Projects and Activities

The last couple of months have been a little on the quiet side in the Combat Operations Office - school's picking up for a lot of our members (both students and a lot of teachers), and the holidays are here. One moment of excitement came when the COO caused a minor electrical fire when he tried to plug some Christmas lights into a socket meant for a turbolaser battery, but that's all been resolved. (Mostly.)

LC Vapen Vanman, a longstanding member of the COOA team, has decided to step down. He has personally processed 19,855 Legions since he joined the team in August 2022! Joining the team will be GN Elwood the Brave. And as always, if you're interested, take a look at the Combat Operations Exam and send AD Silwar Naiilo a message. The initiation ritual isn't too brutal.

The COOAs have been reviewed and will be earning merit medals for their end of year activity, which includes the tremendous support they've given during Raise the Flag 2023. The full recommendation text will be released in a separate announcement, but I'm pleased to announce:

  • On his way out the door, LC Vapen Vanman will leave holding a box of commemorative Star Conflict screenshots and a Gold Star.
  • COL Miles Prower will find something Gold and Shiny in the bottom of his coffee mug.
  • MAJ Colo Delste will earn a major award as well - a hot Gold Star to go with his cold snacks.
  • Our newest (up until Woody, that is) COOA CM Therj'en'nuruodo will earn a Silver Star for his contributions during Raise the Flag.
  • COL Highlander picks up a Palpatine Crescent for his assistance.

We're still looking into point values for games, but no updates yet. There will be a lot of pieces to put together before we get there.

XvT and XWA have historically required 10 minute matches. (I believe this was from an era when people would play two five-minute halves, switching hosts between, which is generally how those go, except our website doesn't currently support uploading four different screenshots.)

After discussing with the Admiralty, This has been changed to require 5 minute matches. That's right, you can now submit much shorter matches for both PvP and PvE type games. The COOMAN has been updated to reflect this policy, and you'll see some point value changes in fleet competitions such as Raise the Flag once those get going next year.

Competition and Combat Event News

Destiny 2 has been accepted as a secondary platform. We're not providing Legions yet, but please consider taking part in Destiny 2: The Prologue, run by LC Gytheran, to help us gather data for potential inclusion as a primary platform. Any secondary game may be played to earn Iron Stars with Ribbons during competitions, but primary games allow for Iron Stars with Wings as well as Legions of Skirmish or Combat at any time.

We ran Empire at War: Strategy Simulations, won by LCM Gian Webb and CPT Jayden Halcorr. Congratulations on your first place victory!
