Greetings Reservists of the TIE Corps!

This is Vice Admiral Locke Setzer, captain of this retirement cruise ship we call the M/FRG Phoenix, here with another quarterly news blast to let you know some of the latest news with the TIE Corps that might be of interest to you. I'll also have the usual helpful information about re-enlistment, medal restoration, and other topics that may be useful if you ever decide to unretire and join back up for a spell. So, without further ado...

Current Events

Imperial Storm begins!

Impstorm-wide-newlogo.png

Imperial Storm VI kicked off this weekend! Like last year, all three battlegroups are working together to fight against a common foe. Our current storyline sees the Emperor's Hammer traveling within Chaos, an area of the Unknown Regions rife with hyperspace anomalies, blackholes and unknown races. One of these races, the Kilji Illumine, will serve as our opponent as we attempt to defend a sector of space against this invading foe.

Practically speaking, this will be a wargame where each battlegroup moves its fleet around the board in an attempt to outmaneuver, outgun, or outrun the opposition. Battle performance will ultimately be determined by the pilots within a battlegroup that is engaged by the enemy, with winning PvP matches, PvE matches, and SP submissions for a specific free mission being used to calculate performance.

If you'd like to follow along, we have a new page on the website for tracking fleet movement and events during this operation, which can be found at https://www.emperorshammer.org/imperialstorm.php. And if you'd like to know a bit more about the story and plot for this year's Imperial Storm, you can read about it here: https://wiki.emperorshammer.org/EH_Plotline#The_Battle_of_Tkon_Rift

Fleet Competition Schedule for 2024

Speaking of fleet competitions, the schedule has been set for the other two major fleet-wide competitions this year: ReMob and Raise the Flag.

Current schedule is as follows:

  • Squadron ReMobilization - May 2024
  • Raise the Flag - September 2024
I'll keep you updated about these events as we get closer to them!

First Issue of the EH Academic Journal Released

The Training Office has released the first issue of the EH Academic Journal, "Proceedings" Issue #1! This journal is a collection of approved creations made by members for one of the Imperial University graduate courses currently offered.

If you're interested to take a look, the latest issue can be found here. All issues moving forward can be found on the EH Wiki, over at https://wiki.emperorshammer.org/TO:Proceedings

Dark Voice #1 Released

Not exactly TIE Corps news, but the Dark Brotherhood has been undergoing some interesting changes, slowly transforming into a new organization called the Secret Order. If you're curious to see what that's about, I recommend checking out their newsletter, which came out last month - a re-launch of the Dark Voice!

Dark Voice #1 can be found here.

Sales! Sales! Sales!

Star Wars Squadrons is currently on sale for $2.00 in the US on the Steam store! For a game with a pretty solid SP campaign, not to mention one that's still used for MP by EH members today, that's a pretty solid deal!

Details can be found here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1222730/STAR_WARS_Squadrons/

Frequently Asked Questions

I feel like I've seen a few of the same questions from folks who have been interested in returning to active service or just curious about how the TIE Corps is working these days in general. I know I had a number of them myself when I rejoined! Here's a collection of frequently asked questions and answers, tailored for folks presently chilling in the Reserves!

Question: Hey! I want to rejoin but I don't know how! What do I do?

Answer: Good question! It's pretty easy - you just have to contact the TCCOM, HA Plif! You can send him an email (tccom@emperorshammer.org) or you can message him on Discord (plif346) - whatever's easier for you! And if you're having any problems, you can always email me too - I'll help get things worked out for you.

Question: My profile on the TIE Corps website isn't right. I used to have medals! I used to have history! Now it's all gone and I'm sad.

Answer: Don't be sad! A lot of us old-timers have gone through this. Fortunately, there is a way to restore things! We don't have it at a place where we can do it automatically for everyone, but if you reach out to the TCCOM (via email at tccom@emperorshammer.org or Discord at plif346) and request a restoration, he can get that process started for you. We do ask for patience - it can take a bit of time. But have heart - your accomplishments are not lost to time! Please reach out to me too if you have any additional questions on this process.

Question: Are you going to make me rejoin to restore my records and stuff?

Answer: We want to be able to do this for everyone who wants it. Admittedly, we are going to prioritize active members who need it over reservists. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't ask! We'd love to have you back, but making sure your past accomplishments are recorded and available is part of our duty to you, regardless of current activity status. You've earned it.

Question: Can I join the Discord server even if I'm in the Reserves?

Answer: Of course! You won't have access to all the channels, but you will be able to see and participate in most of the general chat channels, including the common hang-out spot, #plifs-asteroid-bar-and-grill. If you haven't joined the Discord server yet, the link to join is here.

Question: I don't really want to be active, but I do like doing the trivia and/or puzzle competitions, taking an Imperial University course, flying a mission, or doing some multiplayer once in a blue moon. Do I have to be in a squadron to do that stuff?

Answer: No! You're welcome to log in and submit your own BSFs for missions flown, take Imperial University/IWATS courses, do the trivia/puzzle competitions, report multiplayer matches... whatever you'd like to do. But... being in a squadron means that you can get awarded for that activity with merit medals. And there's a lot of squadron commanders out there who would be happy to have a pilot who just wants to contribute the odd bit of activity here and there. So don't feel like you have to be super active to be considered active - it's really okay to be an active member even when you can only do a little, as long as you're having fun and keeping in touch.

Question: What are the supported platforms again?

Answer: See the list below!

  • TIE Fighter
  • X-Wing
  • X-Wing vs TIE Fighter
  • X-Wing Alliance
  • X-Wing Alliance Upgrade (MP only)
  • TIE Fighter Total Conversion (MP and the SP Reimagined battles)
  • Star Conflict
  • Star Wars Battlefront (2015)
  • Star Wars Battlefront II (2017)
  • Star Wars: Squadrons
  • Star Wars: Empire at War
  • Star Wars: The Old Republic
  • Elite Dangerous
There are still regular conversations about adding new platforms as well... I'll let you know when we start supporting something new!

Question: I never want to hear from you again! Can you stop emailing me?!?

Answer: Never's a long time, and I promise that we'll only send these out once every few months or so. But if you'd really prefer not to be in the Reserves, please reach out to me and I'll help get you reassigned to Inactive, which will deactivate your account and prevent any further communications.

That concludes our little quarterly Reservist update email! If you have any questions about re-joining the TIE Corps, events going on, or just want to talk and shoot the breeze about old times, please feel free to reach out! My email is locke.f.setzer@gmail.com and my Discord name is LockeSetzer. Please use whichever is most convenient for you. My door is always open!
