Ship Report #1
Greetings, members of Wing IX! Welcome to the first edition of the Relentless Report! Here is where you’ll be kept up-to-date on the happenings of your great ship, as well as some general notes and tidbits about the rest of the TIE Corps. This report will come out roughly every other week – more frequently if there’s news you need to know.
First up – we’ve got our first Wing-on-Wing competition coming up fast! In case you’ve been on leave or otherwise hiding your head in the clouds of Bespin (and Spear Squadron’s on its way back from shore leave…nice run-on, guys!), Wing X has been making some pretty bold statements in the Recruiting Center. Your ever-lovin’ COM called ‘em on it (I don’t remember them beating US in a competition, and I know I’m not THAT old yet), and it looks like comp time! The details will be announced soon, but be warned that this will be a Beta-One competition. That means you MUST fly, or provide your CMDR (or me, if you’re a CMDR) with a reason why you can’t BEFORE the competition’s over. If you don’t, best think about packing your bags.
What’s the big deal? Well, for one, this ship used to have a strong rivalry with the Challenge (the “Challenged”, as some Wing IX veterans may remember her), and they seem to have forgotten all about that. For another, this is our first chance to show the rest of the fleet just how tough we really are. I’m going to fly in this one, and I expect each of you to do the same. This goes double for you veterans in the Wing. Old war stories are good for frightening new SLs. Let’s use this chance to write some NEW war stories.
Just so you know, I’m trying to work it out with their COM so that we have a TIE and an XWA mission for this one. That way those of you who’ve been bitten by the Windows XP monster will still be able to take part. No word yet if there will be a TIE and an XWA medal or not, but I’m certainly not against the idea. Yes, I remembered you, Xan!
On another note, we’ve gotten some good applications for the WC position. Expect a decision to be announced by the end of the week. You’re one of the best Wings in the fleet, and I expect your new WC to be nothing less, so this isn’t an easy decision. Until the new WC is announced, I’ll be wearing two hats (as the military saying goes) and functioning as COM and WC. I’ll be keeping the WCO standings updated, so you can expect a report on those in a day or so.
Let’s see…what else is there? Oh, yes. Imperial Storm III is getting closer by the day. BGCOM Mell is in discussions regarding such technical things as the starting positions and fleet orders of battle, but this one looks to be a go! And unlike previous Imp Storms, it’s designed so that everyone can take part. Look for TIE and/or XWA missions to be coming your way soon! More details will be announced as I get them.

A reliable source (one of the bartender droids in the Stardrifter…hey, you can’t get more reliable than that!) tells me that we might be getting a column from a former COM sometime in the future, so stay tuned for that.
