Phantom Weekly Report #2

Phantom Weekly Report #2
(18.02.01)

Introduction

This week has been pretty slow, what with me settling into command and some of our pilots on a leave, but we still put in a respectable score for the XWA League CR#3 with the 3 pilots we still have flying. Also, Phantom Flight III have been competing against Ghost Flight III which ends on the 25th (good luck with that).

Expect things to pick up soon. XWA League CR#4 should be starting up soon (and I want to see us hitting the high scores), when the Aleth CMDR returns from leave we should be fighting them in a competition, a Wing Competition has just started and we may be blowing away some rebels from the RS in the future.

Squadron News

XWA League Combat Run #3

The deadline has passed and all the entries for the XWA League CR#3 have been sent in. Expect to see the results on the mailing list as soon as they become available, as well as information on CR#4 competition details.

For now you can just see how well we done...

LCM Gunman - 7366 pts
CPT Werdna Elbee - 6156 pts
CM Spearhawk - 5983 pts

Total : 19505 pts
Average: 6502 pts
Particpation: 3/5 60%

Wing Competition

There is a new Wing Competition on now (well, it starts on the 19th but you can fly now). You must fly FREE-XWA8 by the 26th February. VA Adrenaline is running the competition so I guess all pilot files go to her (adrenaline@tiecorps.org), and please CC: me all entries. You can also mail them to me and I'll pass them on to the COM.

IS-SW to highest scoring pilot and IS-BW to second place. Even if you can't get a high score, please enter as squadron scores will help decided upon the COM's Own for this month.

Operation: Cantina Run III Starts February 24th, 2001

  • Phase I- Fiction Writing: February 24th, 2001 - March 7th, 2001 (deadline= my birthday :o)

  • Phase II- Graphics Design: March 10th, 2001 - March 17th, 2001

  • Phase III- Mission Flying Contest: March 19th - March 31st, 2001

It will be a while until the competition actually starts, but we have been given extra warning so we can get started on our Fiction. The fiction for the competition has to be based upon the Battlegroups. Nothing else. You can't write about any other subgroups, such as the DB or Senate, but you can mention them in places.

I've already started my fiction for the competition, so get cracking yourself and write something down :o)

Gunman Promoted

Just yesterday, LCM Gunman was promoted to CM Gunman. Congratulations! It wasn't going to be long until I recommended this promotions myself (I was going to give it a couple of weeks so I could get to know you, GM), but luckily VA Adrenaline kept an eye on Gunman while the CMDRs were changing and decided to award the promotion herself.

Multiplayer XWA Competitions

I know we are a singleplayer ship, but it's still worth a go and contending in the multiplayer competitions. The Immortal has some great multiplayer pilots and it's about time that you became one of them. Here is a short list of the main XWA competitions that are on over a week...

  • Zone Sunday (Sunday 13:00-14:30 EST) - In the MS Zone (http://zone.msn.com/xwingalliance/) melee skirmish room

  • XWA EuroComp (Saturday 10:00-11:30 EST) - Held on IRC channel #EuroLoC

  • Kampfergemetzel (Saturday 13:00-15:00 EST) - In the MS Zone (http://zone.msn.com/xwingalliance/) melee skirmish room

  • Outer Rim War (Saturday 14:00-23:00 EST) - IRC Innernet servers (type /server irc.innernet.org in status window). Channel is #outerrim. Information on how to get a pin no for the competition can be found at http://www.rebelsquadrons.org/outerrim. Ask EH members that are their how to take part.

Also, as well as weekly competitions, there is a Week of War every month on the MS Zone. For more details and to signup go to www.battlestats.com. I will post when the XWA WoW starts on this mailing list.

Fleet News

Blatantly nicked from the TC news page, but why should I have to retype it just for this report...it'll be just the same info!

Star Wars Quake DM Test 1 released
20:07 - HA Kawolski [absurefire@aol.com]
Posted from http://swtc.telefragged.com/news.shtml:

I really don't think I have to elaborate here. DM test 1 has been released. Check the files section for details. A few comments though. We have limited the scope of this DM test on purpose to better focus on the core design of the TC, namely force use, saber use, and weapon use together with player movement. Therefore the lack of levels among other things. Don't worry though, this is where DM #2 will make your day =) Untill the however, why not do some mapping or modeling for you favorite mod? The Star Wars Universe surely offers a plethora of ideas... In any case, feel free to comment on the mod and send me bug reports or thought. I'm just happy we finally released something. Best of wishes.

Star Wars Quake is about 25 MB large and requires Quake II v3.20 to play. Download it here: http://swtc.telefragged.com/files.html

The Quake II v3.20 patch can be downloaded here: http://www.planetquake.com/quake2/files.shtml

New Iron Star system
08:59 - HA Kawolski [absurefire@aol.com]
The new Iron Star system has been programmed into the database. Here's how it works:

The Iron Star is awarded for winning a Training Office-approved competition. There are two types of add-ons depending on the type of competition. For all Flying competitions, Wings are awarded. For all Non-Flying competitions, Ribbons are awarded. The type of Wings or Ribbon awarded is dependent on the size of the competition.

Bronze - 1st place in a competition involving at least 6 pilots, runner-up award for Silver competitions, 3rd place/participating award for Gold or Platnium competitions

Silver - 1st place in a competition involving 4 or more squadrons or task units, 2nd place award for Gold or Platnium competitions

Gold - 1st place in a competition involving 3 or more wings/task forces.

Platinum - Training Office competition

Wings are worth FCHG points (1,3,5,10 pts respectively) but Ribbons are not.

Now, some people received awards during the first run of the Iron Star change. Your medal has been converted to the appropriate type. Check your personnel profile to see.

The FCHG point system hasn't been updated yet. I will be changing it today in an effort to redo and fix the FCHG system on the database without having to rely on moving to the new server

Orders

  • Fly FREE-XWA8 for the Wing Competition

  • Fly for XWA League CR#4 as soon as the details are released

  • Take part in as many multiplayer competitions as you can (more info can be found at http://www.tiecorps.org/combat/)

  • Attend IRC as often as possible. Remember that as well as #emperor's_hammer and #tiecorps, there is also an #ISD_Immortal room. If you need any help getting on IRC and using mIRC (or whatever) mail me. ISD Immortal meetings are on at 3pm EST in their channel.

  • Recruit!!! We need at least one more pilot before we can have Battle Citations again. More than that would be even nicer.

  • Give me some BSFs to do. If there are any missions you haven't flown, then get flying. If you've completed them already, then why not go for the highscores as they may be useful in a future competition.
