Battlegroups Report 11

Greetings and welcome to a new edition of the Battlegroups report! This report’s shorter than usual, but that doesn’t mean that things aren’t going on.

NEWS FROM THE BGS

The position of RelCOM has been opened for applications. Check out the TC News page for the requirements and the like. Applications go to myself and Pri.

Two Silver Stars were awarded to BGs members during the past week. Check out the Battlegroups Forum to see who earned this honor. From now on, all awards of BS level or higher will be posted there. Take a look, and congratulate those who’ve earned recognition for their efforts and activities!

The Challenge continues her refit, and RA Astoris seems to have taken leave in the process. Relentless and Immortal continue their border patrols, checking out reports of pirate activity in the process. BGs Intel is now convinced that we have a new pirate group active in the border sectors; one that is much more aggressive than normal. Both ships remain at Condition Two alert. In the case of the Immortal, alert status is augmented by a frantic hunt for some escaped space monkeys!

STANDING ORDERS AND PROCEDURES

Remember the reporting standards? No? Well, here’s a refresher. All command positions (except for the WC) are expected to do weekly reports. WCs get by with one every two weeks. Reports need to be posted on the TC database in addition to being forwarded up the chain of command. Some of you are doing this – others are not. Reports aren’t that hard to do, and you can have fun with ‘em in the process.

RANT FROM THE RANKS

It seems everyone’s either happy with the way things are going, or dead, because we have no rant from the ranks this week. So maybe I’ll do one…

The Rant is a way for you to let off steam. To air ideas that might not normally be accepted by the chain of command. And to do so in a forum that allows you to remain anonymous (well…I’ll know who you are, but your identity doesn’t have to be revealed when the Rant is published). It also gives me a chance to answer those questions, comments, or complaints. No rants makes it seem like everything’s just fine with everyone. Maybe that’s true, and if so it’s good. No complaints? Great! So long as I do BGCOM reports, the opportunity for the Rant will remain. But I also don’t want to hear any whining about ‘no one listens to us FMs’ or the like. That’s what the Rant’s here for, and it’s something I take very seriously. All healthy military organizations have forums similar to this, although they come in many forms. Ours is the Rant. Use it. It’s there for you.

CLOSING THOUGHTS

We now have an official Battlegroups Forum! I encourage all of you to make heavy use of it. The ASF’s been using their forum for years to sound off on issues of importance to their entire battlegroup: let’s do the same!

That’s all for now. Keep flying and having fun!
