Kappa Squadron Report - December 17th, 2000 - CPT Astarosta
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, I'll try my first Jedi mind trick...You love Roasty...You give him your beer...you give him your paycheck...you give him your sister...you don't hit him with a chair for acting like a jerk...you...BOMNK!!!

I guess I'll have to practice a little more.

But beware!!!! as Darth Roasty has joined the DB and will whoop your axes with a Lightsaber!!! (as soon as he gets one :p)

Squadron News
-----------------------

-The Sovereign Squadron League 2000 Quarter Finals results are done. Sigma has qualified for the next round and will be representing Wing II on the next rounds and hopefully on the title. ;)
I want to make a special mention of our performance, having in mind members from both present and past who have participated and made this achievement. Kappa has reached the 11th place in the general qualification, and if we have in mind that the "rat pack" squadron is a commanding officers squad, Kappa has made into the Top 10 squadrons of the Sovereign. It's an honor for me to be in command of such a distinguished group, the great Kappa Squadron of Wing II.
Being that, you know what's next. Yes, shameless party ;)

-The Kappa Squadron Homepage and the Flight II site have been moved! The current URLs are:

Kappa Squadron: http://www.emperorshammer.ca/kappa
Flight II page: http://www.emperorshammer.ca/kappa/FlightII/home.html

The Kappa HP has also been updated!! Check out the latest feature, the Cadet Guide, that Algaron imported from his former squad, Zeta!! We now have to personalize it the Kappa Way. It's intended to hold submissions from us all, any tips you think that might be useful, specially from your personal experience as cadet. I was thinking also of tips about the hardest missions on the TF game, to make easier the pilot file submission. Submit!!!
Special acknowledges go to our great Webmaster, CM Algaron, for his constant, excellent work ;)

-I've added the historical Weekly Squadron Reports since the Roasted Guy has taken command. All 14 reports are now at the Kappa Squadron roster on the tiecorps.org page. Check them out, drop a tear if you were here, or be curious about the wacko squadron you joined if you weren't.

-The Holiday Kappa Squadron comp will be on this week, as the comp approval form is accepted by the Training Office. I'll tell you all when it goes through, and the comp starts. It will feature four sections, each of them will give you points to gather for an ISM. Details are as follows:

a) Flying section: Normal flying comp, full battle to fly, not a free mission, laserless score is used, top scorer wins.

b) Fiction: Write a short piece about Kappa's Christmas Eve, the best one wins, either if it's funny, dramatic, compelling, thrilling, etc. Not very long, but at least a page in .doc format.

c) Web Hunt: This is a experimental one, if it succeeds, we'll repeat it on future comps. Crawl through the Net and find anything, ANYTHING that mixes Star Wars and Christmas. Could be pictures, wallpapers, e-cards, websites, flash movies, midis, or whatever.
Conditions: starwars.com resources like their pics and the new StarWars browser are NOT accepted. Submissions of things over 200 kb will be made as URLs, anything less will be done in zip format to my mailbox.
The best submission wins, either the most funnier, or the one with the most quality.

d) Roster Booster: Anyone who recruits a member for the squad will win.

Point system:
-Participating in a section: 1 point. (with the exception of the Roster Booster section)
-Winning a section: 2 points. (with the exception of the Roster Booster section)
-Winning the Roster Booster section: 4 points.
In case of a tie in any section, both member will get the points.
Obvioulsy, who gets the most point will win the whole comp.

Even as it hasn't started yet, you may begin preparing your fiction and web hunt submissions, but do not submit till I say it has started.

-The first edition of the Kappa Online Meeting on mIRC has been made last Saturday!!! With almost 100% assistance, I want to acknowledge LT Razor, the Kappa Online Meeting Coordinator. His work has achieved something I tried to do since I joined Kappa, and failed several times. Kappa hug!!
The meeting was the usual messy Kappa party, check out the log. (attached)
AND THIS SHALL GO ON!!!

-Operation 'Release the Ties' results are soon to be released...stay tuned.

Squadron Orders
-------------------------

-Submit to the Ships Enciclopaedia and the Cadet Guide. THIS IS AN ORDER!! The cadet guide has PRIORITY!!

-Start preparing submissions for the Kappa Holiday Comp

-And since we're order loose here, you all are to submit your skill profiles and uniforms on the database. (Tempest, your uni will be due soon...in the meantime... here, have this paper sheet and cover you genitals :p)

[[ ]] ---> Roasty's word :p
TC Message Center moderators wanted
I'm looking for responsible message board moderators for the main TIE Corps forums, particularly with the Training/Help Forum where some members seem to enjoy breaking the rules and recruit for their squadrons or wing or ship on there. The requirements are simple: Be a TIE Corps member, be able to check the message boards at least once or twice a day, and hold the rank of Commander or higher.

If you'd like to apply, please e-mail Sector Admiral Kawolski with your application and PIN #.

[[ Apply and get some MB banning fun!! :p ]]

Uniform artist needed

Grand Admiral Ronin needs a good and enthusiastic artist to create his uniforms for the Skye Rangers (GA Ronin's MechWarrior club). The uniforms components are all ready, but they must be assembled in a form that the Fleet Commander finds to his liking - mainly from the information you will receive. You will be rewarded in the Emperor's Hammer for the work. The object is to do a quick and good job. If you are interested please e-mail Grand Admiral Ronin and his Attaché Admiral Keiran Idanian. Thank you!

[[ Mech Warrior...nice game ]]

First Templar
20:03 - LC Chrusos Ichthys [VitCarp@stardestroyer.org]
Captain Brucmack of the ISD Grey Wolf is the first Pilot to achieve the FCHG rank of Templar. Congrats to him and his extraordinary flying ability.

[[ Gah...The Roastymon will reach him soon... :p Or, Jan and his madman FCHG scaling will...(if I let him...muahaha!!! :p ]]

BSF backlog processed

I've finished processing all 350+ backlogged BSFs and I'll continue to do any more incoming ones until Fleet Admiral Striker returns.

[[ Yay! Kawolski dance :p ]]

AIM Security Advisory
AOL AIM versions prior to 4.3.2229 have several exploits contained in them. They are described in an @Stake.com advisory here: http://www.atstake.com/research/advisories/2000/a121200-1.txt.

You can find out what version of AIM you are running by opening up your AIM window, clicking the help menu, and selecting "About AOL Instant Messenger...". A small box will pop up, and in it, you can find the exact version of AIM that you are using. You can download the latest version of AOL AIM from: http://www.aol.com/aim/download.html. Of course, you could always just do yourself a favour and delete AIM altogether, and install ICQ & mIRC.

[[ Listen to the man... AOL is the Antichrist's tool of domination :p ]]

Experimental TC Report System
An experimental TIE Corps report system has been up for Squadron Commanders, Wing Commanders, Commodores, Battlegroup Commanders, Task Force Commanders, and Task Unit Commanders. Simply log in at the Administration section and click "Add New TC Report" and you can add reports of the past and present. Links to the reports are on the rosters. ---->[[As I said, I've added the reports for Kappa. Go check em out!!!]]

"One world, one release"

[[As many of us Kappans are not from the US, this is a campaign of interest. It's a petition to Lucasfilm, in order to get a worldwide simultaneous release of Episode II, so go vote, that way you'll avoid going to the theather with every single line of dialog memorized, thanks to our nice American spoiler guys :p The url is: http://www.starwarsnews.de/release/ ]]
