Intrepid Info and News
________________________________________

Greetings Intrepid, on to this weeks report!!

This will be a very LOOOOOONG report this week since we have a LOT of info to cover, as well as a ton of awards. Please read the entire report before asking me any questions. Typically you will find that I cover nearly everything in my weekly reports. ;)

Asp Squadron launched from the Intrepid main hangar bay, and as each fighter left the launch rack it immediately cloaked and proceeded on its predetermined course. Soon 12 TIE Phantoms were speeding their way to engage the oncoming New Republic force. As they closed into warhead range with the enemy fighters they refrained from engaging, but simply passed through the formations of enemy fighters. Soon they were within range of the MC-90 and its escort ships. Each Phantom was loaded with a quad load of Advanced Torpedoes, and each Phantom locked on manually to their predetermined targets so as not to give away their presence. The MC-90 was off limits to the Phantoms since they didn't carry heavy enough warheads to be of effective use against its shields, and the COM had decided that the sudden destruction of its escort ships would provide enough of a psychological impact, which was precisely what Asp Squadrons mission parameters called for.

Suddenly all 12 Phantoms began to shimmer into existence, and as they did they all locked on with their targeting computers and launched their loads of Advanced Torpedoes at the enemy escort vessels. Within moments 4 Modified Corvettes and an Assault Frigate were blazing and breaking apart as the vacuum of space began to force the hulls to implode. Asp Squadron had completed its mission and all 12 of the fighters reactivated their cloaks and sped off for the Intrepid for rearming and refueling. As the pilots of Asp returned to their mothership they witnessed first hand the quick destruction of the enemy fighters that had been launched. Fighters from Diamondback and Copperhead Squadrons were quickly cleaning up the Wing of fighters that had been sent to attack the Intrepid and her battlegroup. Unfortunately experience held that the NR wouldn't give up so easily and would send every fighter they had if they thought there was even a slim chance of destroying one one of the Star Destroyers of the Emperor's Hammer.

Within minutes of the destruction of their first Wing of fighters, the NR cruiser had launched a second wave, and on the bridge of the Intrepid the Communications Officer had picked up a communication calling for reinforcements. It quickly became clear that the NR fleet was bigger than originally thought, and RA Striker immediately began relaying orders to his battlegroup and Wing Commander to prepare for a more intensive battle. The question that came to the COM's mind was, just how deep a cost was the NR willing to spend before they realized that they were already in a losing battle?

I didn't receive any additions to last weeks installment, so as promised I will continue to run this storyline as long as it takes to either complete a plotline for a new battle, or it is readily apparent that there is no interest from the crew in participating. I know that we have some avid fiction writers on the Int, so I hope to see some involvement this next week and going forth. ;)

The ASF-SC V has officially ended, and the final results have been released. The Intrepid has retained her rightful title as the "Flagship of the ASF"! I personally want to thank every pilot on the Intrepid that took the time to participate and help lead us to victory. Special recognition goes out to CM Tvan'Oris who maintains his title as the Best ASF Pilot! Additional recognition goes out to Diamondback Squadron and LC Gidda for the hard work and astounding activity they put forth to help personally lead the Intrepid to victory and for being the #1 Squadron in the SC! Last, but certainly not least in anyway, I want to recognize CPT Phantom and her pilots for their hard work as well. At the beginning of the SC there were only three pilots total in Krayt Squadron, yet they quickly proved in the early days of the SC that they were not going to be beaten. Finishing as #5 in the SC, they proved that despite having fewer pilots than most Squadrons they were up to the task and are still deadly and capable. The Intrepid cleaned up in the individual category awards as well, so it is clear once again that the Intrepid is a force to be reckoned with. I'd like once again to thank the Flag Officers for a great challenge, and most of all to VA Darksaber for putting forth such a massive and fun competition! :)

A reminder that the ASF's "Xunami Wings - Flying" competition is still underway! Check the Competitions section below for more details! :)

Last week I announced a short Ship competition to acquire a new Nick/Motto for the Intrepid. This week I'm happy to announce that the following submissions have been selected as winners.
Best Nick: Spearhead of the ASF - LT CrimsonFury/Krayt Squadron
Best Motto: "Death follows in our wake" - LCM Justin/Krayt Squadron
Congratulations to both of these officers! They will each receive their shiny new Iron Star - Bronze Ribbons very soon!! :)

All MSE's have been submitted and reviewed by the Wing Commander and COM. At this time I believe all awards have been distributed, however a few promotions that we were seeking to push through have been postponed until later this month since the pilots in question haven't met the time in position requirements. Fortunately I can guarantee that they will be meeting those requirements this month, so expect many more promotions! Congratulations to everyone who received a shiny new medal and/or promotion. From speaking with some of the other ASF Flags it seems that the Intrepid had the most Bronze Stars awarded for January! :)

The TAC has launched the largest competition ever yet sponsored by the Tactical Office! Please go check out the details at http://www.emperorshammer.net/competitions/details.asp?ID=241!

Diamond Squadron has been awarded the title of "WC's Own" for the month of January! It goes without saying that Diamondback more than earned this honor.

In light of recent activity and accomplishments I have decided to put forth a new COM honor starting this month. The new title is "COM Escort Squadron" and a new Squadron will be selected every few months based on overall merit and acheivements. The first Squadron to be given this new honorary title goes to Krayt Squadron! CPT Phantom and her pilots showed early in the SC V that even with only 3 pilots they were ready to compete and challenge any larger Squadron. As they gained new pilots they continued to demonstrate this ability, and during the course of the SC earned a lot of new Battle Citations, as well as finishing 5th overall in the SC! All members of Krayt Squadron may now add the following to their ID Lines, "COM Escort Squadron"!

A quick reminder to everyone that the BGCOM's current ASF comp is still running until 2/16! Check out the comp section below for the full details!!

Per a request from the WC I will be updating the Intrepid/Wing XIV Yahoo Group once again. However, if anyone wishes to be removed after I do the updates they will be required to submit a request to the Moderator, who happens to be me, before they will be removed. This should prevent any email addresses from suddenly disappearing. A reminder to everyone that this Group is used for submitting suggestions, ideas, comments, etc. not for spamming everyone with pointless debates. If you want to debate a topic go to the Int/Wing14 MB and do it there. ;)

COL E. Tarkin has resigned as WC of Wing XV. I have not yet been informed if RA Sickman is accepting applications or has someone in mind already. I'll keep everyone informed if and when I am informed that he is accepting apps.

Congratulations to MAJ Tissaya Argat for being awarded the Silver Star of the Empire! Her hard work and efforts as the WC of Wing XIV have demonstrated that she was more than worthy of this honor. Along with the BGCOM I'd like to express my sincere thanks to Tissy for her commitment to keep Wing XIV rolling along even during some of the tough periods we've experienced lately. Well done Tissy!! :)

The EH's new Operations Officer denied my request to award CPT Gistenjunge with the Bronze Star of the Empire for surpassing 300 MP victories. The only recent news the ASF CS have had about this matter has come from the FO who informs us that he is working with OPS to remedy this matter as quickly as possible. I have no idea what OPS has in mind or if he plans to revoke or revise our current ASF Career Medal structure. As more info becomes available to the ASF CS I'll be sure to pass it along. In the meantime keep working towards those Career goals! ;)

Congrats go out to CPT's Gistenjunge, Phantom and Blade for their recent promotions! It is rare to see so many CMDR's be promoted at the same time, and even rarer to see them all get promoted to the same rank. These promotions speak highly of each officer and of their achievements as CMDR's. I hope everyone takes a moment to personally congratulate them when you see them on IRC or walking the corridors of the Intrepid. :)

Congrats to CM Aragorn on being promoted to the rank of full Commander! Great job Aragorn, and I personally want to thank you for your continued dedication and service to Wing XIV and the ISD-II Intrepid! :)

A reminder to all Intrepid personnel that the EH sells a wide variety of gifts and assorted items at http://www.cafeshops.com/emperor! Go check out what is available!

For humor and a time killer, feel free to visit "Good Guys vs. Bad Guys" at http://www.freewebs.com/colaboy/sw/badguys.html. This link has been provided by LCM Tatsu, and to be honest I really enjoyed reading it. Especially the part where it says; "In order to maintain the necessary objectivity, the self-styled "Rebel Alliance" will be referred to as "the Terrorists". Now who could possibly not want to read this and still serve in the EH? LOL Thanks again Tatsu for providing this entertaining read. :)

Btw, I'm still interested in finding a new GFX/Icon to have as the official header of my weekly COM/Ship reports. The one above is a bit fuzzy, only because I had to enlarge it from its original size. So if anyone is interested in creating something really awesome and getting an ISM as well let me know. ;)

New Battlestats Hosted Comps held in the Zone!
10:51 - VA Kyle Katarn [Kyle.Katarn@isdcolossus.com]
For those in our battlegroups who would like additional training in WoW atmosphere, LC Dax Corrin and I have entered us in 4 new WoW events that Battlestats.com is offering.

1: XWA Week of War XLVI and XvT Week of War LVI. You know all the rules.

2: Cloakshape Calamity: This is an XWA based war where only Cloakshape fighters will be allowed, all other matches will be deleted. EH members WILL be allowed to fly against each other. This will give us an opportunity to fly something other than the typical T/I matches we currently predominately use. Also, more opportunities to earn LoCs and DFCs. Please get the word out to all who own XWA for this one. War dates are this Friday, February 7th till Friday, February 14th.

3: Firespray Fetish: This is basically the same as the above, with Firespray craft the only allowed craft, all other matches will be deleted. Same rules apply, players from the same club WILL be allowed to fly each other. Dates for this event are February 14th-21st.

4: For our XvT pilots, the Assault Gunboat Galore II starts this Friday. Dates for war are Feb 7-14th, same rules as XWA cloakshape and Firespray wars. EH members are allowed to fly each other. Only Assault gunboat matches are allowed, all other matches will be deleted.

I hope this gives our membership an additional opportunity to hone their MP skills so we may improve for the 2 main WoW events.

Modified Strike Cruiser for XWA released
17:33 - AD Ender mBind [mindb_ender@hotmail.com]
The Science Office has released a patch to add the Modified Strike Cruiser (M/SC, the "Rebel Interdictor") to X-Wing Alliance. The OPT was made by CM Tim, patch by myself and AD Darkhill.

You can download the patch from the IW section in the Patch Archive at the Science Office Website. (oh.. and thanks DS for testing;P)

Colossus Commodore Appointed
10:10 - FA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]
Congratulations to General Indaro who has been promoted to Rear Admiral and Commodore of the ISD Colossus.

Sovereign Squadron League
10:16 - AD Proton [Hullbreach@warpmail.net]
The big announcement from the flagship this week is that the SSSD Sovereign League 2003 will begin March 15! That's right -- one of the best competitions in the history of the Emperor's Hammer is being reborn. And this time it will not only include the usual TIE competition, but we're introducing XWA and XvT single-player divisions too! I have appointed LC Todbringer, a longtime Sovereign pilot and veteran of the previous Sovereign League seasons, to head up the competition. He will be assisted by MAJ Artys, another top veteran, and perhaps other pilots. They will handle the day-to-day operations and record keeping, and I will be on hand throughout to assist them and help resolve any problems or disputes. As in its previous incarnations, the Sovereign League will run through a regular season, with squadrons fighting for post-season playoff positions. Each round will last two weeks, with pilots flying assigned free missions. The surviving playoff teams will fly full battles in several rounds of elimination. The winning squadrons will receive many honors, and the winners of the individual top-gun contests will receive medals and much recognition. I'm also excited to announce that the Sovereign League will be open to all squadrons in the TIE Corps! The squadrons of the flagship will be proud to host fellow squadrons from throughout the corps that also desire to participate. Watch for the SSSD Sovereign League 2003 "Season Primer" memorandum within the next week or two. In the meantime, you all know what to do: Get ready to fly your flightsuits off!! :)

10:22 - FA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]

New battles and free missions
08:31 - AD Marcin Szydlowski [pbmike@go2.pl]
This time rather small package:

  • XvT-TC #57
  • XvT-FREE #130-133
  • XWA-FREE #90
Enjoy! :)

New historical records feature
13:08 - SA Astatine [jpboyce@indigo.net.au]
The historical record page now lists your medals, awarded after September 2000, along with the reason and who awarded it.

Tactical Office Regulation #1
04:33 - AD Marcin Szydlowski [pbmike@go2.pl]
Due to recent problems and complaints on our battle I've decided to order as follows:

  1. Destruction of EH ships listen in Fleet Manual is forbidden (unless FCHG or CAB)
  2. All EH vs EH battles are forbidden, unless some conditions met.
  3. FCHG/CAB battles, when we loose IW ship, must be approved by IWTAC, DB ship by SHW, and so on.
You can find more details here. This does not affect battles already released and those in beta queue.
