TK left Kane’s office unnerved.  He was not sure if it was the drink or the assignment.  Either way, he had a job to do now.  TK had noticed that something was wrong ever since he entered the Lantare system.  There was a certain cloud of darkness about this place.  It stuck to the air.  He breathed it in like a fog.  He could touch it and almost taste it.  Yet just as he grew close, it ran away.  He could never find it for certain.  There was definitely something wrong here. 

The rest of the ship’s crew had noticed this too.  Even stormtroopers were nervous.  There was a collective fidgeting, nervous twitch that was developing on this ship.  Time tables were falling behind schedule.  There had been scattered bits of action, yet still no one was sure who the real enemy was.  It made people afraid.  Luckily, TK-7764 had seen many things far worse in his lifetime.  Far worse, he thought with a shutter as he entered the turbolift.

The Grand Master had been rather sparing on the details about this mission.  TK supposed that is why Kane had given TK this particular assignment.  Kane wanted information.  TK knew Nocturnus very well, and knew he cared about the people in his service.  Whatever he was keeping secret, he had a good reason to do so.  That is why TK did not want to contact the members of the rDB.  Obviously, official communication with anyone connected to the rDB is a capital offense.  Thus, Kane gave TK these orders officially under the table.  Kane seemed certain that they would have some idea what was going on.  Even so, TK did not trust them completely.  He fought against many members of the rogues.  He had not been happy at all when they rebelled.  It had all seemed so stupid to him.  He was not surprised at all when Jac and FF began to run the rDB just as the EH had been run.  Greed and lust for power does not lead to stable leadership.  Now, both Brotherhoods were weaker then they had once been combined.  It sickened TK that so much destruction had been caused because of one man’s desire for power and that so many fools listened to him.

TK walked swiftly through the Chaos squadron common room.  LT Paxton smiled and tried to start a conversation with TK.  TK coldly ignored him.  Although usually a social fellow, TK was to exhausted just thinking about to task at hand to respond.  As TK-7764 walked past Frey Gallandro who was sitting on a small sofa, memories began to flood on in.  Frey was one of the first people TK had met once he had left basic training on Daedalus.  He was a former Sith High Warrior and had fought with TK in many battles.  It seemed a shame to TK what time had done to him.  His eyes seemed sunken and his heart was weak and dark.  Even though TK still resisted much of the Krath ideology, he felt that he was still failing to its lure. 

As TK entered his small room, he let out a deep sigh.  This place sure was a lot smaller then his old suite.  Heck, his office had been bigger then his current living space.  Oh well, modern conveniences where of no concern to someone like him.  Why should he care when he can just slip in and out of this realm as he pleased.  Preparing for a long conversation, TK sat down and closed his eyes.

As his eyelids shut out the light, TK began to embrace the darkness.  Using the skills of Shadow Crafting could sometimes be quite taxing.  The alternate dimension of the Abyss was a tricky place to find someone, especially if they did not want to be found.  TK could wait though, he did not need sleep.  TK knew one man who was still fairly neutral after the split.  His old Consul, Darkfinn, had switched sides many times during the war.  He wasn’t concerned with ideologies, but with the people behind them.  Slipping past the mazes of black and infinite walls, TK finally began to sense what he was looking for.  He approached slowly so that Darkfinn would sense him as well, and then after about an hour of searching, he found him.  In the world of the Abyss, neither of the two looked human.  It was just a conversation between two shimmering shadows.

“So TK, you sense it too?” asked Darkfinn.  Without thinking or even knowing what he was going to say, TK spoke his answer.

“Yes, there is a disturbance.  Something is interfering with the Abyss.”

“It’s not just the Abyss, but with the real dimension as well.  They are both so close to each other, that one inevitably affects the other.  It is a symbiotic relationship of sorts, one that is currently not in balance.”   The Sith smiled, or at least TK sensed that he was smiling.

“Do you know what is causing this?”

“No TK I do not.  If I did I’d be stopping it rather then talking to you.  Has anyone been attacked on your side?”

“Attacked?  How?”

“We aren’t certain.  All we know is that several rDB Acolytes are dead.  Mejas Deto is in some sort of Force coma.”  That certainly surprised TK.  Mejas was a Dark Jedi Master and certainly one of the most powerful Krath Arcona had ever known.  “I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Darkfinn.  “Still, it seems familiar.”

“Yes, I agree,” replied TK.  TK began to think back to when he and Frey had last been in combat together.  They had helped stop a Sith who had been trapped in the Abyss thousands of years.  After being released from his prison, he had attacked Eos hoping to gain control over the Brotherhood.  Darkfinn had defeated him in the Abyss, but still…

“Yes TK, I know what you are thinking.  It does sound like it doesn’t it?”

“It’s not his style.”

“Perhaps, but I fear that a connection might still exist.  You should get going TK.  Somebody else wants to talk to you.”  TK snapped open his eyes.  The bright light of his room blinded him.  Dazed, he looked to his left as the door slide open.  In the doorway, Daar stood wearing his flight suit.

“Come on, we got a patrol route to run in five minutes.”

            Kane won’t be happy thought TK.  There were just more questions and no answers.
