SO Report # 17 (2002-12-13)

This report was submitted by FA Brad

Once again nobody was sent to the HCI this week. I wouldn't consider this to be total success as I have received a number of complaints and some requests by HI Royal and TRIB Moreco to check over old logs to see if more members have violated Articles of War/Bylaws/Codes of Conduct. A reminder to those posting complaints: The most important thing is to send the complaint through the chain of command first! It is the quickest way to get a resolution and your superior officers can handle most things. I am supposed to review the cases that weren't solved by the chain of command, or the cases that involve command staff members. (i.e. SubGroup Commanders, Advisors, Command Squadron). Something else that should be done when giving a complaint is to tell me the exact date of the violation. Giving a portion of an IRC log without the date is not acceptable. If you have e-mail evidence the complaint should be included. Message Boards shouldn't be a problem either as most posts include the date. Also get a /whois on the person violating EH regulations if it is on IRC. Check the Articles of War and Bylaws often as they can be changed without prior notice. The Articles of War determine to a great extent how complaints are handled and how the High Court of Inquisitors function. On a side note, I had my birthday yesterday (the 12th). Nobody goes to the High Court of Inquisitors for not wishing me a happy birthday this time. :-) To those reporting complaints and to the HCI, you must realize that it is the busiest time of the year for me now and complaints will be processed as soon as possible. You must be patient while this happens. E-mail me if you want to check on the status of a complaint. I would like it if only those who sent the complaint (or the one being complained against) ask about how it is going. The rest of you, it doesn't involve nearly as much as the accuser or accused. (I may allow an exception to superior officers of both--but mostly the accused). In time, I may think of a way that complaint can be processed in a more efficient manner. I'm sure there is a way to make it consistent and easy. I will welcome suggestions from all. Of course, those who have been involved with the SO/HCI or my staff would have a good point of view how to handle it. Also, there is a chance that VA Zoltar could be working on your complaint. E-mail me asking about the status of a complaint and if necessary, I will refer you to my Command Attaché, VA Zoltar (gnzoltar@aol.com).
