Lieutenant Colonel Jer Stryker reporting for Hornet Squadron on 03.04.2005, 0315Z

STRYKER'S STORY
   
    Lieutenant Colonel Jer Stryker was hanging out on the bridge of the Imperial barge Hornet's Nest, jamming to some Yin Yang Twins.  The Hornet's Nest was pimped out with oversized chrome spinning turrets, low profile body mods, top of the line SFS Mark VII sensors, and XM Satellite Radio.  It had a custom registration plate that said "Keepin' it Ryl."  Jer was, of course, hauling a load of spice through the Tatoo system.
    Grimlock and Drazhar were doing a pretty decent job of pulling escort duty during Carcharoth and Draiff's inexplicable absence, despite their constant bickering.  They hadn't gotten lost in the maw all day.
    "Okay you guys, we're coming up on the jump buoy to the Corellia system.  Look sharp for patrols, and--"
    "Ooh, a shiny thing!" said Drazhar.  "It's only 120k away.  I'll be right back."
    "No, you idiot," said Grimlock.  "Jer needs us for escort.  Get back here!" he ordered as he turned to catch Drazhar.
    "No Grim!  Stay here and watch for patrols!  Just let Draz go!" ordered Jer, but Grimlock was already out of com range.
    Just then a Tie Phantom and a Tie Advanced emerged from hyperspace.  Jer cringed to think of the millions of credits of spice in his hold that were surely being scanned by now.
    "Attention Barge, this is Imperial Customs.  You are under arrest for smuggling spice, you must com-"
    "Draiff?" said Jer, recognizing the voice from the Phantom.
    "Jer?" replied Draiff, surprised.  "Aren't you aware that trading spice is now illegal?"
    "Of course I am," said Jer, "and because of that, the price has increased tenfold.  I'm making a fortune!  I'll be able to retire in style."
    "Not on this load you won't, sir," said the voice from the Advanced.
    "Carcharoth?" asked Jer.  "Is this where you guys have been lately?"
    "Affirmative, sir," was the answer.
    "Drop your cargo, Jer." said Draiff.
    "Let me pass," came Jer's reply.  "That's an order."
    "I don't really think the chain of command applies when you're smuggling spice for your own personal gain."
    "You fool!" cried Jer.  "What do you think paid for that Phantom?  Optronics smuggling?  Bah!"
    "I'm sorry Jer, but you must drop your cargo."
    Knowing that he had trained his pilots well, Jer knew they were serious.  Reluctantly, he hit the "jettison bling-bling" button, and immediately thereafter, Draiff and Carcharoth opened fire on the floating ryl.
    "Well, at least it explodes pretty," said Jer.  "Now back to the Vanguard you two.  We have Hornet stuff to do."
   

SQUADRON COMMANDER'S BRIEFING

• Well, we're still waiting on Free Worlds tags for Optimus, Grimlock, and Drazhar.  I'm very pleased to see how much you guys have been playing and enjoying the game while you wait.

• Things are pretty quiet around the wing lately (ok, as usual).  With SCVII over, that's to be expected.  Remember that Wolvie is running a Tie/XvT/XWA competition, and I'd like you guys to participate in that as much as you can, in addition to Free Worlds.

• Some Free Worlds things:  If you haven't registered on Burnout's (not the EH) Teamspeak server, you need to go to his forums and PM him or Zacc with your desired username and password.  That way during TEs you can listen in, and be much better informed.

• You can also PM Zacc for a [PvP] tag, which has no ship restrictions, for the purpose of multiplayer duels.

• I was going to run a FW competition for the squad, but currently I'm working with Wolvie for some ideas for wing-wide FW competitions, so I'm focusing more on them for now.

• Now that there are 6 of us that have Free Worlds, and one is in The Netherlands, I'd like to try to meet on Saturdays mid-day to afternoon (EST) to see if we can all get on together.  There doesn't have to be a set time.  Just be around and we'll see what comes up.  Let's start tomorrow (I've already talked to most of you about it).
