TEMPEST SQUADRON
WEEKLY REPORT
12/7/02

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SQUADRON NEWS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tempest has gained a new member. SL Obiwan joined this last week. He is however not a newbie, he was around way back when:
6/14/1999 CMDR/LC Obiwan/Crusader/Wing XIII/ISD Grey Wolf

He is hard at some XWA this weekend to get some FCHG points. Welcome to the squadron!

Tempest is steadily gaining momentum towards to being a fully stocked active squad. We are definitely a mighty little squad, but it would be nice to be a mighty big squad that is very active. With that being said, last month we were not active, not by any measure. We (myself included) flew for a total of 4 FCHG points as a group. That really stinks. So we are going to improve that this month and so far we are headed in the right direction. I realize that RL commintments make it difficult to sit down and knock out too much flying every week, but we all must make an effort to fly once a week, minimum. You will notice that next to your name in the activity section is a number (6). That is how many activity/FCHG points that you earned this week. For now, it is just to remind everyone to fly some. Soon, we will figure out some kind of contest. I think that the quality of our flying is very good, we just need to do it a little more regularly. Also, remember that IWATS, Graphics, etc counts as activity.

Tempest used to have a pretty cool website. I have a website at work that I can host our page. I am mediocore at making websites (www.sparksracing.com). I am about as bad as it gets at making cool graphics. I would welcome ideas, submissions, etc for a website that I would like to get up and running before the year is up.

Squadron Status

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are in the second week of the Wing X competition, FT207 is due to me tommorrow! I have LCM Prost Varsis (very good score!) and mine as of now. That leaves CM Rover missing his submission. Obiwan reported problems with his Tie, but offered some XWA missions to get his promotion.

LT Alexus Hedious has been reported AWOL and is in the process of being removed from Tempest.

ECR phase 3 has begun and it is not TC 100 (sorry Rover) it is now FT 119 and is due Friday Dec. 13.

It seems the database mailer is down again. This means that NO confirmation emails are being sent out for BSFs, Medal Awards, Promotions etc. If you're awaiting an update, then please check the rosters before you bug the TAC, OPS or me. The problem should hopefully be resolved in the next couple of days.

And now for something completely different...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Absolutely the Least Substantial Reason for a Knife Fight: Police in Mansfield Township and Hackettstown, N.J., charged Emmanuel Nieves, 23, with aggravated assault on Nov. 13 after he allegedly slashed the face of his friend Erik Saporito, 21, as the two men fought after arguing over which one had more hair on his buttocks. [Express-Times (Easton, Pa.), 11-15-02]

Bryan Furrow, 17, was charged in Manchester, Conn., in August with masturbating in front of 10 children (and sexually touching five of them), his mother, Lenora Furrow, told reporters that Bryan had simply "made a wrong judgment call." [Denver Post, 10-18-02] [Hartford Courant, 8-23-02]

In October, all 21 volunteer firefighters of Elgin, Iowa, submitted letters of resignation after they were told they could no longer keep beer at the firehouse. (Later in the month, they backed off in exchange for the City Council's agreeing to open an investigation of Councilwoman Jean Roach, who is the person who allegedly first ratted them out to the city's insurance carrier.)
