Asp Squadron Commander’s Report 03.09.02

CMDR’s Thoughts:
I will be a bit busier than normal this next week since I will also be filling in as the A-WC while LC Dengar March is on leave. Therefore if I am delayed by a day or so in submitting pilot files or responding to emails please understand that I am not ignoring anyone, but may possibly be swamped with other email and duties, as well as my RL job. Other than that you can expect that I will handle all Squadron related business with the same speed and reliability that the Squadron has always expected of its CMDR! ;)

Yay!! We received three new pilots this week! And you know I’m all about new pilots joining our ranks. Welcome LT Aragorn Strider, and SL’s Leriss Endenoch and Bud to Asp!!

Also, LT Aragorn Strider is the new FL for Flight III! During his short time serving in Wing III on the SSSD Sovereign he proved his capabilities to be a very active pilot. Together with LCM John Clark Asp now has three very strong FL’s that will be working together in the future to see that Asp continues to grow in activity and strength!!

I’d like to remind everyone that the more we contact the Cadets offering assistance the more pilots will join us. LCM Clark and I are spending quite a bit of time reaching out to the Cadets, and as you all can see three new pilots in the past few weeks speak highly of our contact with them. Therefore I expect to see more involvement from the entire Squadron in this effort. You newer pilots, your contact with the Cadets is even more important since you are more up-to-date with the procedures on the M/PLT Daedaleus, and can more easily help the newer members. ;)

SL Leriss Endenoch was promoted to Lieutenant! Congrats on your promotion Leriss!!

I want to point out that each month I am recommending an ISM or PC to the pilot that shows the most activity, or the most increase in overall activity from the previous month. This means that on top of the TOP ACE Comp, and other competitions, you all have an equal chance of scoring one of these merit medals for your hard work. In the past two months LCM John Clark has been awarded medals for his activity. Therefore I encourage everyone to make more of an effort in the future if you wish to receive the honor of these medals.

Speaking of medals and honors, who is up to keeping the CMDR from being the TOP ACE for March? To be honest the CMDR shouldn’t be winning this at all! And now that we have yet another new pilot, that means there are now eight pilots in our ranks for me to compete against. I hope that at least one or two of you are ready to knock this old man off his pedestal and claim the honor of TOP ACE!!

I have a special assignment for each of you during this next week. I want each of you to submit a bio about yourself to the CMDR by Thursday at the latest. It is entirely up to you what it contains, but I’d like to see some information about yourselves so that your fellow wing mates can learn a bit more about who they serve with. After all, the best way for a Squadron to play and fly together is if they know each other, and the only person that can tell that story is you! So its time to break out of the shyness routine that several of you have been hiding behind and tell everyone about yourself. ;P

This weekend I will be releasing the first ever Asp Standing Orders! LC Dengar March has approved the ASPSO after reviewing it, but has indicated one minor revision which I will be making before adding the document to the Asp site this weekend. Once it is ready I will be sending copies of the entire SO to the FL’s so that they will have a copy for reference offline, and will then notify the entire Squadron once its been uploaded to the Asp site. Once everyone has been notified it is up and ready to be viewed, I expect the entire Squadron to read it over, because it will list important details on what is expected of every member in the Squadron, including the FL’s and CMDR.

Prelude to Andevia:
The competition has been extended until 3/14/02, so still plenty of time to rack up those wins for the MP Ladder, or even invest a little time into submitting something to the other events! Show your support for the TIE Corps and participate! You can learn more about this exciting EH-wide competition at http://www.imperialacademy.org/comps/prelude

Asp Squadron TOP ACE Competition:
Looks like this week LT Gistenjunge gets the SP Kill Point! Congrats Gistenjunge!! J

Who’s up to taking the honor next week?

I’m glad to see more participation in the TOP ACE Comp now. Remember, winning LoC’s at any TIE Corps scheduled MP match also count for Kill Points.

This week, fly XvT-Free #54! All pilot files must be in my inbox my 12 PM (EST) Thursday in order to count for this round. Lets get to those fighters and get busy folks!

Multi-Player Competitions:
Just a reminder to everyone that there are plenty of MP competitions you can jump into each week. I encourage anyone that has the time, and hopefully a decent connection to make an attempt as often as possible to join in! ;)

Recruiting:
Two new recruits, and another new pilot on the way at this time! All we need are two more pilots and we’ll be at full strength!! That will definitely be a reason to celebrate around here. hehehe

Battle Citations:
With the arrival of new pilots we have lost all of our Battle Citations that we had. I will be endeavoring to find time to fully update the Battle Citation board on the Asp site this weekend so that everyone can see which Battle Citations we are the closest to winning back. In the meantime I encourage everyone, especially our newest pilots, to fly as many XvT Battles as you can in the near future so that we can get our Citations back. LT Leriss Endenoch has already pledged to do this in an effort to help Asp win more Battle Citations than Avenger Squadron! Since I hold no special love for the Elite Squadrons, I’m all about accepting that challenge! J

EH/TC News and Information:
Ø Prelude to Andevia's closing date has been extended by one week, to 14th March 2002. The competition really needs entries in the fiction, design and other category sections. Most of the fiction events have been updated so you can now work in teams on them if you so wish. Also, some rules have been updated, so be sure to check the competition's site for details on this. Tip on fiction stuff - one of your main goals with your fiction is to give some sort of explanation for what's happened on Andevia. So, for example, when doing an alien species entry, it'd be a good idea to include some sort of characteristic that would result in the events so far.
The competition website is http://www.imperialacademy.org/comps/prelude/.
Ø The Advanced Guard Banner comp is now officially open. The comp will be running from 3/04/02 to 3/18/02. All submissions must be in tasteful size, and should be sent to jacobvannowak@aol.com Awards will be:
IS-GR- First place
IS-SR- Second Place
IS-BR- Third Place
This comp. is open to the whole fleet, so have fun 8-)
Ø The February XVT WoW has ended with the EH finishing in 8th Place out of 40 Clubs. The top performing units from the Tie Corps were:
1. Avenger Squadron 5,522,282 Points
2. Tau 1,500,314 Points
3. Wing XX 1,034,432 Points
The individual top performers were:
1. CM BlackHero 103 Wins
2. SL Heinrich Margul 14 Wins
3. GN Kaerner 13 Wins
3. MAJ Sarin 13 Wins
Congrats to all those who participated and did a great job representing the Tie Corps.
Ø In an effort to get some multiplatform combat going, LT Akira Vorsahyer has put together a small website containing links to Star Wars mods for games running on Windows, Mac, and even a few on Linux. The site can be found at http://homepage.mac.com/richpizor/xplat/
Ø A second trailer for Jedi Knight 2 has been released and this one is pretty good. Twice the length of the one on the Lucasarts site, it gives a very nice indication of the scale of the levels we can expect, the gameplay and what multiplayer will look like. The good thing is it doesn't seem to play like a Quake 3 mod. You can get it at http://files.ausgamers.com/?agn=details&id=1621. The trailer is 14.6megs and a zipped AVI file, using the Divx codec.
Ø Major Talek Pter Dei has been selected as the new Wing Commander for Wing XVIII on the SSD Avenger. Congrats Talek!
Ø Congratulations go today to Fleet Admiral Priyum Patel who has been awarded the highest medal of the Emperor's Hammer, the Medal of Honor, for his great work as Flight Officer ! Go Pri ;-)
