Not a whole lot going on in the fleet these days, other than some interesting discussions on the TC Message Board about battle reviews and the like. It does appear that cheating is on the rise again, though. One order regarding this: DO NOT DO IT!

Wing News

It has also been a relatively quiet week in Wing IX. This might be because everyone is slaving away over their computers, writing the next “War and Peace” for Cantina Run III. Or it could be that a new shipment of alcohol arrived. Or a package from the Transvaal arrived with a label marked ‘fragile,’ which of course is Transvallian for ‘very hard drugs.’ (this is my token The Young Ones reference for this week)

Squadron News

We welcomed LT Owen back from the Reserves this week. This brings us a tad closer to our goal of six pilots. One more and we can start earning squadron citations again, as well as have our own squadron-level competitions for medals.

At least two of you have been busily writing your submissions for the competition, but I still need to hear from two more (see the AR section, but you all know which group you fall into).

Also, I got an advance copy of a Spear Squadron patch designed by LT Narshay over in Shield Squadron. It looks pretty sharp, so I’m giving it my approval. LT Narhasy has a version sized for uniforms, so hopefully we’ll all be able to have our nice Spear Squadron uniforms. Our thanks go out to LT Narshay for doing such a good job.

Don’t forget to finish those entries for Phase I of the comp! It officially starts TODAY, so let's get it done. Also, you might want to start thinking about what you’re going to do for Phase II, the Graphics Phase.

Activity Reports

CMDR/CM Krax Tarnisar – did this report and other commander-type stuff. Sent two fiction submissions to our fearless leader (Ricaud) for butchering. Started flying TC 166, which is turning out to be kinda buggy. Sent out a battle for playtesting to other Wing IX members prior to submitting it to the Tac Office. Also did some work on Project Distant Talon for the LO.

FM/LT Pirat – No Contact. E-mail me ASAP!

FM/LT Argyle Ironfist – Reported in. Submitted his entry for Phase I.

FL/CM Brad Tack – On leave

FM/LT Owen – Joined from reserves. Submitted draft of his entry for Phase I.

Miscellaneous

I’m taking suggestions regarding new names and mottoes for our flights. I’d like to see something more in line with the squadron name (i.e., pole arms).

Also, don’t forget about IWATS. They have some courses that you might find interesting, or would at least look good showing up in your Personnel Profile section of the TC roster. If you use IRC/ICQ, take the IWATS courses!

Since Phase III of the competition involves flying, let’s all see if we can get in at least one Free Mission or Battle before then.
