CMDR's Rantings
This is it.The final days of the SC:V. We have come to the end of it and I am hoping that we will have a huge upswing of activity. My one hope was that we didn't finish last and I guess that honor goes to a sister squadron. Overall, I think that the CMDR should score the least amount of points in the comp not the most. When the end comes for us it will be a bad day. All the citations that we have gained will be lost. The COM was very serious about awoling any pilots with zero points. It looks like that we are going to lose 2 pilots when this is over. I can understand why they haven't done anything, sort of but there is nothing I can do about it now.
Anyways this brings me to my next point, recruiting. RECRUIT RECRUIT RECRUIT.... get the picture. I am working on trying to get recruits and you should be too. Either from the Daedalus or from the reserves, maybe from other subgroups, all are welcome here.

Wow over two months as CMDR time has just flown by.

TC Homepage Standards - Update

It seems some people need clarification on this: Squadron, Wing/Ship and Battlegroup websites are mandatory. If you are a CMDR+, then it's your responsibility to make sure these pages are in place and meet the requirements. This doesn't mean you have to make the pages yourself - there are plenty of people in the EH that can do this for you. Whether you make the pages or not, they remain your responsibility.

These requirements have not be brought in to make your life more difficult. They are there so that TIE Corps sites meet a high level of standard. A Cadet is more likely to consider joining your Squadron if the page has all the correct information and is regularly updated.

New TC Homepage Standards

FA Priyum and I have devised new standards for all TIE Corps homepages in an attempt to raise the quality of TC sites. All sites are expected to comply with the standards within 2 weeks (by February 9). Officers whose sites do not comply within the allotted time face removal from their current position.

Internet Issues

There is currently a worm doing the rounds at the moment, which is impacting the performance of the internet around the world. The worm is designed to target known flaws in SQL Server, a database application produced by Microsoft. However, the worm scans so aggressively that it can actually affect the performance of your own internet experience. Those of you on broadband will probably be very likely targets and should look at blocking port 1434 on the UDP protocol if you have firewall functionality that supports specific settings. Otherwise, a general firewall such as McAfee Firewall or ZoneAlarm should do the trick. Those who do actually run SQL Server or MSDE (a desktop version of the server) should check they are patched as this is an exploit that has been known since July 2002.
