KAPPA SQUADRON REPORT, 4th June 2002, Major Algaron

- Well the World Cup has started and Algaron is drooling at the prospect of a months worth of the beautiful game. Kappa Squadron members saw mixed fortunes from their respective teams. Algaron (England) and Zyrax (Sweden) saw their sides play out a 1-1 draw which could have gone either way. Tod, Artyis and Regis (our Polish contingent) will be very disappointed to see their side go down 2-0 to co-hosts South Korea. Tempest (Germany) will be delighted to see his team rack up 8 goals against a very poor Saudi Arabian side. Shimir (United States?) has yet to see his side play, but they kick off tomorrow against the classy Portugese. Dash will be watching as a neutral spectator as Holland failed to qualify for the finals, and given that I'm not sure where our newest recruit Grinning Donkey is from I can't comment yet on his sides fortunes. Any comments along the lines of "it's only a game" at any point during the next 3 weeks will be met with bitter disapproval from yours truly.
- As mentioned above we have a couple of new recruits to Kappa Squadron this week. Thanks to CM Tempest's great efforts as recruitment co-ordinator our numbers have swelled to 10. Shimir Sheerelk and the interestingly named Grinning Donkey both join to fill up the Flight III roster - although the process of asking the Flight Office to move Donkey into Tempest's Tie Defender Flight has seen him mistakenly transfered into Tempest Squadron!!!! Rest assured I have contacted the FO to revert this misunderstanding ASAP - no need to panic!!
- Both our new recruits quickly met the requirements for promotion, so congratulations Lieutenants Shimir and Grinning Donkey!
- Speaking of promotions, I would like to thank GN Ford and all of you guys for my recent promotion to Major. A Commander is only as good as the pilots he commands, and I firmly believe that I've got the best Squadron members in the Tie Corps here. Go Kappa!
- The Hammer Squadron competition is on. We are going to fly 4 FREE-TIE missions over the course of the next month with weekly announcements made in this WSR (which I am moving to Tuesday's for the duration of the competition). The top 5 scores recorded by each Squadron will count towards the total each week. Our first assignment is FREE-TIE 113 (attached) for a Monday 10th June deadline. As always 100% effort is expected and demanded. I have cc'd the Hammer CMDR MAJ Jaruus on this WSR so he can report back to his Squadron with the details.
- The deadline for the Wing I vs. Wing II competition has ended - we await the results with baited breath.
- Please can all pilots who haven't done so yet go to the Kappa Battle Board and submit their battles/missions. The URL is http://minos.net/~kse/kbb/main.php - I would like this fully up-to-date ASAP. Get in touch with Dash if you need help with loggin out and administration.
- Kappa Squadron has a new motto. I have chosen Tempest's suggestion of honor sit mihi lux, et draco sit mihi dux (May Honour be my Light, and the Dragon be my Guide). Which leads me onto the next competition...... We now need a new Squadron Banner and I'll be awarding large KAPS bonuses to all submissions, and an even large one for the winner. Get designing pilots. Tempest receives 2 KAPS points for suggesting the motto.
- Imperial Storm III is fast approaching a major confrontation between the Sov and the Avenger. Friday 12PM EST (5 PM BST) is the time to assemble in #project_faithful for what could prove to be the most important turning point in the game. Wing II has been showing great commitment to the Sov's cause (far more than any other Wing) - so let's keep it up.

- Helped by my promotion that KAPS winner for May was myself with 56 points, but Tempest's haul of 44 points sees him climb to the top of the overall standings. For the new guys amongst you the KAPS system is my own creation for tracking pilot activity. You will see the weeks KAPS point awards in the Squadron Activity section, but I would also advise checking out my Kappa website Status page for full details and current standings. - I would like to see LT Shimir and LT Grinning Donkey in #airlock54 so that they can introduce themselves to the rest of the Squadron and Wing. You will need to download mIRC32, and either take the IWATS mIRC courses or speak to your Flight Leader (CM Tempest) if you have any problems/questions. We can then look at organising another online Squadron meeting.

- Kappa Squadron Encylopaedia - if you have any submissions email them to Dash and myself and I will award KAPS points for your work.
- Fiction Competition - as you know I am writing a fictional epic titled "Apocalypse Rising" - I've written the prologue, but Chapter 1 will be bang up to date and incorporate all of you guys. I therefore want you to write your own mini-autobiographies so that I get an impression of how to build your personalities into the finished work. It doesn't have to be overlong - just something that I can use to help writing your character into my story - attitudes, allignments, physical appearance, mentality etc. - be creative, but be serious. I will also publish any work on your profile page of the Kappa HP. I'll give 5 KAPS points for entries, and a further 5 for the one I judge to be the best. Get that creative juice flowing. Keep those entries coming in. I'll keep this here for the new guys amongst us, but I'm about to start work on Chapter 1 so if you have anything email it to me ASAP.
