===The Plight of Vortex Squadron: Part One===

Red lights flashed and a siren hooted loudly throughout the ISD Greywolf. CM Tk-6686 jumped out of his bunk just missing a collision with his closet he quickly pulled his lucky flightsuit out of his closet. Pulling it on hastily, Tk grabbed his helmet and began his run to the hangar bay. He was no further than the door of his room when he turned the corner and ran head first straight into his new Commander! Captain Kodiak Kereban.
Rubbing his head Tk asked quickly, "Sir, what are you doing here? We're meant to be heading to the hangar bay!"
Looking at the ground embarassedly he said "I forgot my helmet. I was just running back to get it."
"Oh, alright... well, I'll get the squadron through it's pre-flight tests ready for you to give us a quick briefing before take-off."
"Thanks Tk! I'll be right there."

Shortly after in the hangar bay.

"Vortex 3-4, The Deamon is ready to fly"
"Alright men, the Captain is in the house. Listen up!"
"Thanks Tk. Alright men, the ISD Greywolf's sensors have discovered an anomaly right in the middle of our hyperspace path. This anomaly is not on any star charts so it's most likely a Rebel Interdictor cruiser that's waiting to pull us out of hyperspace. However it is imperative that you don't go into any fight we may have assuming things.
It could be anything waiting for us out there and we'll have to make up a majority of our tactics as we fly."

CM Tk-6686 sat in the semi-comfortable chair of his relatively new Missile Boat. He had become used to flying a Missile Boat, even though he still longed to fly in dogfights again either in his ild TIE Interceptor or his favourite TIE Advanced from the Academy.
After the transfer of LCM Peh to Avenger Squadron, Tk had taken back his spot as a Flight Leader of Vortex 2 flight. Unfortunately, the rest of his flight was empty and all of the gaps in Vortex Squadron had been filled with replacement pilots from the reserves and local planets.
Luckily, you don't need to be the best pilot in the universe to fly a Missile Boat Trent mused to himself.

Flicking a switch inside his cockpit, Trent turned on the repulsorlifts in his ship and gave the order for the rest of his flight to do the same.
2 Flight had to get away quickly as all the flights with landing capabilities had to get out of the hangar bay before the TIE's in their racks could get away to their dogfights.
Trent had suggested to the Grey Wolf's Commodore, Azazel Djo'tarr that these procedures be changed as a safety precaution, reasoning that it's more important that the fighters get out early so that they can protect the exiting bombers. Azazel had agreed with the idea but it was yet to be approved by the Fleet Commander Priyum Patel.

The Missile Boat's engines roared as their throttles slowly made their way to full power.
"Vortex 2 Flight is away!" Trent said into the comm-link after the last pilot in his flight had left the hangar. Soon afterwards, all the Flights exiting after his had reported similarly.
Tk pulled his flight stick around in a lazy loop to meet up with the rest of Vortex Squadron.
Glancing at his sensors, Tk could see one large red dot but he was still too far away to visually identify any thing.

Trent was starting to get nervous, as they got closer to the seemingly imminent battle, he looked down at his sensors again. This time he swore...

"Sithspit!!! Um... Commander?"
"Yes Trent?"
"You may want to look at your scanners, I think we may be in some trouble."
" !@*$&$*& you're right, what in the world is that thing?"

THIS QUESTION AND MANY MORE WILL BE ANSWERED IN, THE PLIGHT OF VORTEX SQUADRON part 2
