"The quiet hum of the holoprojector whirled to life, casting an azure glow over the speaking Squadron Commander. 'Greetings pilots. Look lively. Now, onto the briefing...'"

Squadron News

As usual, I hope everyone's had a good week. Even compared to last week's flurry of activity, this one was a knockout. Simply put, every single person in the squadron gave something this week, and five of us flew. This is incredible. I cannot express this enough. We're at 11 citations and counting. Not only that, but we managed submissions for the Sovereign SP Ladder from all five fliers as well. Judging from what we've accomplished so far, I think we can do some serious damage in this competition. >:P To all you who flew, I commend you. Little more than five weeks have passed, and we're back on our feet and better than ever. Even despite my efforts, this is not my work. This, my Betans, is yours.

Of particular note this week is the contribution of now-LT Viktor Trollstein, who gained a promotion for his excellent work, as well as LT Tirna Q'jira, who not only helped our former SL but also LT Hunter. Her unwavering dedication to the cause of Beta is resplendent, passionate, and undeniable. I personally commend her, and her effort will be rewarded. Also, LT Hunter has recently overcome his computer problems and is back into flying form, thanks to Tirna's help. We're glad to have you back. :) Additionally, a Commander's Communique was released, and Beta held its first ever meeting on MSN with 4/6 attendance. I'm going to post the log of it on the website soon so stay tuned. We're truly coming together. So many firsts in so little time.

Perhaps thankfully, there have been no duty roster changes this week. Everyone has put in their all, and our ongoing loss of pilots has finally come to an end. Some left to pursue other interests, and others departed for more serene activities in relative inactivity. One thing remains however, and that is the spirit of Beta Squadron herself. Simply put, we are not only carrying on the proud vision of our squadron history, but also the pride and wisdom of a new standard.

At this time, I can think of no one who embodies that more than Flight Leader J'Lek Arcanos. Not only has he flown a considerable amount this week, actually making submissions for the SP Ladder on every platform (!), he has also provided endless suggestions, moral support, and feedback. Simply put, I consider him my right hand man, and sometimes, even I feel a little ineffectual in the light of his drive. From the very beginning of Beta, he has exhibited the willingness and the courage to drive forward for the good of the squadron as a whole. Even when his time was taken up by considerable activities, in terms of the Dark Brotherhood and more tangibly in terms of his family, he has always been there to offer a hand. Just tonight, he endeavored for a considerable time just to allow me to be able to figure out how to play multiplayer. For all this, and for his friendship, I would like to make him the first official winner of our squadron's highest honor. Lieutenant Commander Arcanos, I officially, and somewhat humbly, bestow upon you the Medallion of the Stoic Yak. May you wear it proudly.

In other, decidely lesser news, Beta Echelon has been heavily updated this week with the presence of a new page devoted to the Order of the Stoic Yak, as well as plans for several new projects, including the ongoing History / Canon section, and the revamping of the Quote section to include several of the more humorous logs of Stoic Yaks I have collected over my tenure. Additionally, logs of our squadron meetings will be posted there, fully formatted and ready to read.

Promotions

SL Viktor Trollstein promoted to LT.
Truly great work. We're glad to have your steel by our side.
Reason given for request: "SL Viktor Trollstein has not only flown two free missions (TIE-Free 232 and 149) this week, but he has also displayed a considerable amount of enthusiasm and eagerness. It is for these reasons that I would like to request that Viktor Trollstein be promoted to Lieutenant from Sub-Lieutenant."

Transfers

None, and that's quite the good thing this week.

Medals

CM Serin Jansj awarded the Palpatine's Crescent (PC).
Reason given for request: "Commander Serin Jansj is a Wing Commander's dream. After taking the reigns of his squad in early February, Serin has led the way in motivation, activity and attitude. At a critical time in our wing’s history, he has been someone for his peers to look up to and emulate. Serin has flown 18 battles and 9 free missions over the last month. He's also participated in both of my competitions in the same period and overseen the recruitment of a new pilot."

Weekly Activity

For this week, I'd like to suggest that we fly missions directed towards the Sovereign SP Ladder. I'd assign different ones, but I think that it's worth it to deviate considering how good we did this week. Unfortunately, the new assignments aren't out yet, so I will notify you of the Weekly Activity on Beta Echelon and via email. Rest assured, as soon as I see them, I'll get them out there.

Otherwise, have a good week. That's not a recommendation. That's an order. :)

[23:03] {FA_Sarin} hmm, i would hate for a paranormal to sneak up behind me with my pants down. of course if he can float through a wall, i am willing to guess he would float through me too
[23:03] * Tirna snickers. "I would think you are insinuiating by thinking I'm insinuating.

Bad Pun of the Week

A tourist in Vienna is going through a graveyard and all of a sudden he hears some music. No one is around, so he starts searching for the source.

He finally locates the origin and finds it is coming from a grave with a headstone that reads: Ludwig van Beethoven, 1770-1827. Then he realises that the music is the Ninth Symphony and it is being played backward! Puzzled, he leaves the graveyard and persuades a friend to return with him.By the time they arrive back at the grave, the music has changed. This time it is the Seventh Symphony, but like the previous piece, it is being played backward.

Curious, the men agree to consult a music scholar. When they return with the expert, the Fifth Symphony is playing, again backward. The expert notices that the symphonies are being played in the reverse order in which they were composed, the 9th, then the 7th, then the 5th.

By the next day the word has spread and a throng has gathered around the grave. They are all listening to the Second Symphony being played backward. Just then the graveyard's caretaker ambles up to the group. Someone in the crowd asks him if he has an explanation for the music.

"Oh, it's nothing to worry about" says the caretaker. "He's just decomposing."

The Last Word

This week has been the product of much work, sacrifice, and stoicism. It is simply, one of the best weeks I have ever seen in the TIECorps, bar none. We should all be proud of our efforts, and strong in our unity. But there is still much to be done. In the past few weeks, we've created a solid foundation that will stand the test of time. Now, however, it is time to expand, to conquer, to show Wing I and the Sovereign exactly what a properly motivated group of stoic yaks can do! Let us ride forth like men and women of iron and fur, gleaming like black death in the shadow of our lonely TIE Defenders. I look to this coming week with anticipation, hope, and dreams of glory.

For this week, however, it's your commander signing out.

"As of now I bet you got me wrong..."

Sincerely,
Serin "Yakman" Jansj
