Psi Report # 0 (2000-07-08)

This report was submitted by LC Ford Prefect

Welcome, ladies, gentlemen, gender-neutrals and hermaphrodites, to the Psi Squadron Briefing, 7.8.00 Edition!
This will be Ford's first briefing since returning from leave, so please bear with him if he sounds a bit fuzzy.

-Squadron News-

- We've lost another pilot...Psi bids farewell as Commander Rage heads back to the M/FRG Phoenix and the Reserves, due to lack of time. Good luck in RL and your other pursuits, Rage! Hope to see you back in action sometime...

- Lieutenant Kerch Stormchase has changed his name and his e-mail address! Say hello this time to LT Quentan Rastar (quenr@hotmail.com)! Hope this name change doesn't affect your weekly BSF load, Ke-, er, Quentan :P

- And now...the moment you've been waiting for, basing your schedule around, holding breath to hear...the Psi June Ace! Despite a competitive two-way competition for the award this month, the Ace of June has been determined! And that shiny Palpatine Crescent goes to....Lieutenant Quentan Rastar! LT Rastar showed *excellent* activity all throughout June, in addition to completing as many Ace reqs as he possibly could after he joined. Congratulations to LT Rastar!

- Guess the Top Gun. C'mon, guess! :P For the second straight month, the Ace and the Top Gun have been awarded to the same person! Congrats again to LT Quentan Rastar, who flew 24 battles, 5 Free-TIEs and a Combined Arms Battle within his first month of being assigned to the Corps! Well done, Lieutenant!

- The Bronze Star of the Empire has been awarded your lovable CMDR and LCM Jon Doyle for work on the Special Operations: Blacksun run-on..

- LT Quentan Rastar has submitted an excellent One Flight website! Check it out...http://www.psioneflight.cjb.net. Still a bit sparse, but it has the makings of a great page! Keep us updated, Quent!

- In addition to his webpage, Quentan has submitted a Psi banner and a TIE Corps banner...you'll find them attached.

- LCM Sidian still hasn't reported in...Sidian? You out there? If Sidian has contacted any of you lately, please let Ford know...

- Psi Squadron webpage? Oh, yeah. :P Ford's decided that he's just going to upload what he's got now to the squadron.org site, and then start updating. Got some of it updated already, but that was before shore leave... :(

- In light of the fact that Sigma's full, CPT Todbringer has kindly told a few Sigma aspirants about us folks here in Psi ;P

- In case you missed the past few announcements, Combat Run 11 is active! The battle to fly is TC-155, The Supplies War. Entries are due to Ford by July 14th! (Note: Read on to check out some hints for the battle..)

- The July Ace! New requirements..

1) Combat Run 11 (TC-155, Supplies War)

2) The Psi-Alpha-Inferno competition...battle to fly forthcoming!

3) Psi Squadron Trivia, Round 12!

4) TBA

- A squadron banner competition? The old Psi banner's been around for quite a while...thoughts?

- Yours truly has provided a few hints for the new CR...here's what we got so far:
Ford's just flown the first two missions of the new Combat Run, and they're a piece of cake. (mmm...tasty cake...need cake :P)
If you're going for a big score, especially on the first mission, you can probably send your wingmen home as soon as you hyper in. Ford would advise that you use heavy rockets for the first mission, as you can kill the main station quickly, and then turn your attention to the starfighters...and to the real points ;P
Dogfight as long as you like, and, as you'll have surplus heavy rockets, take down some of those Rebel capital ships remaining. After destroying the station, you can pretty much have fun the rest of the time during the first mission >:P

The second one's fairly easy as well. If you send away your wingmen right off the bat, it'll get harder, as the only defense launched (4 A-wings that come in waves) will come straight after you. Anyhow, ignore the freighters (which you're supposed to and concentrate on the A-wings if you send the wingmen away. Take them out systematically, and feel free to use your missiles. The Corvette that's there probably won't do much to you, except try to ram you. Kill off the A-wing waves, and, once they're gone, kill off the Freighters. If you have time, disabled the Corvette sometime in between so you can finish it off later. Once you've finished off the A-wings, leisurely kill off the Freighters and the Corvette and you're through.

Hope these are of some help...

Just finished missions three and four. They're easy :P
Very little hints are required. Just kill as many Rebels as you can...you can recall your wingmen if you want, bu t it won't do much of a difference. In Ford's opinion, it's best to let them attack a cap ship, take down most of it shields, and then you can tell them to ignore the target, and you can finish it off (after disabling it with ions, of course). Rarely do your wingmen get a kill in these missions, so it may be more prudent to let them be targets and take down enemies shields, and then you can tell them to ignore the target and finish him off yourself.

Mission 5, so far, promises to be...very different :P
You, with three other T/Ds, with 8 advanced missiles, plus a MIS, have to disable four Rebel cap ships . It doesn't look too good so far :P

- Due to internet access difficulties and CD-ROM problems, LCM Jon Doyle is on leave until he can get the aformentioned problems fixed.

- With the departure of CM Rage and the possibility of Sidian missing in action, Psi may be down to 5 pilots! RRRREEEECCCCRRRRUUUUIIITTt! Ford is on a few leads, but we'll need all the help we can get!

- Ford believes he has mentioned this previously, but LCM Nemesis' new e-mail is miertt@sonnet.de

- COL Shawshank of Alpha has kindly translated Ford's new motto into Latin:
Dei Fordi rident ut ille reges reginasque fortiter rodit
(The gods smile upon Ford as he recklessly gnaws on kings and queens).

-Wing News-

- LC Harkonnen is on emergency leave due to a fritzed out ISP and e-mail account. Rho CMDR, CM Inkwolf, is acting Wing Commander until Harks can get back...please include Inky on all e-mails you'd normally send to the WC!

-Squadron Orders-

- FLY THE COMBAT RUN!!! If we expect to do well finishing up the Squadron League 'regular season', we're going to need 100% participation! If you cannot fly the battle, please inform Ford! It's not that difficult...(aside from mission 5 so far :P)

- Get pumped for the Psi-Alpha-Inferno comp!

- Recruiiiiiiiiiiiit!

- Be active and have fun!
