VA Locke Setzer

Greetings, pilots of Battlegroup III! If you haven't been following the news or the Discord, please allow me to introduce myself again - my name is Vice Admiral Locke Setzer, and I am pleased to be your new BGCOM!

In this first introductory report, I'd like to announce a competition for the battlegroup, discuss some of the current competitions running in the TIE Corps, and ask each and every one of you for a small favor. Let's begin!

BATTLEGROUP NEWS

All Hands: Annual Battlegroup III Survey Request

I hate to ask for something right off the bat, but in an effort to get to know all of you better, and to help me do my job, I have a request! I've put together a small survey with a few questions about what you're looking for in the TIE Corps. I promise it won't take more than a few minutes, but it'll go a long way towards helping me better understand what folks are interested in, and how best to advocate on your behalf.

Please note that you're more than welcome to fill it out anonymously if you want! If that helps you to be more honest, then I greatly encourage it. That being said, including your name will allow me to count your response as activity for MSE purposes (and may come with an extra reward as well).

Survey is located here.

Survey will remain open until the end of the month (January 31, 2024). Thank you all for your assistance! Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

New Competition Alert: Find a WC for Wing XXII!

For the next month, I'd like to hold a fun, small competition built all around designing a new NPC Wing Commander for Wing XXII onboard the Renegade. I appreciate the service of our robo-WC Denys Elara, but she's been doing double-duty for months, and I think she's reached the end of her rope...

As such, we will proceed with a competition to "Find a WC for Wing XXII!". This will involve creating another NPC, similar to Denys Elara. Submissions should include a rank, name, and a completed INPR. You may also include any additional background information you would like about the character; just try not to go overboard. Detail and brevity are appreciated in equal measure.

Entries may be submitted via Discord or e-mail to VA Locke Setzer, or via a Google Form located here.

Along with having your creation come to life (so to speak), the pilot with the winning entry will be awarded an IS-GR. Additionally, an IS-SR, IS-BR and IS-CR will be awarded for the second third, and fourth place entries, respectively.

Additional details can be found here. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out and ask me directly via email or Discord.

TIE CORPS NEWS AND COMPETITIONS

Upcoming Competition: Imperial Storm VI

Just a heads-up that this year's Imperial Storm will be occuring a bit earlier than last year, and is currently scheduled to start on February 17th, running through March 16th.

I'm looking forward to this fleet competition, particularly because much of the feedback provided for last year's comp seems to have been incorporated in this year's rules. Keep your ears open - there will be more to say on this one soon!

Current schedule for large-scale fleet competitions this year is as follows:

  • Imperial Storm 6 - February 17th - March 16th
  • Squadron ReMobilization - Month of May
  • Raise the Flag 2024 - Month of September

Competition Reminder: TIE Corps in Battle Season 7

Friendly reminder that Season 7 of TCiB is upon us! This season has seen the addition of TFTC as a platform, in addition to the standard TIE, XvT, and XWA. Round 3 has just begun, and will run until 23:59 February 15th UTC -12! Battles for this round include...

Credit to Typhoon, who currently sits at third place on the leaderboard after Round 1, with Tempest on the board as well!

More competition details can be found here!

Competition Reminder: Destiny 2: The Prologue

There has been an ongoing thread on the Discord (under the #game-suggestions channel) regarding potential new platforms the TIE Corps may start to support. From this discussion, it has been decided to evaluate Destiny 2 as a potential platform.

As such, a competition is currently running to help evaluate the platform and gauge interest in its use. If you're a fan of Destiny 2 or have been interested in giving it a try, now's the time!

PvP and PvE matches are being accepted, with screenshots of completed match results being sent on Discord to LC Gytheran (Gytheran on Discord). In order to help obtain as much data as possible, losing PvP matches are being included, and will count for points in this competition!

This competition ends on January 31st, so there's still time to get in if you haven't already! More competition details can be found here!

Competition Reminder: SWTOR Conquest 2: The search for more Conquest, Season 3

Folks who have been here for awhile and are active SWTOR players are likely already plugged into the different SWTOR events going on, but I'd like to drop a reminder here, especially for anyone relatively new who might not be aware of these events.

For this particular competition, pilots within the official organizational guilds on the Star Forge server ("Emperor's Hammer" for the Sith Empire and "Infiltrator Wing" for the Republic) will compete against each other for placement awards while they aide the organization to meet its in-game goals. Weekly placement awards are determined by the sum of all conquest points earned by a pilot's legacy.

If you're a SWTOR player, I recommend reviewing the competition details can be found here! Please reach out if you have any questions!

Competition Reminder: Ace of the TIE Corps

Wanted to drop a friendly reminder that the Ace of the TIE Corps ongoing competition, which rewards the top performing pilots in the categories of SP, PvE, and PvP, is on-going, and no longer as a yearly competition! The comp continues to award pilots on a monthly rate, but season prizes are now awarded three times a year instead of once a year.

The first season started on January 1st, and will continue through April 30, 2024. Details can be found at the following links for each title...

That concludes my inaugural report for Battlegroup III! If you have any questions about things going on in Battlegroup III, the TIE Corps, or anything else, please feel free to reach out! My email is locke.f.setzer@gmail.com and my Discord name is LockeSetzer. Please use whichever is most convenient for you. My door is always open!

In Service,
