This report is a little bit late, but I already explained it to you. Now, let's get down to bussines. We have one week till the end of the competition. We can say that we have a lot of time but remember that time is running out very fast. So get you starfighters prepared and fly for the glory of Diamondback. I will try to participate as much as I can till Wednesday Evening, because I am going on a short leave [sorry, I can do anything about this matter, my parents made a decision].
I will be absent from 29.05.02 to 02.06.02. My new XO is CPT Drako. Any battles you will complete, are to be send to him. He will forward them to our WC and make a list of which people flew the following battles. I hope it is not to complicated. I have to say this month was the worst month in my entire life, I mean the RL thigns. At least May is on the end. And by the way, my MSE will be released soon. I think only few of you will be rewarded. You know that this month was quiet so do not expect to much. Of course I will try to do my best, but it is up to yours and my superiors. Ahh, I almost forgot, I have been promoted to Captain. Drinks are on me :]

= "Lost Souls [Part Two]" =
Doors of the turbolift opened and two pilots entered the Intrepid's bridge. They were still in their flight suits, because they were ordered to report to VA Brakka as soon as they land. CPT Drako led the way. It wasn't his first time on bridge, so he knew where to go. CM Arti followed. Although Arti was in service for more than two years, he had never seen a bridge before. "Not many pilots made it here" he thought and smiled. When both pilots entered the bridge's main section, they saw VA Brakka and their WC, COL Wil Striker. They stopped and saluted.
- At ease - VA Brakka ordered - So, what's so important that your FL didn't want to use a standard comm channel? - he continued.
- We've found an abandoned base - Drako answered - and... - Drako paused for a moment. Once again he thought about his theory. It was definitely a weird theory, but for the time being he didn't have any other.
- Please, go on - Brakka said.
- ... and I think this is an Old Republic base - Drako ended.
The look of consternation and surprise went through COM's and WC's face.
- The IFF looks like as an Old Republic one. I'm of course not one hundred percent sure about this. I've also ordered the technicians to check my flight record as soon as I landed - CTP Drako added quickly as if he wanted to give an excuse for his theory.
VA Brakka considered something for a second and then ordered on of the communication officers to gather a report from technicians. While COM was giving the order, COL Striker addressed to CPT Drako:
- Give us some more information about this base.
- There is a VSD in the area, named Republican. Besides the VSD, there are two platforms, and some fighters. They all seem to be disabled and offline. We didn't detect any life forms - Drako answered.
WC turned to COM and said:
- I think we should look for that VSD in our archives, sir.
- Yes, I agree. - VA Brakka answered.
Just when COM finished saying, an officer walked in, saluted and gave VA Brakka a data pad.
- This is the technicians' report, sir - he said.
- Thank you - COM answered and looked at the datapad.
He read the report quickly and then gave it to COL Striker. Then he turned to both pilots and said:
- CPT Drako, CM Arti, you've done a good job. You are dismissed. Get some rest. We might need you, when we reach that base.
Drako and Arti straightened up, saluted and left the bridge.
When both pilots were gone, COL Striker asked:
- So, we are going there?
- Yes. You've seen the report Wil. It's definitely an Old Republic IFF. Do you think it might be a trap? - VA Brakka asked his WC.
- I don't think so. After all, those recon flights wasn't in our normal mission objectives and were are in this sector rather by chance. - WC answered.
- Yes, I see. Nevertheless I want to be prepared for anything. As soon as we'll get there, I want you to create a fighter screen around Intrepid.
- Of course! Viper and Asp squadrons will be launched. I also advise launching a Diamondback I as a heavy assault - COL Striker said.
- It's your call, Wil. Just be ready to protect Intrepid. - VA Brakka finished.
- I wish, they hurried it up - LCM Ace said - It's getting really dull out here - he finished.
- Patience Ace - LCM Derek Dan answered - I'm sure they'll get here as soon as possible - he added.
- It's hard be to patient after six hours of flying in circles - Ace joked.
Derek smiled but didn't answered. Although Ace was in service for only four months, he already had a very good combat record. He was a great pilot, but still he needed to learn that service in EH doesn't always mean shooting at Rebels and getting in to action. Most of the time it's hard work going for long recons or escorting convoys for several days. "Heh, he still has much time to learn" - Derek thought.
- Finally! - Ace shouted with relief when he saw a red dot on his scanner.
A huge star destroyer entered they area. As soon as it came to a stop, several starfighters were launched.
"Diamondback II, this is Intrepid's flight control. You may return to Intrepid. Viper and Asp will take over the patrol. Intrepid out" - a voice in speakers said.
- Heh, you've heard him Ace. Let's go - Derek ordered.
- Yes, sir! - Ace answered happily.
As the two T/D were getting ready to enter hangar a flight of MISs launched.
- Isn't that flight one? - Ace asked but before Derek was able to answer both pilots heard a familiar voice.
- Yes, that's us.
- Glad to here you, CM Michael! - Derek answered.
- He, he, it's CPT Michael this time, Derek - CM Tvan'Oris joined the conversation.
- Congratulations, sir - LCM Dan said.
- Thanks, but let's wait with celebrations until we are back - CPT Michael answered.
The was much commotion on Intrepid's bridge. When the ISD entered the area, wide scans had been initiated and first reports were just being processed by various officers. VA Brakka stood in front of a large screen and looked at the data received.
"CPT Drako was right, there is no life here" he thought after analyzing a piece of data. He looked at the data for a moment longer and then addressed to one of the officers:
- Have you found something about that VSD?
Officer looked quickly at the datapad and answered:
- Not yet sir. Our archives concerning Old Republic period are not full and are mostly damaged.
- Keep looking. Send a request to main archives on Aurora along with my report to High Command immediately.
- Yes sir! - the officer nodded.
VA Brakka walked to another officer and asked him:
- How are the preparations proceeding?
- Stormtroopers are already onboard the ATR. Should I contact them? - the officer asked.
- Yes, put me through to CPT Devlin.
After a moment a link was established.
"This is CTP Devlin. Awaiting your orders, sir"
- CPT, take your men to that VSD and inspect and capture hangar bay area. Be very careful. We haven't detected any life forms onboard, but there may be some automatic defense mechanisms still operational there. When the bay is secured, we'll send our technicians - VA Brakka ordered.
"Understood, sir!" - CPT Devlin replied.
When VA Brakka got confirmation from CPT Devlin, he addressed to the officer:
- I want to maintain a comm link with the ATR during this operation.
- Yes, sir. I'll notify you, sir, when the ATR will enter the VSD's hangar bay - officer replied.
After a few minutes the ATR reached it's destination. Meanwhile, COL Striker joined VA Brakka on the bridge.
"This is CPT Devlin, we are entering the hangar"
- Sir, we have a video image from CPT Devlin's head camera - one of the officers reported.
- Put it on screen - COM ordered.
The image was unstable and very dark.
- It won't help us much - VA Brakka said and ordered CPT Devlin:
- Proceed with mission and report everything you see.
"It is very dark here, sir. Seems that most of the systems are down but the bay's protective field is intact, so there is normal atmosphere here. My troops are leaving the ATR now."
"Group one secure the landing zone. Group two proceed to turbo lifts and secure them. Group three repair the lights"
"Group one reporting. Landing zone secured"
"Sir, I've got a bio contamination signal"
"Wait a moment, I'll check it ... No, everything is normal. You must have a malfunction. Return to the ATR private"
"Yes, sir"
"Group two reporting. Turbolifts secured. Wait ... there something it th lift ... "
"Whoa, what's that!"
"What's going on private?"
"Sir, look at his uniform, I've neve......."
"Private?"
"Private, report!"
"I.... I can't........ breathe .... lp me"
VA Brakka looked at WC. There was something wrong.
"Sir, I........ ffocating!"
- What's going on CPT Devlin?!? - COM shouted.
"Sir, .... troops ....... wrong can't ....... dying. Abort, abo .......... to ATR" - the transmission was broken.
- CPT, report mission status! - COM shouted once again but instead of an answers, he heard screams of those dying.
- Sir, the ATR has left the VSD and is heading for Intrepid - an officer reported.
- Try to hail them - VA Brakka ordered.
- No response, sir.
- Sir, the ATR is on a autopilot - another officer reported.
- Any life readings? - COM asked.
- My readings aren't clear. I'm not sure - officer responded.
- Put me through - COM ordered.
- This is VA Brakka. Stop at once or we will open fire.
The VA's order surprised those on bridge. Despite of the threat, the ATR was still flying towards the ISD. COM repeated his order:
- This is a final warning. Stop or be destroyed!
There was no answer again.
VA Brakka looked at COL Striker and said:
- Which flight is near the ATR?
- Diamondback I, sir - WC answered.
- Open comm channel with them - COM ordered.
- Hey, look , the ATR is leaving the VSD - LT Hubert noticed.
- It didn't took them long - LCM Chris added.
- Something is not right here - CPT Michael said - They should have waited for the technicians to get to the VSD - he continued.
- Flight control, what's going on? - he asked.
"We are having some problems. Stay on your positi.."
Answer from Intrepid's flight control was broken by another transmission.
"This is VA Brakka. Diamondback I, target the ATR and destroy it"
CPT Michael couldn't believe in what he had just heard. There must had been some mistake. He couldn't just fire at a friendly ship.
- Intrepid, requesting confirmation on your last order - he said.
"We don't have time for this, CPT!" - VA Brakka shouted.
"Destroy it before it reaches Intrepid!" - COM added.
Though greatly surprised, Michael gave an order.
- Flight one, target the ATR and ..... - Michael hesitated. He though was he was about to do. If this was a Rebel ATR he wouldn't worry. He would destroy it immediately. But those men on the ATR weren't foes. Their were fighting for the same ideals he was. Why was he ordered to kill them? Maybe they betrayed the EH, or maybe this is all just a test to see if he is loyal? Thoughts like this were pumping in his mind one after another. But then one thought came.
"Were are here to follow orders, not to question them".
- .... fire - Michael ended with sad.
He turned his head way, closed his eyes and pushed the trigger. A single missile fire. Three other joined. The flight made a sharp turn left.
Michael didn't wanted to see this, but he needed to confirm a kill. He looked at his CMD and saw as a helpless ATR is hit by his missile. It wasn't destroyed yet. It was just spinning without control. The remaining three missiles finished the job. When the ATR's hull broke up, Michael though he heard the screams of those inside, ... cursing him.
There was silence. Dead silence. Nobody wanted to say even a word. With all the training and experience they had, still they weren't prepared for something like this.
- Intrepid. Target destroyed. CPT Michael out - CPT Michael reported.
