KAPPA SQUADRON REPORT, 6th May 2002, Captain Algaron

- The Kappa vs. Praetorian Squadron has concluded Week 2. I have uploaded all the results to the website - check the link to the competition on the Kappa HP Status page. Needless to say Kappa has taken a commanding lead after Prae could only get 4 TFRs together for the deadline. Tempest top scored for Kappa Squadron, and Hermann once again led the fight for Prae. I was glad to see Artyis get the 2nd best Kappa score after only having been in the squadron for 24 hours. Well done everyone, but we are only half way through so we need to maintain the performances. For details of the Week 3 assignment check the Squadron Orders section.
- We have a wonderful new member of Kappa Squadron. After a time in the Reserves, MAJ Artyis has come out of retirement, to team up once again with his ex-Sigma colleague Tod. He brings invaluable experience and flying ability to the Squadron, and I for one am delighted to have him alongside us. Welcome to the Squadron Artyis! I was always a good friend of Sigma Squadron, and had a great relationship with Tod and Artyis. To now have them both in my Squadron is a very great honour. Hopefully there presence might inspire some of the other Sigma veterans to consider throwing their lot back in the ring with us. Watch this space.........
- On a less positive note I have to sadly announce the imminent departure of CM Ninja. It appears the draw of command and leadership was too much for him, and his application to take over the reigns of Slayer Squadron has been accepted. Ninja will be leaving us for his new post over the next couple of days and in doing so will bring his third tour with Kappa Squadron to an end. Good luck for the future Ninj.
- The highest KAPS point scorer for the month of April was LC Todbringer. It was very close with consistent activity througout the Squadron, which of course makes for a happy CMDR! Well done to Tod, and everyone else who performed so well in April. I will update the Status page with all the up to date KAPS points shortly.
- The results of the Kappa vs. Sin Squadron can be announced when I have collated all the TFRs from Kappa - next couple of days probably.
- Dash Riprock continues to work on the KSE site. The website URL for his work in progress site is http://minos.net/~kse/news.php
- I have made a decision on the Kappa Flight II Leader. After his level of activity over the last month and role in bringing new pilots into the Squadron, I am pleased to announce LC Todbringer as my man for the job. Please give him every assistance in his new role. I will take a couple of days whilst I clear this with the FO for the change to be made.
- GN Ford has announced two competitions to run throughout May encompassing recruitment and drinking song creation for the SSSD Sovereign. You should have all received the eMails with the details regarding this, but if you haven't I will forward them on upon request. I think, given my now famous Friday night appearances in #airlock54 whilst heavily under the influence, that I can get inspired to compose something a bit special.

- Kappa vs. Praetorian Squadron - we are into Week 3 and the assignment is TIE-FREE 141 (attached). The deadline is Sunday 5th May. We need to keep the pressure up so 100% participation again. The competition has now got official approval, and I can announce that the top overall scorer in each Squadron will be awarded the Iron Star - Bronze Wings, along with a nice KAPS bonus. - Recruitment - please lend assistance to CM Tempest in his efforts to recruit new pilots.
- The New Face of Kappa - Flight II is working on their motto, and I am working on Flight I. We also need a new motto for the Squadron so get any suggestions into me ASAP.
- Kappa Squadron Encylopaedia - if you have any submissions email them to Dash and myself and I will award KAPS points for your work.
- Fiction Competition - as you know I am writing a fictional epic titled "Apocalypse Rising" - I've written the prologue, but Chapter 1 will be bang up to date and incorporate all of you guys. I therefore want you to write your own mini-autobiographies so that I get an impression of how to build your personalities into the finished work. It doesn't have to be overlong - just something that I can use to help writing your character into my story - attitudes, allignments, physical appearance, mentality etc. - be creative, but be serious. I will also publish any work on your profile page of the Kappa HP. If I could have submissions by the end of the month it would be most appreciated. I'll give 5 KAPS points for entries, and a further 5 for the one I judge to be the best. Get that creative juice flowing. Keep those entries coming in.
