- Another ex-Kappan has returned home to us this week. It is a great pleasure to welcome back Dash Riprock to Kappa Squadron. He joins Tempest and Ninja in Flight III. Tempest said he's buying the beers, so get over to #airlock54 and drink his wallet dry!
- Jan Wemmel has been appointed as the next Fleet Medical Officer. This honour will see him rise to the rank of Rear Admiral! Sadly, however, it will also mean that Jan will shortly be leaving his position in Kappa Squadron to take his place on the Last Hope with the rest of the top brass. We will wish him every success in his future role. Don't forget us Jan.
- The Kappa website is back up and running at its usual URL. I've updated a lot of it, but it still needs a bit more work. Expect it to be bang up to date by the weekend.
- CM Tempest has won the latest Kappa Training round, recording 4 new mission high scores, and a new battle high score (279141). Roasty later took two of these high scores away from Temp, but failed to eclipse his total (211513). Zyrax took third place with a typically good scoring effort (192360). My score in comparison was a very distant fourth (120407), but as your CMDR any disparaging comments will be met with harsh disciplinary action.
- Speaking of flying I am in the process of arranging an inter-squadron competition with the elite Praetorian Squadron. To state that I would expect 100% participation from any such encounter is a massive understatement. I await CMDR Loor's response to my challenge and will announce any details forthwith.

- The New Face of Kappa - we have all the new nicknames sorted as follows - Kappa Squadron will be known as "The Dragons of Wing II", and the flights will be named "Wyvern Flight, Gryphon Flight, and Midgard Flight" respectively - need those mottos now, so get your thinking caps on. KAPS points go those suggestions I end up using.
- Kappa Squadron Encylopaedia - as always, if you have any submissions for this I'll incorporate them into the site and award KAPS points for good work.
- Fiction Competition - as you know I am writing a fictional epic titled "Apocalypse Rising" - I've written the prologue, but Chapter 1 will be bang up to date and incorporate all of you guys. I therefore want you to write your own mini-autobiographies so that I get an impression of how to build your personalities into the finished work. It doesn't have to be overlong - just something that I can use to help writing your character into my story - attitudes, allignments, physical appearance, mentality etc. - be creative, but be serious. I will also publish any work on your profile page of the Kappa HP. If I could have submissions by the end of the month it would be most appreciated. I'll give 5 KAPS points for entries, and a further 5 for the one I judge to be the best. Get that creative juice flowing.
