Vice Admiral BubbaX reporting on 1.16.2005

Hola,

Nothing terribly exciting has happened over the course of the past week. The biggest news is the awarding of the CoLs… which is only partially complete. For some reason, only three of twelve TCBG CoLs have been awarded thus far. No idea why.

Make the TCBGs a New Banner!!!
Our current banner is sooooo passé. I have just submitted a New TCBG Banner competition that, if approved, will earn the winner a shiny new IS-GR. Get to work on new banners for the BG!

Casino Imperiale!
The basics are simple, you fly, you write an after-flight report, and you write a fiction. Here’s the thing, though. This will be scored by wing averages, much like ECR VI was. This means that everyone who doesn’t participate will be dragging their wing down, down, down. Luckily, there is a way around this for people who either don’t want to fly, or don’t want to write! As long as you do one or the other, you won’t be hurting the wing. Meaning that if you only write a fiction, you won’t be hurting the wing average, but if you don’t do anything, then shame on you. Yes, you. I can see you reading this, and no, this isn’t me being lazy and just copying what I wrote last week. I know where you live. To conclude this, there is absolutely no reason to not participate, besides being a hippie. Don’t be a hippie.

The Mysterious BG-wide Comp Formerly Known as “Operation: Luxury Yacht (Pronounced ‘Throatwobbler Mangrove’)”
I can’t tell you anything about this now, because I don’t want to ruin the surprise. I will say, however, that we have made significant progress on this since I initiated the project in my first week as BGCOM, and, barring death, disembowelment, hail, or nuclear fallout, the comp will be ready come Springtime!

More wonderful fluff:

Murphys Law of Combat Operations:
21. The important things are always simple; the simple are always hard.
22. The easy way is always mined.
23. Teamwork is essential; it gives the enemy other people to shoot at.
24. Don't look conspicuous; it draws fire. For this reason, it is not at all uncommon for aircraft carriers to be known as bomb magnets.
25. Never draw fire; it irritates everyone around you.
26. If you are short of everything but the enemy, you are in the combat zone.
27. When you have secured the area, make sure the enemy knows it too.
28. Incoming fire has the right of way.
29. No combat ready unit has ever passed inspection.
30. No inspection ready unit has ever passed combat.
31. If the enemy is within range, so are you.
32. The only thing more accurate than incoming enemy fire is incoming friendly fire.
33. Things which must be shipped together as a set, aren't.
34. Things that must work together, can't be carried to the field that way.
35. Radios will fail as soon as you need fire support.
36. Radar tends to fail at night and in bad weather, and especially during both).
37. Anything you do can get you killed, including nothing.
38. Make it too tough for the enemy to get in, and you won't be able to get out.
39. Tracers work both ways.
40. If you take more than your fair share of objectives, you will get more than your fair share of objectives to take.

Ooga booga.

I think animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.
