Security Office News

First I suggest everyone starts following a little thing called the chain of command. I have noticed that this has been ignored lately and that problems seem to be immediatly brought to my attention when they usually can be handled internally. If you have another problem with a pilot in your Wing, tell your Wing Commander, Commodore, or even Battlegroup Commander about it first. If it's a major problem, then they should bring it to my attention. This is so everyone knows what's going on and when/if I have to take action, people aren't sitting in the dark.

Scenario: You are walking down the street one night and you walk by a police officer laying the smack down on some random hippie. What do you do? Do you A) Question the police officer on what he's doing or B) Walk on and mind your own business.

Smart people would usually pick option B. This relates to when channel ops kick/ban people from channels. When they do so, you don't need to question why they did it. I assure you every ban I give has a damn good reason which means I don't really need to be explaining my actions to the general public. I'm not trying to sound like the gestapo here, but honestly it's quite annoying to any channel op. If people continue to do it I may have to start getting nasty.

Recently I've noticed that people have started using me as a sword, so to say. "Be quiet or I'll contact the SO," etc. etc. I suggest you not do this. If there is a problem you alert your superior (or me if it's really serious), you do not threaten people with me. I am not a weapon, I just enforce the rules of the club. If I catch anyone doing this, there will be consequences.

-Internet security matters.
The latest virus threats can be found online here (opens a new window). It also provides documents on new computer threats, fixes, and other useful information. Should have the alert box ready to go next week.

-Faster timeframe for issues to be resolved, brought to the HCI, etc.
Gathering evidence for a potential case.

-Revise Articles of War and Bylaws in consultation with relevant parties.
