Beth Squadron Report - May 7th, 2000

Introduction

I've come back from leave and am officially back in command of Beth. Werdna, you've done an exclent job while I were away. Well done. Other major news for this week are that most of you flew for the XWA League and that we got a new pilot. Welcome to Beth, SL Loor!

Squadron News and Activity
--------------------------------------------
- SL Loor joined Beth Squadron. Welcome!
- LT Cal, LCM Cray, LT Shield, LCM Var, CM Werdna and CPT Sequoh flew F-XWA 4 for the XWA League! Good work!
- LT Cal, LCM Var, CM Werdna, LT Shield and CPT Sequoh attended this week's meeting and attempted to fly in ImpStorm
- CPT Sequoh flew TC-BoP 2 and IW-18 and was promoted to Fusilier in the FCHG
- CM Werdna and LT Cal submitted a story for the writing contest
- The Beth mailing list (beth@squadron.org) and the Beth homepage (http://beth.squadron.org) are working again
- We have three citations again (in TC-XWA 1, 3 and IW-22)
- LT Merrik is still on semi-leave due to RL problems

Fleet News

- Imperial Storm - Blue Victorious at Battle of Heir - FA Kessler

Despite the loss of the SSSD Sovereign, Blue's fleet snatched victory from what appeared to be certain defeat in a savage counterattack that destroyed almost 200 Red starfighters as well as the ISDs Hammer and Colossus and the M/FRG Implacable for the loss of only 62 Blue Fleet Starfighters. In desperation, Red Fleet ordered a Hit and Fade attack on Blue's Interdictor - the Fairchild. With Blue's Interdictor destroyed in a heroic suicide mission by Python and Raptor Squadrons, Red Team managed to limp into hyperspace. Further losses were inflicted upon Red Fleet's rearguard before the escape was complete, but due to the chaotic nature of the battle, a full damage assessment has not yet been made.
What is certain however, is against all the odds, Blue have managed to turn certain defeat into a stunning victory.

Security Officer Fleet Admiral Rapier was awarded the highest medal of the fleet: the Medal of Honor!

- Fly some battles, especially XWA-1, XWA-3 or IW-22.
- Participate in multiplayer events
- If you didn't get some mails with [wing_iii] in the subject, send a blank email to wing_iii-subscribe@egroups.com and get subscribed to the Wing III mailing list. Also don't hesitate to use it. :)
- Delete any ILOVEYOU-email you get and don't open any attatchments unless you exactly know what it is. Ask the sender of the mail if you are unsure.
