Battlegroups Weekly Report #7

Greetings, members of the Battlegroups:

Well, today's is a very very short report en lue of the upcoming Holiday... what? Thanksgiving! I know not everyone celebrates it, but it is a nice holiday. You get lots of food, get really tired, ect. Well, in the Star Wars continuity this holiday ties-in with Christmas to form a date called "Life Day," a galaxy-wide event focused mostly on Rim worlds. They made a holiday special out of this, complete with the origonal cast. Carrie Fisher even sang! Well, it was terrible and even Geroge Lucas resents it ever being made and aired. So if you see it... forget it, totally bogus!

Competition Postponment:
Well... I know, bad news. The big comp that I have been babbling for weeks will have to wait. I realized I planed to start it up over the busy holiday season when most people bay almost no atteniton to the EH whatsoever. Thanks to Colonel Ricaud for pointing this out. Expect the new starting date to be somewhere in the neighborhood of January.

Battlegroups Ace Pilot League:
Well I guess everyone has gone to sleep too early this season. So far, despite the event on the Challenge, we have one challenge. Colonel Theodore will face off against Relentless Ace Champion Captain Kane, a former contender for the Battlegroups Ace Title, currently held by Captain Xyrryc. Other than that all titles are unchallengeable until the Challenge Title is decided. A reminder to all aboard the Challenge- You have until Wednesday to attempt Free Mission TIE-105 to place a contendership for the Challenge Title. Remember, send your files to your commanders so they can complie results for your squad. Good Luck!

Battlegroups Website:
http://battlegroups.ehnet.org
Well... assuming that it isn't shut down by Mister ABK for his lack-of-forshadowment, the webiste will recieve some updates care of the BG Internet Officer, Quake! Expect updates shortly... inclusing some ASPiation. Who knows? Maybe even I will make some updates myself... maybe.

News from the ISD Relentless, Supplied by Colonel Val Ricaud:
1. MUD PIE
It's been going for a few days now, and the tentative Battlegroups MUD (though to be quite honest it's not even EH-related in any way yet, but is more generalised Star Wars) has proved to be as addictive as chocolate-flavoured crack. Already people have been enjoying thrilling adventures ... well, not really adventures, more bumbling cock-ups really. Like Colonel Kessler flying straight into Coruscant's sun ... Colonel Kessler accidentally shooting me dead ... Colonel Kessler being "accidentally" destroyed by my ship which "accidentally" fired off two missiles at his fighter as it left Byss a short time later ... you get the picture. :P To access the MUD, download a client program such as zMUD (www.zuggsoft.com) or MUSHclient(http://www.gammon.com.au/welcome.html) and connect to the server enforcer.raptor.nu and port 4000.

2. THE INCONTINENCE BRIGADE STRIKES BACK
The ISD Relentless "Staff of '99" (COL Ricaud, COL Doyon, COL Theodore, COL Sauron, LC Mezynski, LC Shark) scored a victory for smelly old veterans everywhere this week as they defeated the "Staff of 2000" (VA Maldon, RA Andronicus, CM Ted, CPT Malaktos, CM Quake, CPT Kane) in a TIE flight competition. Non-participation on the 2000 side (*cough*lazy git Flag Officers*cough*) and particularly high scores by the 1999 crew combined to strike a double-blow against the Rookies. Remember kids: never underestimate that strange-smelling Colonel sitting in the corner of the bar who offers to tell you war stories if you buy him another drink!

3. THE MUD
Have we already mentioned this? Oh, okay, just making sure. :P

4. ARE YOU PLAYING THEM MUD YET?
Just for good measure, it could do with being brought up. :-) enforcer.raptor.nu port 4000. ;-) Does it show that it's been a quiet week all-round, and I'm just pathetically trying to fill for space? No? Oh good. :P

5. GRATUITIOUS A$$-KISSING WILL GET YOU YOUR OWN REPORT MENTION
My apologies to all you hard-working brown-nosers out there, but this week I've been far too busy flying and playing the MUD to notice any extreneous kissing of ass. Either that, or you people aren't working hard enough to sucking up to your Wing Commander. I want to see more effort next week in this area so somebody can get their report mention! Hop to it! Hut hut!

News from the ISD Colossus, Supplied by Vice Admiral Ari:
Well folks, today's the day you've all been waiting for, the day of the release of the top secret project I've been working on for the past 2 weeks. But first, some news! Col vs. Avenger comp ended this Wednesday, and the Col ended up with a total of 2,324,049!!! The Avenger still hasn't sent in results yet, but I'm confident we beat them :-)
The Colossus Elite has challenged Praetorian to TC-TIE #165! If you aren't sure if you're on the elite, check http://mu.squadron.org/wingVIIIelite !
The BattleGroups MUD is up and running nicely, info on it was sent out to the egroups. Any questions, please direct to CPT Dan Malaktos of the Rel or myself.
Now, what EVERYONES been waiting for...I will now reveal the TOP SECRET PROJECT I have been working on for the past two weeks! This project promises to be an invigorating and dynamic thing to the Colossus. Gentlemen, I present to you the ISD COLOSSUS ARENA The ISD Colossus Arena is a ladder system for the Colossus wheres pilots can challenge each other to a FREE-TIE mission. Winners of the challenges will receive points in the Arena and raise their standings. The Arena Challenges go on for 3 months. At the end of 3 months, we close competitions and at that time we will have the quarter-finals. The quarter finals is when the 1st through 8th ranking pilots in the arena will compete with each other. The winners will move on to the semifinals, then finals. The awards promise to be outstanding for the finalists: Quarter-finalists will receive an ISM Semi-finalists receive a PC Finalists receive a BS the CHAMPION of the finals... Will not only receive the BS due to him/her (ill see what i can do about an SS) He will also receive the title of: ISD COLOSSUS PARAGON KNIGHT The Paragon Knight is the exemplary pilot of the entire ship. He will go head-to-head with the best of the TC for fame and medals. The Paragon Knight will also become the Colossus Tactical Coordinator. The TacCoor will advise the flag staff on battles (which to pick for comps, for example) and the like. And of course, the title of Paragon Knight is a symbol of pride and fame. HOWEVER! As soon as the Paragon Knight is chosen, the scores are RESET according to the current FCHG rankings (that's how they were set this time, as well). From then on, we'll start anew for another 3 months and after that, the finals again, etc. All active pilots have been registered for the ISD Colossus Arena. The official site for the ISD Colossus Arena is http://www.isdcolossus.com/arena/main.asp please make SURE to bookmark it! Read the introductory paragraph, as well as the RULES! The site is pretty self-explanatory. If you have any questions, ask myself or the Arena Master, Captain Drake And with that, I bid all of you the best of luck within the ISD Colossus Arena! Oh yeah....I got some sort of worthless shiny medal thing too. I think they call it a GS. I'm not sure.

Final Thoughts:
Yeah, a short report... I know, I know. That time of year, afterall :)
I hope no one is dissapointed in our comp being moved back a while, I am sure you all understand. In the meantime, as so nicely noted by Colonel Ricaud, try out the new MUD. Expect the thing to be EH-ized shortly, should be quite a treat. If you haven't tried it out yet, do so promptly or Kessler will most likely die once again. As usual, any coments/sugestions/ranks, give me a shout :)
Next Battlegroup Report- This coming weekend.

Quote of the week: "I've been having fun in the MUD with Kessler." -Colonel Ricaud.
