Iota Report # 1 (2004-08-24)

This report was submitted by CPT Kadon Beir

==========> INCOMING TRANSMISSION --- Commander Kadon Beir reporting in for Iota Squadron

Greetings Wolfpack, A swell goodbye and farewell and good luck to our beloved CMDR Major Kayle Bayron as he shuffles off of the ISD Colossus and Iota Squadron and is currently helping to expand the EH in new directions! Since this is a off-the-hip report I'll do all I can and promise the next one will be more organized.

SQUADRON NEWS:

* The CMDR (Kayle) has moved on over to the ISD Predator.

* Kadon Beir has been chosen as his replacemente and promoted to CM!

* The BGCOM, COM, and WC want us to recruit... so get out there and grab some pilots... new and old... just as long as they are committed and fit my ideals of communication I still want that to be paramount in Iota.

* Rinchu Stealth has transferred back to Nu Squadron.

COMPETITIONS:

A large fleet-wide Competition... the Summer Patrol! Currently sitting on Week 6! See these links if you are still involved!

http://www.ehnet.org/mb/viewtopic.php?t=3039 and http://users.pandora.be/dweezil/patrol/

* Currently no Squadron Competitions
* Wing Competitions: Pilot of the Month and Squadron of the Month. We may be down but lets go out leaving them something to think about for next month!

* Ship Competitions:
* Also Colossus Squadron League-Nitro Edition: (From the Admiral's email you should have already received but if not email me and I'll get you the files/details you need)

Since we had some (I lost count!) new pilots since the last league, I'm going to explain the rules. In this league, each round lasts for 7 days. For each round, one CMDR will choose one free mission which everyone will fly except the members of that CMDR's squadron. Then for the next round, we do the same except with a different CMDR. By the end of the League, all squadrons should have the same number of rounds played, since each one of them stayed out one round.

Most of you know this, so now we go to the changes I made to the scoring system. In the last league, we based score on the squadron's average, and we enforced a minimum participation of 2 pilots per squadron. Well, forget all that. This time, each pilot will score individually, and the points he gets will contribute to the squadron's total points. Here's how the scoring for the league will be:
1st place: 10 points
2nd place: 8 points
3rd place: 6 points
4th place: 5 points
5th place: 4 points
6th place: 3 points
7th place: 2 points
8th place: 1 point

Here's an example. If we got something like this:

Andrelious Inahj (Nu) - 10 points
Mach Blader (Pi) - 8 points
Rinuchu Stealth (Nu) - 6 points
Angel (Eta) - 5 points

The squadrons will get these scores:

Nu Squadron - 16 points
Pi Squadron - 8 points
Eta - 5 points

Simple, right?

This league will have 6 rounds. Now you must wondering "Hey Gunny, but our wing only has 5 squadrons!". We'll have 6 rounds because this time you'll be facing an extra team. You'll be facing your flag staff, me and Curtis, the Bratpack Flight. We'll act like a normal squadron, except that I can't award medals to myself, so no matter what I score in a mission, I can never go above 3rd place at the end of a round. We're here to keep a certain level of quality :P

Finally, the important part, the medals. Last time we only had medals at the end of league, but this league is more focused on the individuals. Therefore, forget that. Medals will be, as usual, IS-SW for best scorer, and IS-BW for runner-up, but at the end of each round, and not at the end of the league. That makes a total of 6 IS-SWs and 6 IS-BWs! :)

For the first round, the Bratpack Flight will stick out, and I'll choose the first mission. The first mission is TIE-Free 134 (attached). All squadrons are ordered to fly it, and deadline is the 29th!
