The last month of the year has begun. And with it, we see a new IWATS/IU course:
Star Conflict which will teach you the basics. And this
shortly after I had started mailing a few people on getting together to do just this. Well, we can always continue with more in-depth
strategy courses per match type, which was the original idea.... To those who take it and pass: fwd me the email so I can add it to
your profile. I have already done so, as has your COM.
We'll ignore this week's medal flood, since that was still part of last month's competitions, but suffice to say there were plenty.
Including a trivia victory once again for CPT Fenn. And trivia this week was hard, only 5 correct answers
submitted all week, less than half of what was submitted!
This week also saw a new participant in the COM's flying competition. Alas, only one pilotfile submitted, but that can be different
this week. And one was enough, as MAJ Delak Krennel immediately took first place with his XWA pilotfile.
Good job, sir!
TIE Golf 2014 has ended, with MAJ Plif finally defeating HA Frodo in the 3rd match of the Grand Finale.
The mission I created for this task did its job, although barely. Despite my best efforts, MAJ Plif was still able to get a perfect
score of 2,750 points. Well done, sir! The mission has been released to the Compendium as TIE free 289
so feel free to go fly it yourself now!
No matter what happens in the future, this past week will be one I shall personally remember for a long time. The reason is simple: one
of the goals I had set for myself back when, a few weeks after I joined this TC, has finally been achieved. With my submission of a
pilotfile for TIE free 42 and XW IW 7, I have finally completed the entire Mission Compendium1)
- all Flight Sim custom EH missions have been flown. And no, I had not mysteriously forgotten about TIE free 42 several times as I
reported last week - I had knowingly skipped that piece of trash. I had tried several times, but never managed to succeed in my lonely
unshielded TIE Fighter against wave after wave of enemy Missile Boat with heavy rockets and other enemy fighters with advanced missiles.
But it's done, and I'll never have to fly it again!
In the mean time, the Mission Compendium still stands to grow, with one X-wing battle being tested (thank you very much LC Impulse), and
another one still in need of a tester. And then there's a handful of other battles still awaiting release. Also, a battle has been submitted
to fill the gap that is BoP TC 10. Sounds like it's going to be a fun year next year!
The TCCOM also is working hard on revising the TIE Corps Pilot Manual - can't wait to see it updated. The current version is badly out of
date on some parts. Also nice: COL BubbaX has started a new discussion about the TC website. He's got some
interesting ideas, and although I'm heavily biased towards what we have now, it might be a good idea to change things up a bit. But that'll
also be a long term project I think.
1) this excludes the JA and SWGB missions in the Compendium, they don't count to me as they're not flight sims.
