win for sure. But sometimes it'll take entire match and you'll loss.
When you'll kill enemy, in most cases you'll have your shields reduced. Now it's the most difficult part. To redure enemy shields and don't get yourself killed. Well.. in 90% cases enemy will use single lasers. That's why you need to learn how to evade. Few hints:
change direction and speed very often
don't fly straight level for more than 1 second
in MP combat 1 second is long time
who better evades often wins
Unshielded:
Well... Unshielded combat is easier. Why? Cause you don't have to watch your shields. But it's easier to get yourself killed. As always. There are 3 main tactics. Try to break enemy confidence. Attack rapidly. Don't fly straight level for long. Fire often, work with precision. Don't fire at the beginning. Come closer and take your best shot. Works in most cases. . But i use my own tactic. NO.1 + Upgrade for close encounter. No. Not shotgun. When you're in close combat you and you're enemy are trying to be more manuverable than enemy. Most stupid. My tactic. Let enemy turn. Try to get away. 0.30 clicks. Then turn. If your BRAIN works fast you'll hit enemy, but you'll have about 0.4sec to hit. Or use 2nd version with 0.20 clicks ( i use it ), but then you have 0.1sec to hit. My best tactic. Works in 98% of cases.
Other:
There are other forms of 1 on 1 of course. When you fly T/I and your enemy T/D, or even worse T/A. T/D is better for some people, but not for me. I think it's the worse dogfighter ever seen. Slightly better than T/I, but much worse than T/A. Why? Simple. It's damn big. So what than it's shielded. You'll hit it without problems.
When you're using worse craft, it's up to you. It's damn difficult to win, and it's impossible against enemy of your kind.
Main MP hints:
Brucmack & Hempor always wins, but Mike is good too.
When turning turn of everything, Lasers, Shields, Beam and redure throttle to 33%.
Use presets. 2 keys and life is easier.
Fly with good opponents. 10 losses can learn you much more than 50 wins.

Each Comp Without any LoCs = 1 point
Each LoC = 2 points
Each DFC = 3 points
For a Squadron, any event where half the Squadron was at the MP event earns them 5 extra points (this is commonly called a MP Citation). If someone leaves and 50% of the rest of the Squadron has flown at the Comp, it doesn't count, 50% of the people in the Squadron at the time of the Comp have to fly in it.
