Here's the fourth Nun report:

SQUADRON NEWS:

Activity was down a bit this week, I've had contact with 2 of my pilots. I unfortunately after writing this report will be requesting 2 transfers into the reserves for SL Lyon Krilbrook and LCM Darth Angelus. They have not even contacted me since I've started here. What a shame.

We've got THREE competitions going. They are:

Nun Fiction #1:

Watch for Nun's Most Active Flyer #2 coming soon!

SQUADRON STATUS:

As said above, we'll be down to 3 members pretty soon, putting us back on FA Cyric's list. Our recruiting efforts will have to double because we have only about a month left before we are deactivated.

ACTIVITY:

Commander Arcanix -
Wrote 3 recruiting e-mails. Another real busy RL week.
Battles pending, however :P

LCM Darth Angelus -
No Contact...You're out of here!

SL Lyon Krilbrook -
No Contact...You're out of here!

CPT Death Angel -

LT Mav Walker -
A great week spent here so far!
Mav has been promoted to full Lieutenant after:
Completing XWA-CAB 5 and participating in Nun Fiction #1.
He's also sent me other fiction and completed XvT-TC 20.

OTHER:

Since LT Walker has sent me fiction, I thought I'd add it to my report, possibly making fictions sent to me a recurring thing. Here's Mav's fiction:

The Run
By
FM/LT Mav Walker/Nun1-2/Wing V/SSSD Sovereign

The hum of the engines on the Missile boat was a soothing sound to Lieutenant Mav Walker. He had just been promoted and was still feeling the effects of his party the squad had thrown afterward. The day after had been almost a blur, from the effects of the Nun Beer or the lack of sleep he didn’t know.
Mav looked down at his tactical display, noting the position of his squadmates as well as his ride. The Sovereign was laid up in Aurora for supply and repairs; his temporary command ship was the Victory Star Destroyer Gilded Claw. They were to pull a few missions then return to the Sov as soon as it was finished.
The current mission called for an attack on a small New Republic outpost foolishly set up in Emperors Hammer territory. Command believed it was a first step to a possible invasion into the Minos Cluster. The orders were to destroy it and eradicate all traces that it had been there. So far the area around the base was quiet; it gave no indications that it was active.
“Five, this is One, any sign of any enemy patrols?” CM Arcanix radioed.
“Negative One. It looks really dead here,” the second flight leader replied.
Mav could not remember the name of the flight leader for the life of him. His brain was still fried out for some reason. A sudden noise caught his attention, it emanated from the tactical display.
“One, Two here. I have a new blip on my screen here, looks like a three ship patrol coming in from the far side of the planet. Maybe X-wings or Z95s,” Mav reported.
“Copy Two, all ships get ready to go. As soon as we get clearance we are going,” Mav checked all his settings. He adjusted the shield settings slightly to give him more engine power.
The word came down to begin their run. They would be escorted by a squadron from the Aggressor Strike Force, Wing XIV Mav guessed. The first flight flew by them at a great rate of speed, targeting the fighters. Mav noticed that they were TIE Phantoms; the three wings seemed to grow from the ball cockpit. Mav looked at his tactical screen and saw a very small blip indicating the ships.
‘Wow, those things are sweet,’ he thought to himself as the second flight of fighters passed him. They were Assault Gunboats; each one just looked tough, even though they were slower than the Phantoms. The next flight came by, they looked like TIE Fighters that had landed a little too hard and bent their wings. The TIE Vanguard was a tough ship from what he knew of them.
Mav throttled up and set his targets on the planetary defenses and any satellites. His tactical display didn’t show anything in the sky over the small planet, but why would they not have something. He didn’t have time to wonder about it as he throttled up to full power to match his commanders pace. The order to lock onto the planetary base came thru the comm. system. Mav had never done planetary attack in a Missile boat before. He had trained to do it in a Bomber, but they used a different set of munitions.
The Missile Boats came onto line and let loose a small volley of Heavy Rockets. The rockets left the ships; each heading to the target coordinates on the surface. The power of each rocket was enough to destroy a building of ten stories on the surface; they had launched almost twenty four of them.
Almost immediately enemy starfighters came swarming from all around them. The mix of X-Wings and A-wings seemed to appear from the vacuum of space; the area was empty one second and then full of red lasers. Mav knew that his squadron was now in the fight of their lives.
“One, we have six plus squadrons of enemy ships here. What are your orders?” Mav called.
“We are outnumbered, cut off from our escape route, and have a fifteen minute wait for re-enforcements. We do what we always do…we attack,” Mav smiled and switched to advanced concussion missiles. As soon as he switched on his targeting computer it went red. Mav stroked the trigger and launched at the X-wing in his crosshairs. The yellow flash impacted just behind the astromech, splitting the fighter in two. The cockpit section went spinning away as the engine half exploded.
Another kill for the side of his fighter, Mav watched as a few more green blips disappeared from the tactical display. The red blips were still outnumbered very badly. Arcanix was busy using his long range transmitter to call for help at that very moment. Mav hoped that they arrived in time. The bad thing about having the Claw wait just outside of the system that it took almost fifteen minutes to get it up to speed for even a micro jump. Starfighters could get here sooner, but the Claw only carried two other squads.
Mav watched as members of Cobra squadron under the command of Captain Kettch swung into action. His fighters broke into pairs and began to even the odds. Mav looked over and noticed an X-wing swing into the rear position of his fighter. Mav looped around and pulled a roll over to get on his tail. Mav switched his weapons over to the single laser and began to pour fire into the ships shields. The X-wing rolled out left and tried to get Mav to follow him into his wingmates line of fire. Mav didn’t take the bait and lined back up on his commanders wing.
“One, we have an enemy capitol ship decanting from hyperspace. Looks like an MC-80. Should we take it out?” Death Angel radioed.
“Negative Nine, we have as much as we can handle here,” Arcanix replied, “Concentrate on the fighters for now.”
Mav noticed that a new fighter appeared from nowhere on his scope. He decided to try and scan the area. He flipped on his sensor package and aimed it at the spot he saw the saw the fighter appeared from. He didn’t have time to see the results as his electronic counter measure turned yellow then red. A fighter had locked onto him with a missile. He hit his chaff and juked left. The missile shot past him and he targeted it and fired. The missile exploded with a bright flash.
“One, I have a weird reading from sector three. I think we need to investigate it a little. May tell us where these fighters came from,” Mav called.
“I hope that it explains this mess we are in Two. Break right and lead on, you have the lead,” Arcanix replied.
Mav rolled out and headed for the area he had noticed the weird readings. As he got closer to it, his sensors seemed to skip a small area; almost like that part of space just seemed to not exist. He could see stars but even in open space you still had readings from dust and other particles, but here there was nothing. As Mav reached the edge of the dead area, the star field seemed to turn black.
There in space ahead of him hung an old dreadnaught. Mav had never seen a dreadnaught with huge blisters like that before. He looked at his tactical display and noticed that he couldn’t read any others in his squadron besides Arcanixs ship.
“One, I think we are in the area of a cloaking device. I can’t read any other ships besides us and the enemy ships. I can’t raise them on the comm. either. I think we are in trouble here,” Mav called.
“I think that your right Two. We need to get out of here before we get hammered,” he turned his fighter back the way it came and headed out. Mav began to follow his turn when his ship wouldn’t respond.
“One I have a problem here. I think I am locked in a tractor. Head out and I’ll catch up,” Mav stopped fighting his controls and switched to heavy rockets.
‘Try to catch me huh?’ Mav thought, ‘Catch this.’ He said as he launched. The heavy rockets left his ship and were immediately caught in the tractor beams causing them to accelerate. What would have taken thirty seconds only took fifteen. Mav was still being pulled towards the ship when the rockets slammed into it. The concussion of the explosion sent Mavs fighter spinning free; he was trying to regain control when the dreadnaught finally exploded.
Mav guessed that the dreadnaught was putting all its power into the cloak and none into its shields. It had no defense against a laser attack much less a projectile one. The area around Mavs ship began to shimmer and finally the familiar sights of the stars returned. As soon as it did, Mavs comm. system lit up with calls from friendlies.
The Gilded Claw had made its arrival and the four fighter squadrons were just mopping up the remaining enemy ships. Mav headed towards the Claw to get a reload of his missile racks. He had used his last two on the dreadnaught.
“Gilded Claw, this is Nun Two. I need a berth to dock and get a reload. My racks are empty and I need more,” Mav called.
“Negative on the reload, Two. Just board and get ready for debriefing Nun Two,” came the reply from the control tower.
Mav docked his fighter in the bay and headed back to the briefing room. He was met at the door by Commander Arcanix and they exchanged looks, each wondering what was going on.
The door opened and they walked in. Sitting behind the desk was a figure shrouded in darkness. The man standing in front of the desk was the Wing Commander from Wing V, Colonel Gen Es'mith. He turned and looked at the two new arrivals.
“Welcome back. Now can you tell me what you found out there?” he asked.
“Sir, Lieutenant Walker here noticed that fighters just seemed to pop into the area from nowhere. We decided to investigate and discovered a cloaked dreadnaught. On the way out, Lieutenant Walker was caught in a tractor beam and had to fire on the dreadnaught. When it was destroyed, the cloak dropped and we were out,” Commander Arcanix explained.
Mav just stood there at attention hoping to not draw attention to himself. He wanted to go back to his fighter as he was very nervous here. He had just been assigned to Nun and had only been in the service for a very short time. This was not the best situation he had been in, and he would be glad for it to be over.
“Lieutenant Walker, why did you launch rockets at the dreadnaught?” the shadowy figure asked.
“Sir, I was trying to get loose from the tractor beam. I didn’t know that it would destroy the whole ship. I was only trying to break the lock,” Mav answered. The figure seemed to nod his head in approval.
“This matter does not leave this room. It is now deemed classified by order of the Fleet Commander. Any questions?” the shadowy figure said.
Mav wondered who he was to be speaking for the Grand Admiral. His question was answered when he leaned into the light. The blue skin and glowing red eyes could only belong to Grand Admiral Ronin himself.
“Well done Lieutenant Walker. I look forward to seeing more from you,” the Grand Admiral said. He then excused them and began talking to Colonel Gen Es'mith as the door closed.
“Looks like you have impressed the Grand Admiral. Nice going Mav,” Arcanix said as they entered the turbolift.
“Maybe next time I do, I won’t be so nervous,” Mav replied.
“Look at it this way, now you get to paint a Dreadnaught on the side of your fighter.”
“I think I am going to need a lot of paint.” Mav replied as they began to laugh.

The End…..for now…

Great work Lieutenant!
