Fee fi fo fum,

TC News Stuff
The ASF BGCOM has been promoted to AD for his work on… stuff. The TAC, SO, COMM and IWCOM were all promoted to AD as well on Saturday.

In other news, GA Astatine has extended his competition until February 7th, so go and participate in that… details at: http://www.ehtiecorps.org/xo/comps/offtherecord.htm

Fun Stuff
A new Star Wars mod for Freelancer has been released. For those of you playing FW, or who tried FW but hated it, I suggest you look into the alpha release of Tides of War (ToW). All sorts of info can be found at: http://swcivilwar.bebbet.nl/index.php including a link to the download site.

I’ve been playing a bit too much lately, as it’s quite addictive.

Make the TCBGs a New Banner!!!
Our current banner is sooooo passé. My BG Banner Comp has been approved! It ends on January 29th. The winner will be awarded a shiny IS-GR, with an IS-SR to second! There’re no specific requirements for the banner except that it has to look good and have something to do with the TCBGs.

Update: The comp was extended until Saturday, but still no new entries… so I’m leaving it open through tonight. Anything that finds its way to my inbox by the time I get online tomorrow (around 4:00pm PST) is good.

Casino Imperiale!
The basics are simple, you fly, you write an after-flight report, and you write a fiction. Here’s the thing, though. This will be scored by wing averages, much like ECR VI was. This means that everyone who doesn’t participate will be dragging their wing down, down, down. Luckily, there is a way around this for people who either don’t want to fly, or don’t want to write! As long as you do one or the other, you won’t be hurting the wing. Meaning that if you only write a fiction, you won’t be hurting the wing average, but if you don’t do anything, then shame on you. To conclude this, there is absolutely no reason to not participate, besides being a hippie. Don’t be a hippie.

The Mysterious BG-wide Comp “Operation: Chickadee Bits”, Formerly Known as “Operation: Luxury Yacht (Pronounced ‘Throatwobbler Mangrove’)”
I can’t tell you anything about this now, because I don’t want to ruin the surprise. I will say, however, that we have made significant progress (really, it’s true!) on this since I initiated the project in my first week as BGCOM, and, barring death, disembowelment, hail, or nuclear fallout, the comp will be ready come Springtime!

Murphys Law of Combat Operations:
61. If the Platoon Sergeant can see you, so can the enemy.
62. Never stand when you can sit, never sit when you can lie down, never stay awake when you can sleep.
63. The most dangerous thing in the world is a Second Lieutenant with a map and a compass.
64. Exceptions prove the rule, and destroy the battle plan.
65. Everything always works in your HQ, everything always fails in the Colonel's HQ.
66. The enemy never watches until you make a mistake.
67. One enemy soldier is never enough, but two is entirely too many.
68. A clean (and dry) set of BDU's is a magnet for mud and rain.
69. The worse the weather, the more you are required to be out in it.
70. Whenever you have plenty of ammo, you never miss. Whenever you are low on ammo, you can't hit the broad side of a barn.
71. The more a weapon costs, the farther you will have to send it away to be repaired.
72. The complexity of a weapon is inversely proportional to the IQ of the weapon's operator.
73. Field experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
74. No matter which way you have to march, its always uphill.
75. If enough data is collected, a board of inquiry can prove anything.
76. For every action, there is an equal and opposite criticism. (in boot camp)
77. Air strikes always overshoot the target, artillery always falls short.
78. When reviewing the radio frequencies that you just wrote down, the most important ones are always illegible.
79. Those who hesitate under fire usually do not end up KIA or WIA.
80. The tough part about being an officer is that the troops don't know what they want, but they know for certain what they don't want.

And they lived happily ever after,

“My inferiority complex isn’t as good as yours”
