Battlegroups Report 3

Greetings, pilots! It’s time for another edition of the BG Report. This one’s short and sweet…;-)

ECR News
Phase II has been completed, and the results are official! The breakdown follows, along with updated points totals.
First Place: Badlan, Wing X
Second Place: Drake, Wing IX
Third Place: Zept, Wing VIII
Overall Standings (arranged by Wing order):
ISD Colossus: 20 points (including a participation correction from Phase I)
ISD Relentless: 35 points
ISD Challenge: 40 points (including a participation correction)
ISD Immortal: 30 points (including a participation correction)

As you can see, it’s anyone’s ECR still, with only 20 points between the last place and first place ISDs. Phase III will begin next week – the much-anticipated flying phase! Now that the database appears to be more or less operational, we can get this thing going again! The medals for Phase I will be awarded with those for Phase II, so expect to see some Iron Stars coming your way soon!

A quick word about the ECR for those of you who are new to the BGs. Exercise: Cantina Run is a yearly event in the BGs designed to pick the flagship for the coming year. Last year’s ECR winner was the ISD Immortal, so they’re the current flagship. Will they be able to hold onto their title? Only time (and Phase III) will tell.

BG News
There have been a number of command changes since my last report, and I’d like to extend my congratulations to all those officers who’ve been promoted. We’ve also seen some familiar faces leave our ranks for other duties or opportunities, and I’d like to wish them farewell. I’d also like to welcome our new arrivals (cadets and otherwise) to the ranks of the Battlegroups.

Activity is starting to pick up again now that the DB is operational again. People are flying again, and the scent of competition is in the air. I know some ships are already arranging internal competitions, and I’d encourage you to look outside your own ship as well. A little outside competition is always good!

I’d also like to mention that there will be another BG-wide competition in the very near future. This one promises to be unlike anything done before in the BGs, so get ready. It will involve both flying and a bit of role-playing…something for everyone! Stay tuned for more information very soon.

Other Tidbits
I know there have been a number of transfers recently, both into and out of the BGs. Remember to cc everyone in your chain of command when you do this: it makes the FO (and the BG Flag Staffs) happy.

MSE time is drawing near once again. Make sure your records are in order. I’d like to see all MSEs in my in-box by the fifth of December. Also, the Flight Officer’s Command Attaché has requested that all required reports be posted to the TC database. We all got lax with this when the DB was down, but now that it’s working again we need to get on the ball with this. I expect all BG command staff (from the most senior COM down to the newest CMDR) to make use of the DB’s ability to store reports. It’s good for recruiting, it allows your people to see what’s been happening, and it helps us all keep in touch with what’s going on in other units.

The ISD Colossus will be officially “on leave” during the last days of this week (the Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S.). I will also be on leave from November 28 through December 3 due to RL obligations. Remember: if you’re going to be on leave, let your chain of command know. And don’t forget about the leave status options in the database.

If you have any questions about the BGs, ideas for future competitions, or just want to say hello, my inbox is always open. I like hearing from the officers under my command, from the newest Flight Member up to the most veteran commodore.

In service of the Empire!
