The new Commander looks around his sparsely furnished office wishing he'd had more time to move things in. It looked tidy but clinical with no 'homely' touches at all. He knew what he needed to do, but his mind was on other, more pressing, things. In front of him stood 5 Pilots out of the compliment of 10, he felt both happy and sad at the same time, wracking his brains to think of what he might do to reverse the trend of complacency that had proliferated the members of this, his first, squadron command.

"Gentlemen, as you may or may not know, I have been given this command on a provisional basis as I do not hold the IWATS SM/3 certification and, as it stands, Dean Astin has alluded to this and WM being the last courses to be brought back 'online' due to rewriting. As such, my tenure here may well be short-lived if I am unable to secure results. I need this to work & I need all of you to help me to make this work...".

That's just 50% of our supposedly active manpower. I expected, and hoped for, more.

Anyway, I am pleased to announced that tomorrow (March 1st) marks the beginning of our 1st Squadron Competition together and it will be used as a 'second-chance' for all of you. You should have received a mail-out from me explaining all the rules & the fact that it will run for the whole of the month - please get involved and send me something!
I am hoping that "Fury needs Mottoes & Nicks" will be the 'jump-off point' necessary to bring us all together. As the voting (which will be held early April) will be 'per-Flight' it may well be that you will not get a Motto or Nickname because there are NO pilots voting - Flight II this is aimed at you! COL TK-7764, as FL, I need you to find out what's going on over there.

Here ends my 1st Fury Squadron Weekly report. I am pleased at the level of work from some of you, but I'm sure it would be possible to do more. For the rest of you, as I am yet to hear anything at all, there is little that I can say. I can only hope that my competition starts some stirrings in you & helps us through this difficult period - join in, please!

Several other Squads are beginning to record good activity and many individuals are flying again as can be attested to by the Pilot Kill Board. Fury has many talented individuals in it's ranks - let's make it a great Squadron once more!

As mentioned in my midweek email, I am due to take a LoA until March 4th - I will endeavor to catch-up with you all then...
