Battlegroup News

Battlegroup vs Sovereign Competition Looming..

Thanks to the sterling efforts of VA Darksaber and an idea submitted by CM Zept Leeartic, The Battlegroups will (hopefully) soon be engaging all the Sovereign forces in a Highlander-esque battle. As of now, details are still being thrashed out but it is looking hopeful for a start towards the end of the month. This will see all Battlegroup squadrons fighting off the challenges of the Sovereign's deadliest squadrons in a fight to the finish. Last one standing is the winner. More updates on this competition will be given as soon as we have confirmation for them.

Shameless Plugging Comp Over - LCM Deimos the winner..

The competition has closed with LCM Deimos picking up the top award. Second place went to CM Shadow and third was picked up by LCM Darkeagle.

It became apparent during the competition that not everyone understands the purpose of this competiton. It's purpose was to provide valuable feed back to me as a mission creator, which I got an abundant supply of. Yes, it was on the Tie gaming platform, but it is my intention to do more of these little competitions for our top mission creators (such as Beef and Roguewing) when they release new battles. Feedback is important as it tells us where we went wrong and what we did right in the battle. I also wanted open, honest reviews. I can not stand people who kiss arse. It should be noted that the winner of this competition, Deimos, rated it as a three.

Roguewing has an XWA-IW battle coming out very soon. It is my intention to do a shameless plugging on this battle.

Activity hits astonishing levels..

What a month for us it was. VA Darksaber leading the Immortal on to flying 2080 missions. Mightly impressive for an XWA ship. COL Indaro Gallia got his Colossus pilots together and flew 3286 missions. Wow..

IWATS activity is up too on all ships, numbers are rising, Promotions and Medals are coming thick and fast... Makes my job easy.

The Relentless's conversion to XWA is proceeding well. Soon, the whole ship will be a XWA base platform one. This doesn't mean they can not fly Tie Fighter anymore, just that competitions and new pilots that arrive will be XWA as standard.

Non-Flying Competition just around the corner..

Thrashed out on IRC with a couple of the Commodores, this Competition will see pilots create graphics, writing fiction and making missions to a singular theme. This competition will last one month from August the 1st. The theme for this months competition will be "History of the Battlegroups". This is a pretty loose topic and can range from how we came about getting our ships right up to the last ECR and beyond. Details for this competition are yet to be confirmed but I can tell you that for each catagory (Graphics, Writing, Mission Design), there will be an IS-GR, IS-SR and an IS-BR up for grabs. More details on this competition will be released closer to the time.

LCM Deimos new Baron of the Fleet!!..

Immortal pilot LCM Deimos has become the new Baron of the fleet with a simply astonishing combat record. Even more incredible is the fact that he's got to this position in just under 200 missions. A truly impressive strike rate of 66% on Mission Highs and 87% on Battle Highs has put him top of the tree ahead of some pretty incredible pilots. Will he stay there over the summer break? We'll just have to wait and see..

XvT Competitions - 09:59 - VA Khadgar [khadgar1@shaw.ca]
I have signed the EH up for a Competition starting this Friday. It will last one week, and is specifically oriented towards XvT players and TIE Interceptors. The competition will be held on The Zone against participating clubs. LoCs will be awarded, so please come out! For further details, please see http://www.battlestats.com/games/xvt/war/info/?war1332.

I would also like to note that the EH is signed up for XvT WoW, which will start on July 19 and go until July 26. I have been impressed with pilot participation in WoW events, and I'm sure this one will get a great response as well!

Starcraft Tournament - 09:57 - CPT Argon Viper [uboat53@hotmail.com]
Just to make sure that everyone knows, there is a Starcraft competition going on on board the Sov at the moment. Its intended starting date is August first, so try to sign up by then. It will be a round robin event, so be prepared to play lots of games. The only requirements are a working copy of Starcraft and a working B-net account. I'm willing to open this up to non-Sovers, so join up.

End Of Imperial Storm III - 00:33 - VA Pel [Palinathas@aol.com]
After doing a total recounting of all teams possessions, including points on hand, values of all items possesed (including probes) and counting each planet to be worth it's daily RP value, I find the following new values:

ATF has 16090 after recounting

Sov has 65338 after the recount

ASF has 40924 after a recount

Total is 122352

ATF has 13.1 %

Sov has 53.4 %

ASF has 33.4 %

Goal of the game was supposed to be 75 %. No team reached that. All teams finished with lower totals than they started. The Sov has the highest total points, but the ASF has the smallest loss of points from their start. This does not lead to a clear winner, as the rules did not anticipate someone not winning in the allotted time. I therefore will consider the ASF and the Sov team to both have marginal victories.

Due to the nature of this competition, I am not able to award medals to the winning team anyway. I would however like to commend all of you, and your teams for their excellent work. Of particular note I want to thank CM Ender mBind, for his work in this game, creating the Web Site, and helping with TIE mission creation. I wish to thank the Sov team, for their excellent meeting of deadlines, it made my job a lot easier. I want to thank the TFAs of all teams, for questioning me and the rules when necessary, and for giving me ideas for the future. But most importantly I want to thank the pilots who showed up, and everyone who participated and had a good time. Admirals, I ask that you take into account your pilots' activities in ImpStorm when reviewing their records for promotion or medals.

Thank you all for a good Game, I now take a weekend leave ( I will be away) and then I will begin work on a few new games, on a much smaller scale, to take place as soon as possible. There will be a basic game (very similar to ImpStorm) and a more advanced game (for those who have wargaming experience). Notice will be posted to apply for these games.

Wing Commander Appointments - 13:10 - FA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]
Congratulations go out to Major Falcon who has been selected as the new Wing Commander of Wing XX and also to Lieutenant Colonel Halcyon, the new Wing IV WC. Both have a long and proven history of command ability and should prove to be fine choices.

TO Site - 10:36 - VA Mell [mell@tiecorps.org]
I have received a lot of email recently telling me about bad links on the TO Site. Before you email me about bad links, can you ensure that you are using the new site located on http://www.emperorshammer.net/to/

If you find any bad links on this site then please feel free to email me.

Petition for a sequel to TIE Fighter - 01:57 - MAJ Kyle Katarn [Kyle.Katarn@a1.net]
There is an online petition to LucasArts for creation of a sequel to TIE Fighter. You all being loyal Imperial pilots, I am sure that is one of the long term goals of your life :)

Go sign it at: http://www.petitiononline.com/tf2pc/

XO's comment - I don't really think I need to tell everyone how important a new TIE game would be for the TIE Corps and the EH as a whole. Currently, we have a situation where our primary platform, TIE Fighter, is becoming very hard to acquire and even harder to run on modern systems. XvT had multiplayer, but not very good singleplayer and, from what I've been told, network code that isn't exactly that hot. XWA has the eyecandy, it runs on modern systems and OSes, but it has issues of modification and the Rebel setting. With some recent PC releases such as JK2 and SWGB, Lucasarts is finally loosening the bonds and allowing fans to create content. This could factor into a new TIE game, so go put your name on the petition.

BATTLEGROUP SQUADRON OF THE MONTH
OMICRON - ISD COLOSSUS

Colonel Indaro's Original Recommendation..

Wysseri Arestar managed 518 missions this month, 2 IWATS courses, 4 graphics, Pilot of the Month, 3rd time as CMDR of Squadron of the Month, has never led a squadron anywhere other than first.
I said in Iota evaluation that they missed out on Squadron of the Month, Omicron are the reason why.
8 IWATS
197 BSFs
1177 Missions
695 Bonus points (Graphics, Fiction, Mission Creation)

Omicron were responsible for over a 3rd of the Wing's total missions for the month, 3286.

Run that by me again.. Just HOW MANY MISSIONS did you say? I have never seen a squadron as active as this from Omicron. Their activity is not restricted to the Tie Platform either, XWA, XvT and combat events make up their flight time, Graphics and fiction making up the bulk of what is left. I am left wondering, do these guys ever sleep, eat or have lives outside of the TC?.. didn't think so, Congrats Guys.

Thus Concludes my report..
