SOVEREIGN AND FLEET NEWS AND NOTES

-- Things are REALLY slow, and it's not just my imagination this time. Wing comm channels are silent ... BSFs are few and far between ... competitions are not being conducted, other than the Sovereign League. No one is doing MWEs, MSEs, regular reports ... The database outage did not help, and the recovery of data has been draining and discouraging for many ... some pilots are off on summer vacations and other activities ... or playing new games. Speaking of new games, Imperial Alliance development apparently has hit a lull, so don't look for that to be a panacea right away. The Freeworlds mod of Freelancer is working, though, so there's an immediate outlet for Star Wars flight-style gaming with a twist newer than our usual flight sims. I got Freelancer last week and installed the mod; it is cool, but I quickly discovered I will have to play through Freelancer itself to get a feel for the game before I try the unforgiving environment of the Freeworlds server the EH plays on. The first time I entered the game, I got torched by some of the server police for not having the proper faction tag. Getting ragged on right out of the chute is not my idea of a fun environment. So, since then, I have dived back into SWG; at least there, I know how to deal with all situations -- but there is plenty of ragging and stupid crap afoot there too ... Oh, well, here's hoping that this summer and our collective Star Wars gaming experiences will improve beyond the (depressing?) state I feel they seem to be in at the moment ... Perhaps I am part of the problem here, too. I'll see if I can improve my own attitude and help get some things rolling again ...
