SO Report # 31 (2003-03-21)

This report was submitted by FA Brad

First of all, I wish to express my concerns, prayers and thoughts to those who are engaged in Operation Iraqi Freedom and their families. Some cases were concluded this week and others began that were pending from last week. Check out the High Court of Inquisitors webpage to see what happened with those members http://www.minos.net/~moreco/hci/news.php. Of those two cases that were pending that are now opened is one for RA Mairin Astoris and MAJ Curtis. Each face the same charges with the same evidence for allowing Mirei to rejoin and remain in the TC illegally after she was banned and not for informing me and the HI. If you are aware of an expelled member who is now in the EH, you must tell the High Inquisitor and me immediately. Failure to do so may result in a HCI trial. FA Starrett, who was guilty as charged for False Statements for requesting medal corrections that were not sincere, has resigned from the EH. It may take some time, but you will face punishment for regulation violations that occurs months or maybe years before. Obviously it is easier to conduct an investigation and trial not long after a regulation violation, but the HCI and me will remain to ensure that those who disobey regulations or orders are punished. It is my hope to minimize the number of violations in the EH and to make the club a fun and enjoyable place to spend our free time. With all of the problems going on in the real world, it is nice to escape to this Star Wars club to have fun. While the task of investigating incidents and determining who goes to trial or not, isn't that fun, it is something that needs to be done. The number of complaints received this week is low. I please ask all who send complaints for patience. If it has been a week or longer, feel free to ask me about your complaint. I am working on a system that can make my job easier so these complaints can be processed faster and in a consistent manner. One thing I want to mention is that I do not like to see rumors and news spreading faster than what is actually happening. Sometimes I get e-mails about people asking what someone's punishment is (or will be) for being sent to the HCI, when I have not finished investigating a complaint. I have been in the EH for many years and am aware of how quickly information can travel on IRC and through other means. Those who get e-mails from me or check out my reports will get my official word on what is happening. Hearsay is not something to be relied upon. Do not make hasty decisions based upon rumors. As always, I am available both by e-mail AND on IRC. If I do not have time to talk to you on IRC, I will say so and if you have a complaint to send I ask that you e-mail it. I will be able to answer questions while on IRC as long as I'm not too busy there. It never really happens, but I ask that all channel operators deop themselves when they are away. At least indicate you are away by your nickname or setting your /away message.
