SSSD SOVEREIGN NEWS, 9-30-01

Welcome to another installment of the Sovereign Report, RA Proton reporting.

FROM THE SSSD SOVEREIGN SOURCEBOOK

The main weapon aboard the SSSD Sovereign is the axial superlaser, a spine-mounted superlaser modeled on the main weapon of the Death Star itself. The Death Star's prime weapon was composed of eight individual lasers that could focus together, generating enough power to destroy an entire planet. By comparison, the SSSD Sovereign carries only a single laser, but recent focusing and generator advances make this ray much more powerful than the units used on the Death Star. The beam packs enough destructive power to shatter the most powerful planetary shields and sear whole continents in a flash.

Next week: More on the axial superlaser

SOVEREIGN NEWS AND NOTES

-- FA Kramer and his creatures couldn't stand it another minute on the cramped M/FRG Phoenix, so he has taken a rank haircut to COL and has joined the elite Omega Squadron. Welcome back to the Sovereign ... Colonel ... man, that does sound really strange ;) ... This also means that his d***ed scorpions are back on the flagship, too ... =/

-- Force strength: Slippage again this week, with more pilots pulling the ripcord with school starting. A couple of squadrons are in danger of closure. All command personnel on the ship should immediately "adopt a cadet" -- offer to help these pilots and thereby get them into our squadrons. If we all work on this, we will see success. A side note: I know that some officers are upset with the current recruiting system for snaring cadets, and I have been discussing the situation with the Flight Office. But don't sit and wait for a sweeping change -- get out and recruit as best you can NOW.

-- RED ALERT! Ship-wide flight comp under way, and the deadline is Sept. 3. It's a readiness test, so I am looking for good performances from the WCs on down to the newest SLs. Check the Sov home page (sov.imperialmight.com) for the mission download links.

-- Reminder of ship home page design competition. See the Sov home page at sov.imperialmight.com for the details. IS-GR, -SR and -BR up for grabs for the top three finishers.

-- YELLOW ALERT! Coming soon: Ship-wide, multi-activity comp, the Mascot Power Battles. WCs: COL Prefect and I are looking for volunteers among yourselves to judge certain categories. Ford will judge the trivia, and I could judge the fiction if needed. There are several other categories, so please step forward to help Ford in this great contest.

-- Other coming comps. LCM Murkrow Defender and COL SickMan are working on a ship comp for us using new custom missions, and LCM Jack Stone is launching a mega-flight comp that will run through the end of the year. Do we have enough comps on the Sovereign yet? No one will be able to claim they're bored!

-- Still more coming comps. To kick off 2002, I'm leaning toward a "Release the TIEs" concept such as the contest recently run in Wing II.

-- Still more war? The new War Officer, VA Pel (trivia note: who started his EH career in Koph Squadron), will be taking up new competitions similar to the recently concluded Imperial Storm II for our multiplayer pilots.

-- Quotes of the Week:

"COL Kramer!!! That just sounds crazy :) Welcome back to the Sovereign, man! The M/FRG Phoenix sucks, doesn't it?" -COL Darth Vader

"They didn't have one thing. Same with LucasArts. I give up :P
I'll take more frequent crashing of winME just so I can play TIE Fighter, dude." -COL Darth Vader

"The Phoenix was way too small to hold myself and all my minions. We needed the space of the Sovereign . . . >:)" -COL Kramer

COMMODORE'S CANTINA NOTES

**
Proton sneezed again and gulped down another handful of pills proferred by Snippy. The vicious Bothan cold virus had laid him low this weekend and he had no energy to write more creative fiction than this small missive :( ... snort, cough ...
