Internet Office News
This week has seen the unfortunate resignation of
Fleet Admiral AbsoluteK from the position of Internet Officer. I, Admiral Ari,
his former CA, have been appointed as his successor while he remains on the
staff as an IOA. This means that the position of Command Attaché is now open,
and I am taking applications for it. Applicants should have experience at least
with either PHP or ASP, every other additional language helps.
As for my plans for the Internet Office, I will
quote directly from my application for the position..
" What do I see the Internet Office
becoming? My vision is to continue AbsoluteK's path, in striving to assist EH
members. The Ask the IO feature on the IO site was in fact my suggestion, and it
allows for the Internet Office to have a personal kind of feel with the members,
answering any questions members may have about the Internet or their websites. I
also see the Internet Office becoming more and more of a central hub, with a
very broad range. I will make sure that the IO Staff will be capable of
answering questions in technologies and languages that I am not so well-versed
in. I plan to expand on the "Ask the IO" feature and add a sort of Technical
Support feature for coding problems. Also, down the road, when I can afford it,
I will see about procuring adequate hosting in order to host EH
webpages."
I plan to finish most of the projects AbK could
not. The first thing I do will be to finish writing the updated version of the
PHP course when AbK hands me the material he's got. I encourage all members of
the EH to make use of the features on the IO site and to keep their eyes open
for additional new ones.
Auroran Gambling Authority news: (The AGA is the
IO-sponsored corp of the CD) Report #4 is posted on the AGA message board, which
is accessible by everyone with an EHDB login...or, if you'd like a copy, I can
forward you one.
Also, ehnet.org will be moving to a different host
within the week, so don't be surprised about downtime.
