Intrepid Info and News
________________________________________

Greetings Intrepid and on to this weeks report!!

CMDR's be sure this reaches all of your pilots!!

As always a lot of news items to cover, so relax, get a big drink and read on! hehe

This past week LC Tissaya Argat resigned/left all of her EH positions. Her departure was a big blow to the Intrepid where Tissy had served the majority of her TC career. However, while we will all miss her, life must go on and move forward. As such a new WC has been appointed, and I am supremely confident that our newly appointed MAJ Phantom will be more than capable to carry on the hard work Tissy had put in. Already Phantom has started a new Intrepid Ladder Competition, and we have discussed a number of new ideas for projects. Welcome to the Flag ranks Phantom!! :)

Along with Phantom being appointed as the new WC, I had to select a new CMDR to replace her in Krayt. I fortunately didn't have to look very far since the perfect person just happened to return this past week. COL Frodo is once again the Krayt CMDR, and as many of you are aware this crazy Hobbit has his own unique command style. And for those of you that have placed concern about his "green" letter attacks, let me assure you that I have already informed him that green is still banned on the Intrepid. LOL Frodo, it's great to see you back in our ranks, although it is sad that you had to return with so much frustration. Hopefully running Krayt once again will help make you feel better about commanding. ;)

Today I was contacted by MAJ Dark Hawk, CMDR of Falcon Squadron on the ISD Immortal. He is trying to bring life back to Falcon and has asked for help from throughout the Fleet. Since I have always tried to lead the Intrepid in the tradition of being the backbone of the TC and while I hate losing pilots, I also cannot stand by and watch Squadrons close and other Ships suffer as a result. Therefore I am hereby putting forth a request from MAJ Dark Hawk that any pilot(s) wishing to help rebuild Falcon and Wing XI should submit their transfer requests ASAP. Be sure to follow the proper guidelines in requesting your transfers. Ibram Gaunt is considering transferring at this time to assist Dark Hawk, so if there is at least one more pilot interested please contact MAJ Phantom and I quickly so we can get the ball rolling. Btw, MAJ Dark Hawk can be reached at (darkhawk1@comcast.net). Not that I'm trying to force anyone off the Ship, but with the fact that the TC lost so many pilots due to the recent DB crisis, it wouldn't hurt to send some veteran pilots over to the Immortal to help them stay alive. :P

I'd like to formally welcome LT Obiwan who joins the Intrepid as the new FL for Krayt Flight III! Welcome aboard, and I hope you have a lot of fun on the Intrepid!! :)

I won't go into specific details, but right now there are changes in the works regarding new members to the EH and M/PLT Daedaleus. The Flags and FO have for some time been talking privately about ways to increase the number of new members getting through training, and recently a new plan was created to achieve this. The XO has approved the new plan and now we are simply awaiting the recoding of the database in order for the new changes to take affect. The XO has a lot on his plate right now what with creating a whole new DB database, so the FO is going to give him another week before pushing for these changes to be implemented. As we are allowed to disperse the info I'll be sure and send it out. But be assured that the new changes are going to be great, and it will give CMDRs and FLs a chance to show how well they can deal with training new pilots! ;)

A friendly reminder to all pilots, if you fly a BoP battle/mission, only use the pilot file from the XvT main directory. The file from BoP isn't a valid .plt file, but a .pl2 file that the db can't read. Likewise, the XvT BSF Droid is unable to read these .pl2 files as well. So FYI from now on, be sure you send the .plt file from XvT when submitting your pilot files to your CMDR/WC/COM. It'll save a lot of heartache and pain later. Oh, and NEVER delete a pilot file until you are certain it has been approved. If something happens and it hasn't been approved yet and you have already deleted it, guess who will be reflying it. :P

CM Chris Cox has transferred from Wing XIV to Rage Squadron on the SSD Avenger. I'm not quite certain what caused him to suddenly transfer, but in the future I do ask that if a pilot feels they have a problem on the Intrepid that they notify their Chain of Command before taking such drastic steps. Besides, it is required anyway, and I personally want to know about any issues that my pilots may have. I can't fix something unless I know about it.

This past week the ASF hit 150 members. Unfortunately some transfers, RSV and AWOLs put us back down to 144 as of the time I'm writing this report. However, this is not bad, as we still are considered by many to be the most active BG in the Fleet. I'm aware of some new pilots that may soon be joining us. Keep up the great work on recruiting and the ASF will eventually max itself out and we'll have to open the ISD Predator or Hammer! And when that happens there will be a flood of new Flag and CMDR positions available. :)

This past week Microsoft announced that it would be closing down a number of its Zone channels. Of those games named, XvT and XWA were found to be on this list. What does this mean? Well in essence this means that if they do close these two channels that will effectively kill all WoW events hosted by BSC. We have tried for many months now to get more and more people to attend these events from the EH, but as a result the powers that be at MS have decided that there is little cause to keep these rooms open when barely more than 20-30 people are ever in it at any one time. Not to mention that many that do show up in these channels rarely ever actually do any flying. They seem to spend more time hanging out and chatting. :P Anyway, right now many of the smaller clubs are looking towards the EH for guidance on how to deal with the potential loss of the WoW competitions. The COO and his staff are working on some ideas and projects, and at the same time this is a great time for our MP pilots to get out on these Zone channels and seek out some new recruits. Doubtless many of these smaller clubs will die out if they lose the Zone, so many people will be looking for a stable club that can provide activities and MP events to keep them interested. Therefore the recruiting opportunities are immense right now thanks to MS. hehe Btw, if you would like to sign the petition asking MS to reconsider their closing of these channels, please go to http://www.petitiononline.com/xwa/petition.html and do so today!

Both Wing XIV Groups have been updated recently, so if anyone still isn't getting the emails from it please let me know immediately and I will look into why. Also, MAJ Phantom is now set as a moderator on both so she has access to remove/add users as well.

Speaking of the Yahoo Groups. I'd really like to encourage everyone on the Interpid to be active in using the Wing XIV Group. It helps generate activity and also provide an outlet for discussing many topics. Since some of you seem to have some form of allergies in using the Message Boards, I think this would be far easier instead. Lets get the lines of communication open again and bring everyone closer together as a Wing! ;)

Congrats to MAJ Blade on his recent promotion! I just love promoting people, and promoting Blade was very exciting since he has done very well as a CMDR. Let this be a lesson to you all, if you put forth a little extra time and effort you too can be a great CMDR! Well done Blade!! :)

CM Kettch was promoted to the rank of Captain over the weekend! Kettch and I have known each other for a long time, having served together back when I was in Wing V long ago. His arrival to the Intrepid was not without some concern to many people because of the fact that Wing V tends to have a reputation for inactivity. But Kettch quickly proved that he wasn't one of those to be worried about, and his activity and participation since joining has been great! Congrats Kettch on a well earned promotion!! :)

The Intrepid Back to Basics Competition has ended! Unfortunately the high participation I was hoping for during Week 7 ended with only three pilots even submitting pilot files. The results have been compiled and the medals have been requested. Here are the final results:

1st Place - LC Gidda - 41,260
2nd Place - LCM CrimsonFury - 27,045
3rd Place - CM Justin - 22,199

As I said, overall the participation was not what was expected. I won't go into a tirade about how much time is put into trying to organize and run competitions, or how disappointing it is when people don't bother to take the time to participate. I will simply say that I am thankful for those that did take the time to participate and have fun in the process. Once the final medals have been awarded it will have ended with a total of 15 medals having been awarded! For a Ship-wide competiton that is truly astounding, and I have plans to run something similar in the near future that will allow even more medals to be awarded. Congrats to everyone that earned all those new medals! Last point of business on this competition is to announce who has won the IS-SW for overall 1st place wins. It comes as no surprise that LC Gidda has won this medal! His scores were truly astounding. Congrats Gidda on such a successful performance!! :)

Concerning other competitions, I am also formally announcing the end of the "Up to the Stars" and "They said what? Caption Contest" Competitions. Only one member participated in the "Up to the Stars" comp that I'm aware of. I asked that all submissions be sent to me, and only CM Justin complied. Therefore he wins the IS-SR for the competition! Congrats Justin! Btw, that was a great story. :) As for the "They said what? Caption Contest", no one submitted an entry, so that competition is now closed out entirely without a single medal being awarded. Let that be a lesson, you never know when you might have won a new medal without having any competition. :P

I'd like to encourage all pilots that have some problem with their ISPs that prevent them from doing MP combat to contact your ISP provider and inform them that you want this problem fixed. In case you aren't aware it is a violation of your service contract for any ISP to have any blockage on their servers that prevents you from having full access to the Internet. Firewalls are the biggest headache, but they can reset those to allow you as much access as you wish and still provide sufficient protection against viruses and hacking. For the most part the most effective way to prevent viruses is to have an up-to-date anti-virus on your computer, thereby eliminating the need for a firewall in the first place. In any event, even MAJ Phantom is going to be contacting her ISP on Monday about her problems. Remember, you pay for the service, you're entitled to having full use of it. :P

On Friday the word was put out on the TC News site that SquadFirst 1.3 Patch is now available for download at http://squadfirst.minos.net! Any CMDR or FL that is needing a new site should seriously look into using this great program! I've looked it over and am amazed that someone took the time and effort to put this together and then distribute it freely for use in the EH. I'm informed also that free hosting is provided by Minos.net and these site templates are already preset for use on the Minos server. ;)

Until things calm down during the next week to two weeks on the Intrepid I'm postponing setting up that competition with the Rebel Squadrons. The main reason is because I feel that there are a number of critical matters that need to be attended to here at home first before we begin seeking out competitions against other club Fleets. CMDRs can be assured that the WC and I will be contacting each of you in the next 7 days about problems or concerns within each Squadron. Please don't take these as meaning you are about to be fired or that you're doing something wrong. We just want to help each CMDR and FL with achieving the best for their respective Squadrons and Flight Groups. As soon as I'm certain that things are back on track then I'll finish detailing that comp with the RS and get things rolling.

This week I'd like everyone that is interested in working on the Intrepid Timeline project to contact me. This includes anyone that wants to only write the fiction, or do the actual mission creations. COL Frodo, please get in contact with me about heading up this project, I believe you're experience in Mission creation will be of extreme benefit. ;)

The EH Battle Center is now back online and battles/missions are now available for downloading once again. However, you must be logged into the db in order to access the downloads.

Go out and participate in the XWA WoW. Just before today's TC Meeting AD Darksaber participated in a match that placed the EH in 2nd place! Lets keep going and take 1st place for the 1st time every!!

CMDR Joey C has relocated the Asp MB to http://www.ehnet.org/mb/viewforum.php?f=81 . My thanks to Joey for seeing to this personally. He's also uploaded a new Asp website which can be found at http://www.ehnet.org/mb/viewforum.php?f=81. Apparently a mishap has happened and somehow the wrong URL for the new Asp MB has been placed on the Asp roster. Please use the one listed above until it is sorted out. Joey, you might want to get in touch with the FO and CA:FO about getting that fixed ASAP. :P

Sovereign Squadron League Week 4 is now underway! Squadrons participating should fly TIE-Free #183; XvT-Free #135; XWA-Free #98 and submit them to your respective CMDRs no later than May 9th! Good Luck, Happy Hunting, and Have Fun!! :)

Diamondback Squadron currently has an open FL position after CPT Tvan'Oris stepped aside to take over the Db 2-4 position. Any FM interested in filling this position should submit an application to LC Gidda (ehgidda@tiscalinet.it).

Once again I want to remind all Intrepid pilots that IRC is a free program and I encourage everyone to download it at www.mirc.com. We have a lot of fun on the #WingXIV channel, so come online and chat with your fellow wingmates and get to know them better!

And now, TIE Corps/EH News from the past week:

Wing Commander Resignations
06:58 - HA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]
Two WCs announced their resignations yesterday. Lieutenant Colonal Tissaya Argat retired as XIV WC, stating her reasons as unsolvable differences with a Command Officer. Colonel Frodo March has also resigned as WC of Wing V and stepped down to a Flight Member position in Krayt Squadron.

I'd just like to clarify that none of these resignations are to do with the recent DB events. Applications are not yet being accepted for either position. If they are then requirements will be posted here.

Wing X WC Appointed
07:06 - HA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]
The Wing Commander for Wing X on the Challenge has been selected sooner than I expected. Many congratulations go out to Major Frey Gallandro. Frey had a very successful tour as Inferno Commander in X, and we're confident he'll continue this trend as WC. Congrats!

Wing V
08:46 - HA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]
Applications are now being accepted for a new Wing V WC with the following requirements...

  • Must have held the position of Squadron Commander in the TIE Corps previously for no less than 4 consecutive months
  • Must have passed SM/2 or SM/3
  • Be able to reply to email and process BSFs within 24-48 hours
  • Send reports each week without fail
  • Must be able to handle significant amounts of admin work to keep the Wing running
  • Be able to motivate pilots and keep CMDRs working on improving their Squadrons
  • Must be able to create and run various competitions for the Wing
  • Applicants must be 100% dedicated to the Wing to see goals achieved and have the will to drive to that end
  • No serious HCI convictions in the last 12 months
  • A sincere sense of duty and loyalty to the SSSD Sovereign and a commiment to the participation in the activities of the Brotherhood of Sovereign Flag Officers
  • Strict adherence to the TC Standing Orders and Sovereign policy

Add you future plans for the Wing and what steps you would take to encourage recruitment, activity and keep things running smoothly.

The application period is open through to Friday 25th April. Mail apps to hullbreach@warpmail.net. Flakes, cheaters, resume-padders and anger management cases need not apply (that means you Miack!).

News at last!
02:35 - RA Darknyte [darknyte@alltel.net]
Well, no news has been posted since Monday so I decided to make a post. Uh, well...what's new you ask? Plenty, the EH got a new ally called Sith Squadron. Don't know much about them, but they seem cool. Also got an alliance with Dark Empire recently, so we just rock all around.

New Competition
09:17 - VA Kyle Katarn [Kyle.Katarn@isdcolossus.com]
There is a new Competition. The Sovereign Ace Comp. The Comp is held Tuesdays. 1st time on the 29th April. For more Information, please consult the Combat Calendar.

Also I take suggestions for a BSC Hosted Competition from the EH. Please mail them to me. Also, I search Hosts for this comp who already got BSC knowledge. I think about something like the old Zone Sunday Competition.

Wing XIV WC
11:00 - HA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]
Many congratulations go out to Major Phantom who has been selected as the new Wing XIV Wing Commander!

Profile Removals
11:36 - HA Priyum Patel [spellfire@btinternet.com]
Just a bit of general information: Unless specifically requested, no profiles are deleted from the database. This means if you've been declared AWOL, left the EH or whatever and can't find your profile, then uncheck "Assigned Personnel Only" box on the Search page before entering your name. You'll find the profile has simply been listed as Inactive.

Save the Zone XvT and XWA Rooms!
12:45 - AD Ender mBind [mindb_ender@hotmail.com]
The XvT and XWA Rooms are marked for deletion from the MSN Zone! That would mean no more XvT or XWA WoWs and other Zone based competitions. Please sign this petition to keep it alive:

http://www.petitiononline.com/xwa/petition.html

(Thank you AD Darksaber for bringing this to attention.)

SquadFirst 1.3 Patch
13:44 - FA Ari [ari@tiecorps.org]
After several delays, SquadFirst, the Squadron Website Template, is now available in version 1.3. Along with code optimization, version 1.3 features an adjustment to the comps display on the sidebar, and will display all comps that are currently running. The second big change is support for Infiltrator Wing sites. SquadFirst can now easily be converted to IW mode with the click of a button. I highly recommend that everyone using SquadFirst download the update patch.

If you are interested in creating your own theme for distribution with SquadFirst, please contact FA Ari. Hopefully we will be able to provide a comprehensive set of instructions for the public soon.

You can download the SquadFirst patch, full version, or additional themes, at http://squadfirst.minos.net.

EH Forums
17:02 - Fleet Admiral Aiden Cantor Karias [io@absolutek.ca]
As per an agreement between me and Ari, I will be in charge of additions or modifications to the EH Forums as COMM. This means that things such as requests for moderator access, new boards, changing moderators, suggestions for the forums, etc... should now be emailed to the me instead of Ari. My email is io@absolutek.ca. Of course if you need help in a pinch, and I'm not around Ari will still be able to help you out.
